- This video is of our first bus conversion. We have now completed another bus conversion and filmed the entire project. Check it out. It's all on our channel!
The Good News Bus was a project that took about 165 days to complete. We started with a yellow school bus with the seats still in it and transformed into a fully functional RV tiny home. We blogged every step of our project in full detail. Be sure to visit our blog!

speechless!!!! NICER THAN MY HOUSE!! GREAT HOME!!
Hello There
This is amazing. When I was 10 years old, around 1970, my dad came home with a 1955 Chevy School Bus he bought for $400.00. After many months we had a nice little camper-althought nothing like this. This does my heart good to see this. We had many good times in the old 55 as you will with this. I'm sure pops is smiling down on this. Thanks so much for sharing.
+David Parker Here is our latest bus video: th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html
This is the nicest school bus conversion i have seen so far.
It takes vision, persistence and a whole lot of hard work to make something like this happen. You've done a wonderful job and created something to be treasured.
+sikantis61 thanks you! We are really enjoying it.
That International Power Plant is extremely heavy duty & is used in semi trucks pulling 50,000 pounds or more. One day I too will be cruising the good ole USA & Canada and maybe even Mexico . You sir are an inspiration , I can see your big ole grin every time you step inside your home on wheels
Dudes, you can drive all the way from Alaska & Canada all the way to the southern tip of South America, ie., drive your house to the Rio Carnival, already having the things you need with you. Bikes in the back storage area. Work via internet. What are the choices for affordable, directional satellite high speed internet for phone+entertainment/job communication?
That's sweet. We have a bus. We were using when we went drag racing. My husband did an amazing job. Thanks for sharing.
Literally just bought an 01' today of the same bus. Wonderful ideas. Lots of work to come. Headed to the blog now.
+Jackson P Awesome! Join our forum while you are there!
Details matter ALOT in a conversion like this and you did a great job!
+Rachel Schell Here is our latest bus video: th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html
This is my dream! Not sure if Ill gut the whole bus like this but this the best renovation Ive seen so far!
Sir, your trim work is absolutely astounding! Also, the way the bus windows were worked into the design for your kitchen is by far the best I've seen in these types of conversions. Fantastic job!
You did an amazing job!!!!! Very blessed with knowledge of building this gorgeous bus. I know you guys enjoy going around the US and visiting different sites. May God keep you safe in all your endeavours.
One of the best school bus conversion, I've ever seen.
Thanks! We are in the middle of doing a new bus. Check out our recent vids.
I think this might have been the coolest bus Ive personaly ever seen
Reminds me of a yacht interior. Nice job and enjoy all that hard work and attention to details. Pride in workmanship is a great feeling.
+saxmanchiro Have you seen our latest video walk through? th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html
GoodNewsBus Nope, but I will now that you linked it. Thanks and nice job again. I am a woodworker and appreciate nice work.
What a beautiful home on wheels. I love the wood trim in the interior. The plumbing looks great, and from what I saw of it, the bathroom looks great too. Well done.
0:29 Overall a pretty practical floorplan for a family. I think I would switch places between the kitchen and the dinette. The dinette would have fit a little better next to the bathroom because they are both wide. The kitchen would benefit from being right next to the refrigerator. The kitchen would still be fairly close to the bathroom to keep the plumbing runs short.
This is the most impressive school bus conversion i have seen yet! Awesome Job!!!!
Thanks for showing us how it's done. It's one of the most professional jobs that I've seen. Looks as nice as it is functional.
+Gayle Crabtree thank you...😊
Absolutely gorgeous! It would be smart to have one for a college kid. For the amount you'd use on room and board, this seems practical.
you gots some serious skills dude, that bus looks better than some apartments iv lived in!!
Beautiful build you have here! I'm blown away you can't even tell it was a bus inside you paid attention to every little detail and it came out perfect my favorite features would have to be the bunks and the rear storage wow!! This video just gave me the motivation to renovate and remodel my 40 foot aljo fifth wheel (needs major overhaul) 😂
Holy cow that's insane, it came out looking awesome!
Let's Live
Nicest bus to home conversion I have seen. Looks great.
I have seen some half assed bus conversions on youtube. But you really invested time money and energy into this project. I am handy and would love to do this conversion to a school bus. But now that I have seen the professional job that was done to this bus. I am truly amazed and satisfied. I would think twice before I ever sold it. Very nice. Great job.
