    I am absolutely beyond impressed. I have never seen nor heard of anyone doing a conversion basically at no cost. The re-use of materials was amazing. At first I thought,
    "Why doesn't he get some nicer materials, maybe jazz the place up a bit?" It was when you were talking that I realized the whole purpose of the conversion was moving your belongings because you were moving house!! Ohhhhh!!! Then I thought it was absolutely perfect-even better than perfect! You buy a bus, convert it without added expenses, move house and you still have the bus in the end to use for the future. Otherwise if you had rented a truck or paid movers, that money would be gone. Genius! If I ever have to move,this is what I am going to do!!!

      Thanks the only down fall is I have is I have to get a CDL license to drive it. Because the the 31,000GVW, but at least I will have it for the future as well.

      The Blue Collar Preacher That is really interesting. From the small amount of research I have done, the need for the commercial driving license varies from state to state. Honestly, that thing is so big that even if my state does not require me to have one, I think I might go for it anyway. It would certainly increase my comfort level about driving that big bus! I found a school only about a mile away that offers the classes, and now I have begun looking around online at buses. I really want to go with my kids out to the Grand Canyon and generally the Southwestern US on an extended summer vacation. After that I would love to go to the Dakotas and Wyoming-I have family in that area, and it is such a beautiful part of the country. The problem for me is parking the bus when not in use. I have a short driveway and my town would never let us park that thing on the street. So my second thought is doing cargo van conversion. That I could park in my driveway, but I am quite tall and don't thinkI could handle a vehicle that I couldn't stand in. The Mercedes Sprinters have that high top, but dang!! They are SO expensive!! Now my thought is to get a regular cargo van,but to buy the high top andhave it soldered on the roof. I haven't gotten into coats yet on that,but I'm sure it isn't cheap!

      @@TheBlueCollarPreacher , I'm fixing to build one myself. Just bought a 2002 84 passenger bluebird. 8.3 Cummins pusher. My brother and I have a wood shop and a bunch of wood. So we're going to have a stab at it. Believe we can take it to another level. We've built a lot of different things through the years. We'll put it on the tube. Have a great day.

    I'm really impressed by how you made the most of what you had on hand. Never heard of anyone making their own charging ports. Took me awhile, but I realized you were making your own moving van. Very wise. A friend of mine paid movers over $25,000 to move his stuff 2000 miles. He could have bought a good truck, done it himself & still have a truck to sell at the end of the move for that much money.
    Those busses are sturdy vehicles. Not very well insulated, but have strong engines. The only drawback is having to shove your stuff through the back door, but I'm sure you have a plan for that. I subscribed just to see what you do next.

    • @TheBlueCollarPreacher

      Thanks, Yes I know it can cost a lot, as my niece and her husband spent around $5000.00 for two rental box trucks. And we plan on using it for other than moving when we are done. Check out my video on building my center console for my truck, I made charging ports for it out of 3/4" copper pipe, and brass screws.

    My son's scout troop rebuilt a bus for summer trips. We set two dinnet's(like your's) in the back for scout leadership. Our builder cut two holes at each end of the tables for drinks. Then he mounted a cutout on the bottom between each hole and fastened a faring strip to support the drink cans. That type of system worked very well.

      That's cool, I would like to keep it for the Ministry. It just depends on Insurance, and keeping it licensed. We will probably stay in it while I build our new house in Wyoming.

    • @TheBlueCollarPreacher
      @TheBlueCollarPreacher  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know, I have been doing my research on skoolie conversions, in WY. you can't change it from what it came from the factory with, at least school buses for now. I may end up just having my son in-law who has CDL drive it from UT. to WY. than most likely rob the drivetrain out of it. I do have cup holders for the passengers.
