We have so much in common.
Example - I had a pine cone wedding bouquet and keep it forever.
We actually have a shoe library. We have two tall and wide bookcases - one for her and one for him. And we stick to that specific space for all of our shoes and slippers. It makes them super accessible and a very beautiful display. Both the bookcases and the shoes are beautiful. We are very picky about the colours we bring in our house which makes things sooooooo easy to tidy up and look beautiful no matter where we decide to store it. My husband is not even allowed to buy shoes in anything other than brown, black and super dark blue. It's funny but it's super functional :)). You can even display beautiful purses in the bookcase or wallets and a bit of decoration. Just like boutique stores do.
Wow, turning storage into a display piece! Is it difficult to maintain since the shoes would inevitably have some dirt? Hehe. Sounds like a very tasteful way of living right there ☺️
@@haylivk I found a million uses for those paper supermarket bags we get our food delivered in . If we get too many chips and crisps I stack it up in the bags and put it under a shelf. Those things look so pretty stacked up neatly under a shelf. I stack up extra cans , bottled drinks we havent opened yet, I also use the bags in other different ways. I cut a wall off the bag and put it under any pair of shoes that got dirty in the park and then whenever there are a few pairs a wash the dirt off and put them in the laundry for a nice refresh :)) The bookcases are a similar colour so we never even notice. Btw we have a mutual love for organising and hate for cleaning so I literally have a dusting schedule. I wrote up a list of all the surfaces I need to dust and broke it up into like 9 parts I think and every day I just do one part. I keep a list like that about all the chores I can think of around the house. I call it Work Mark and every day I copy what Im supposed to do for the day on a list called Today. They say "You manage what you measure" and I do love those lists :))

Totally agree that organizing is a pain that brings joy!! I am also a Konmari convert! Also work in progress because got a kid to take care. But I am buying less and more particular of what I buy now. I am also having same feeling as you with regards to minimalism.
Oh another organising friend!! Wah, it's difficult for me now and I can't imagine how you're managing with your kids' belongings too. Thumbs up for you!! Totally agree, buying stuff more mindfully = less stuff to manage. I always get asked (in jest) - what happened to your minimalism? Um... I am a functional minimalist 😆
@@haylivk I used to hoard things. I lost control when I see sales. I started konmari when I pregnant and my mindset change a lot. I dun want to force myself into maintaining minimalism and not happy about it. I still have wants but I am more rational. If anything I buy dun work into my lifestyle, I will thank it and move on (well/donate/throw) and I no longer hoard on things. I dun stock a lot and end up expire. I think this is the biggest change adopting konmari. My mindset changed but I didn’t manage to finish the konmari decluttering because I was too heavily pregnant and then pregnant second time. My girl going to cc next coming week. I feel inspired to finally do the decluttering once and for all.
