      Yes, that is a huge value and he can evade a front four while extending the play which makes it impossible for cb's and safeties.It doesn't matter how good the other teams defense is. He is a great nullifier.

      Barry and Russ,
      Great comparison.
      Both incredibly talented and elusive. RW says that he studied Fran Tarkenton. Barry once stated that he learned his moves from two hand touch football as a kid.
      Both were smaller guys in the League, and so two hand touch - even one hand touch - by those Dline and linebackers would be play-over.

Doug Baldwin with a miraculous catch and toe drag against the sideline. And all for a critical 3rd down conversion in a tight game.

    If you watch the tape. Russ's eyes are always down field. He's not running to run. He's running to pass. It's why he's so dangerous. You have to defend both. A rock and a hard place. Russ puts you there. All thou some of these passed were terrible. He should have never thrown them. Up for grabs? Eek!

  • @DeCurtaRican
    @DeCurtaRican 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    The timing and field vision it takes to improvise like that presents a higher degree of difficulty than being a rhythm passer. Contrary to what many people outside of Seattle believe, Russ has shown in his career that he can do both. He can throw on rhythm, throw over the midfield, throw with anticipation, throw to a spot, and make pre-snap reads…all of the stuff people claim he can’t do.
    The only claim with any validity is that you need to limit his post-snap reads, and that’s only because he has usually had poor or limited protection, and he is a shorter QB so the protection has to hold up even better for him to get through those reads. That doesn’t reflect an inability to read defenses or the field or a low IQ, it’s just a physical limitation. He cannot help that.
    Any guy who can take the kinds of snapshots he had to take to make the plays seen in this video (and while on the move, no less) can read the h3ll out of a defense!
    That’s why Justin Fields will never be as good as Russ regardless of what he learns from Russ. It’s like Prince giving guitar lessons. It won’t make you Prince. What Russ has is a God-given ability that cannot be explained.
    Russ’s height is a challenge not a failing.
    His coaches should be addressing his height challenge by investing in stout O-Lines and giving him a few more pass attempts per game (37?) so he can throw the ball away and avoid taking sacks without sacrificing his numbers. And remember, his numbers translate to wins!

    • @gcwishbone
      @gcwishbone 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He was alright last year even if the narrative is that he wasn't. Efficient and a decent PFF grade. I agree with you but he did need his legs to help see everything, given his height.

      Wilson is not really a RB. He's a QB that's best in the league with no help around him and a bad OC. He scrambles to make plays because his o-line can't block for shit. Russ is a passer he's not like Lamar. Lamar is a RB in the QB position who has a good but not great arm.

    Sad he left, but sadder the way a lot of us fans treat him now. He's corny but a good guy; no DUIs and doesn't break into houses unlike some of our beloved players.
    And he was elite for us even though he relied on his legs--though not as much as Vick or Lamar--given his height. That scrambling and the best deep ball in the league, to Lockett, made for some insane plays like right here.
    Don't forget his throw straight up into the air that landed in Lockett's basket to win the game vs the Chiefs. They had a great synergy.

    On that last play, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix tried to time the ball, but it had more air under it than he thought. He saw it; it just had a little bit more hang time on it than anybody expected, given that Russ was running backwards when he threw it.
    Whoever says Russ doesn’t have a strong arm doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Russ’s arm is VERY strong...with a soft touch and a tight spiral.

  • @gitbint

    These. Are. Awesome.
    RW has made watching football a lot of fun again.
    When I was growing up, (90s), Randall Cunningham was elusive and had a decent arm.
    Michael Vick was Michael Vick.
    But since Vick, we've had a bunch of white, immobile QBeez that cannot make shit up and consistently, time and time again, run or pass for the first downs.
    RW just for MVP?
    Russell Wilson single-handedly
    saved the National Football League.

      @@blanketflunky9823 Nah that gimmick was Vick and Lamar (see week 1 vs the chiefs, and the pro bowl minigame), their whole game's based on speed. Russ could do more than that, particularly the deep ball which was best in the game. But yeah, I do agree his speed was extremely important because of his height.

    To me I would fire Payton and Patton before letting Wilson go. Here's why: Payton is a System HC think of Parcells and Belichick all system HCs. Beliechek is probably on his way out. The my way or the highway HCs dont have a chance in today's NFL. The HCs that are going to the playoffs are HCs that build a system around the strength of players. The best example is Harbaugh which was a pocket system built around Flaco. But then he got hurt or something and Lamar became the man. Harbaugh seeing the difference in style of play changed the whole system around players! I will be leaving fandom of the Broncos and be a free-agent fan and hope the very best for Wilson especially when he plays the Broncos!
