Very mouthwatering Mike. The Bocadillo de Tortilla Española would be what I’d go for. I love Spanish omelette. My favourite sweet that I’ve ever had in Lanzarote was Bienmesabe. Had it a few times at the (now sadly gone) El Olivio restaurant above Playa Dorada. Wasn’t listed on the menu, but the waiter offered it to us. Absolutely delicious as you probably already know 👍🏼😊
If you wanted lapas, I would suggest to call the restaurant first before going there. Some restaurants may print it on their menu, some may not at all, but either way they may still have it and cook it for you. The seasonality of lapas I think is proof of how really fresh they are, to the level unlike other seafoods. Thank you Estrella del Charco in Arrecife for cooking such a delicacy for us!
Hi Mike, will arrive on Lanzarote on Friday. Fleeing from the European winter depression. Hopefully we have some decent weather and sun. Have you any recommendation for good Canarian tapas?
Zebra crossing.....most cars stop but some don't...I've been very careful to wait each time...good job one nearly ran me over.....am I missing something here....seems a bit of Russian roulette sometimes.....do you have any information re the Spanish zebra crossing.... cheers 😊
... Just casually sitting here with my broccoli and southern fried chicken for dinner.. wishing I was sampling some of that Conejo Campesino. Not a mega fish fan, but certainly some lovely looking dishes available on the island!
The nicest one I've had is in Uga on the LZ 2, directly in front of the health centre. Unfortunately I don't remember the name. I will google it for you.
Great ! It's a very substantial plate. A large salad, the periwinkle and tuna. Periwinkles are eaten in Ireland as a seaside summer treat. It was nice to find them in Lanzarote as a menu item.
My partner and I have booked 10 days in the H10 Rubicon Palace, I was wondering if they do cater for Vegans as my partner is one or will she have to live on salads and pasta for the duration of our holiday, many thanks for your help.
Hi mike well we have light water back thousands still have none 5 days now workers coming from france ect to help. sad as so many older people have not heat ect any way another good vidio keep safe
Hi As a frequent visitor to Lanzarote, I pop over to 3 times a year in the winter and take advantage of the extremely low flights close to departure many times travelling from Birmingham. Cheaters as €20. I’ve booked it again this weekend Land on Saturday so I’m a regular viewer of your channel, I was particularly interested in some of the local dishes you talked about in the last episode whoever I can not say I have seen the dishes on the restaurant menus that I visited, so if you could recommend some restaurants where they specialise in local dishes, particularly the ell dish, I’m interested in i’m stopping in the Capital, so if the one in that area, that you can recommend, keep up the good work
You’ll get many of them at the restaurants in Arrecife, around Charco San Ginés. My favourite for the eel dish is Restaurante El Risco in Famara. You’ll only find rabbit during the hunting season August to October, the best we’ve had was in la Villa de Teguise. Lapas at any good fishing village. The thing to bear in mind is that many of these things are only available fresh, so they may not be on the menu, but either on the specials board, or in the specials the waiting staff tell you about when you arrive. The lapas, for example are only available when some have been caught. I’d suggest keeping a list of the ones you’d like to try, and asking the question: “¿hay moreno, hoy?” for example. (Is there moray eel today?)
Not really. There isn’t an anti tourist vibe here. There’s some frustration at us having what many feel is too much tourism for the size of the island.
Hi Mike, thanks for the video. I have a food question - do you know the origins of the sandwich ‘Racing’ and why it is so called? I’ve never seen it anywhere in mainland Spain and it was new to me when we arrived here. Can’t seem to find any info about it online.
Goat meat stew or Carne de Cabra is my favourite canarian dish but the quality of the meat and the seasoning of the sauce does vary from place to place. I must disagree with you, but goat has a less pronumced flavour than lamb and is closer to beef stew. Hence, it's ideal for those who may find lamb too overpowering. Another common healthy side dish is chickpeas (Garbanzos) or white beans (Fabadas) in a tomato based stew . Typical for Spanish cuisine they usually add small pieces of pork or chorizo for added flavour - this nullifies a dish that would be suitable for vegetarians!
Mike thanks for the information, food looks great

Thank you for such an interesting insight into foods in Lanzarote.
You’re very welcome!

Hi Mike,
Enjoyed the video as usual even though it made me hungry watching it, lol.
Looks a bit cool at present judging by the jumper you're wearing.
Yes, it was cool first thing this morning when I filmed it. 17 degrees.
Delicious sounding 😊
Boquerones are my favourite tapas, yummy!
I've had shark as a starter in el maestro in costa teguise 😅
Wow - I don’t think I’ve ever tried it. Was it good?
@LanzaroteInformation It was ok , not what I expected as it doesnt massively taste of fish as such, cant really compare it to anything I've had before

It depends where on the island, but you can see all the restaurants we’ve reviewed here: lanzaroteinformation.co.uk/?s=lanzarote+restaurant+review

Southern fried chicken sounds good. We’re flying to Madrid in the morning, so we’ll be eating left over chili and a baked potato at dinner time.
@LanzaroteInformation ooof! Lush! Safe travels guys. Enjoy.
May I add Periwinkle (Littorina littorea) salad. Many local restaurants outside the resorts offer it.
@@gerryrussell5325 We’ve never seen it. But we should try it. Where have you eaten it?

I can't find it. But if you drive through Uga in the direction of Playa Blanca it's on the left by the health centre and a football pitch.
@ The restaurant opposite the Centro Salud is La Cantosa. We’ll stop and ask them next time we’re passing.

Hi Mike, it’s obviously a bit chilly there today, I see you are wearing a jumper!

Mike I’m a coeliac and wondered what the availability of gluten free foods at restaurants is like. Coming to Lanzarote in April
@@timbird9732 almost all restaurants here have gluten free options.
Can you recommend places to eat in teguise
@@AlfPane This is our favourite restaurant there: lanzaroteinformation.co.uk/lanzarote-restaurant-review-palacio-ico-teguise/

Contact the hotel. We only ever do B&b and being a vegan I usually eat pasta or pizza on an evening.Good luck and enjoy your hols.
I’d check with the hotel directly.
Good info even though I'm vegan. 17 degrees sounds good to me for the morning.
Sorry, the options weren't at all vegan friendly. 😄
@@LanzaroteInformation No problem. I believe problem. I think people can eat what they want. Not a preachy vegan.

Let’s hope it’s all sorted quickly for the ones still without.
Does anyone know anywhere in PDC I could get carne de cabra ?
@@mikt5357 Hopefully someone will know. We haven’t seen it on menus in Carmen, but we don’t eat there often.

Random Question, have you noticed this anti tourist vibe in Lanzarote that seems to be trending on the mainland?
Not really. There isn’t an anti tourist vibe here. There’s some frustration at us having what many feel is too much tourism for the size of the island.
We have been lucky enough to visit Lanzarote and Tenerife in the last 3mths and haven't encountered any problems.