Thanks!!!
Wow! Just got a '93 Bird flatnose. Need it for storage for about two years, then will convert to a rental party bus/ occasional personal RV. I have seen a lot of converted skoolies and yours is top notch!!
Oh my word, your tiny house in wheels looks so cozy 😊 Makes me want to go tiny.
Nice really nice! Love that there is a washer/dryer combo installed!
Mary Poe RIGHT? I can do without SOME things. But if you have an instant hot water heater, like this gentleman.... WHY NOT?!?! LOVE the whole thing. You all should REALLY check out his website. The attention to detail on every phase is simply remarkable. And how he encourages the reader / follower to look for clearance deals and talking to Store managers to get a deal. Dood has it ALL!!! good stuff! Thank you so much!
+applemarkwantsvids Here is our latest bus video: th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html
was concerned with the rear escape being walled off ( for fires etc) but then saw all the fire escape windows still in place. am extremely impressed.
You give so much. Just had to change that number! Be blessed.
Wow! Amazing work. I never imagined you could do that with a bus. Love it!
I like the way your lighting turned out.
Wow..... This is off the chain. Really impressive craftsmanship and design. You did a really impressive job.
+Martin Devin thanks so much for the compliment.
You did an amazing conversion and the result is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Very, very awesome job on your bus, Thanks so much for showing each step of the way. Hope you have a great time in you bus.
Wow, this is a huge project, and well executed! I like the attention to detail in every step ( no pun intended). This is what doubles the time, but you have true workmanship and no regrets when you use it. Very impressive and character forming!
Thanks! Be sure to check out our most recent video "Bus Life with 9": th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html
WOW! I can't believe that started out as a school bus!
one of the best conversions I have seen.
Beautiful job! And I'd bet it's much sturdier than most RVs.
+DwightMS1 the Good News Bus is very sturdy. We wanted something that would hold up to 7 kids. 😊
Thank you! I am watching all sorts of videos because I am going to be doing this as a project, I was thinking about buying just generators so I don't have to deal with a lot of electrical things, but i'll look more into the blog so I see what's what.
OK, just when I thought Phoenix Cruisers and Pleasure Way pursuit was the best built you came along and SET the STANDARDS! WOW.... you and your team deserve to be hired at any factory that builds RV's! EXCELLENT JOB.... I would like to say that it appears to value approximately $ 208,000.00 minus emotional ties for this RV bus.
That bus is gorgeous! You guys did a really good job.
I don't see why their are 200 something dislikes, you guys did all that yourselves, that's amazing and looks freakin awesome.
+tigahshark thanks!
From the beginning your bus has been one of my absolute favorites, you guys did such a great job. I always find my way back whether it is initial researching phase, inspiration, or just a little dreaming of the freedom of the road.... awesome stuff!
+Back to School Bus thanks...I appreciate it.
+Back to School Bus thanks...I appreciate it!
I think what you're doing is very brave that you get to do whatever you love what you did with the boat looks really good
Absolutely beautiful. You are very skilled, I appreciate you showing the work and results! We are looking to convert a bus in the future, and it is wonderful to see all of these good ideas!
Awesome job. You did it right. It's worth the extra time because with a project like this it's tough to re-do anything. Congratulations on an excellent job and a beautiful (bus) home. God bless.
notsosilentmajority1 Thanks! Keep your eyes open for a new walk through video coming soon!
GoodNewsBus Will do.. Looking forward to it.
+notsosilentmajority1 Here is our latest bus video: th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html
Wow! How inspiring! Great work! This is one of the few conversions I've seen that looks professionally done. It looks like a $300,000 bus. You mentioned your time; what about total cost for materials?
Nicely done! Currently doing a similar project myself and if it turns out half as good as this I will be a happy man!
Beautiful! you're very clever to have put all of that together, most impressive!
You did an awesome job on this bus. Enjoy it.
+Jim Presley thank you! We also be a video walk-thru too. Be sure to check it out.
Wow! Great job! I've had the same idea since I was a kid!
Travel deluxe! Extraordinary conversion! Super nice. Love the two finish wood treatmet. First rate first class job! 😎👍❤🔥
Thanks! Be sure to check out our new bus in later videos.
It's stunning. Congratulations.
This is a gorgeous piece of work.
+Sarah Joy Here is our latest bus video: th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html
Very nicely done and inspirational for a project of my own. Happy trails and best of luck. Thank you!
Wow! That is a great build! I am currently working on a old much smaller coach. You did a great job!
Curtis,
Good question. I think at one point we considered putting the tanks under the bus but I chose to put them under the bed for a couple reasons. First it was convenient, second if I am ever in a cold environment the tanks would be less likley to freeze.
As for your question. We have never noticed any noise or movment from the water in the tanks.
Thanks!
Looks like a ton of work, but it looks like it was worth every bit of it. Looks awesome.
I just started a School Bus conversion. I think, my Skoolie will be one of the first ones in Germany 🇩🇪😎. Therefore I'm looking for inspiration and your bus looks really cool. Thank you for sharing
Best wishes from Münster, Germany
Wolfgang
This is a fantastic creation - incredible job!! I really love the two-tone wood-work and all the detail. Use it in good health!
I am amazed by the amount of work you have put in this mentally and physically. Very inspirational.
Fantastic job, love what you've done! I'm sure my dad would have loved to have had an ideal like that. Sometimes the best ideals come too late. May God Bless You and your family
Very Nice. A job well Done. Attention to Detail.
i have been planning to do this before i saw this video.that is really cool.you made that old school bus into a rv.it looks like an rv you would buy.cool man.
Beautiful job! Thanks for sharing the details.
Beautiful job on the bus!
wow, just... wow... I have a small bus that I want to convert into an RV but I don't think I'll be doing anything nearly this fancy!!
I'm not exactly the handy man sort... not that I'm not any good at working with my hands, I'm just more of a dreamer than a doer- so my projects tend to end up being simple and to the point...
Outstanding job.. And a excellent video run thru. Well Done!
+John Meyer Here is our latest bus video: th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful a lot of work but well worth it! So glad for you and your family!
really nice conversion good luck many years of enjoyment
Phenomenal job. Really nice wood work
There is a way to access the back via the bookshelf in the master bedroom. I really wanted it separate due mainly to the storage or the propane tanks. It is meant more as a utility room to access items when parked in a campground.
youll have to excuse my language but that is FUCKEN awesome!! attention to detail is an understatement.
I love that woodwork, beautifully done! The whole thing is just beautiful! That's something I'd like to do. I'm a single person so I wouldn't add extra bunks and with enough room could probably fit a full size tub in it. ;)
Sharp interior really well done looks like a home on wheels :)
+DЯews pens Here is our latest bus video: th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html

This gives me some Ideas for the flat nose bus that I am building from scratch
Absolutely stunning work! Kudos to you for a job well done😉
Wow very cool! Makes me want to build one.
Live is simply living in tiny houses. Thanks for sharing video.
+Louielamson2000 Tran Nguyen 👍
Most of it came from anyware I could find it. One reason I did the blog was because there seems to be a lack of information for doing a bus conversion. Good luck with yours!
What a beautiful job you did.
This is awesome! I'm hoping to build a shipping container house that the inside looks like this!!!
Great job looks awesome I've been thinking of doing something like this looks like a blast to build and would be very satisfying after completion :) thanks for sharing
Wow that is amazing!!! Absolutely stupendous job!!! Wish I could ride in something like that someday :'(
You want to ride in something nice like that do your own School Bus conversion
Amazing work, thank´s for sharing. Hope to see more vids. Cheers!
Awesome home...very cozy looking!!! I can tell that you really put your heart and soul into this project!!! I loved your narration as I haven't made a home like this but after you showed me what to do I am going to look for a small reno to do!!! Thanks for your sharing your Sweet Inspiration!!!
+sandra valani Here is our latest bus video: th-cam.com/video/4Zi6Bu2QWRM/w-d-xo.html
Great conversion! Makes mine look so crude
wow,so cool,thanks for sharing
Great looking job,
planning on doing this for a big trip with friends
Wow -- what a fantastic job!
allot more into that then mine I liked a wide open floor plan with 2 divider walls one behind driver seat and 1 half way. the bus I built was a international 74 passenger high school bus with under belly storage where I placed my water tanks and generator. def like how u built the cabnets more RV style then back yard build
Good job.
Hey, I got inspired from your life to live in a caravan for my entire life.
Ahhhh...I see what you are saying. We chose just to keep it white. It still goes because of the white strips. I guess it comes down to personal preference. At the time I think we considered painting it but we chose not to mainly because we didn't want to paint a door that was already prefinished white.
