    I came across your video just now. I'm thankful as my bushes are about 15 years and been afraid to do a lot of cutting, but you've shown clearly how not to be afraid and reaping the benefits. Than you, sir

      I’m very happy you found this video helpful. I had to overcome the fear of pruning when I first started growing blueberry bushes. You will be amazed how well they will do over the next couple of years as you start pruning.

      I went through the same feelings to begin with. You will be surprised how well they respond to pruning.

      They should do well there as long as you have enough chill hours. I'm sure there are varieties that do well there. I'd go for it.

    I think this is the first channel that actually left the footage in when they ran across a snake.

      I did think about leaving that part out but that is farm life. We see all kinds of wild life on the farm and rarely see anything other than black snakes.😀

    I have 6 - 10 year old plants and was wondering If I could prune some of the one inch branches now (Oct. 2023) in northeast Pa.
    and some in the fall ( around Feb.). Must the pruning be done around Feb.? I would to see some more talk on "when" one can
    prune ? Thanks.

      Yes, you should be fine to prune now.

    Thanks for the informative video. I have almost 30 blueberry bushes in various growth stages. Some are sprouting very thin branches near the base. Should I trim them off?

      My rule of thumb is to remove any that are more than 12" from the main shoot. Keep the best 3-4 new shoots closest to the main shoot.

      I'm in central VA, It's mid to late August, Should I prune now,( just finished bearing), or wait until February. Bushes are 10 yrs and older.

    Good video. I purchased some blueberry plants this year to grow in containers. You mentioned checking PH on one bush. How is the best way you've found to check this? I'm questioning my probe I bought. Not sure it's the best way. All of bushes are small this year but I'm sure will need pruning soon. Hopefully I can bring my family to pick blueberries this next year since I've missed this one. About 2 hr drive for us. Thanks for sharing.

    What do the edges of the cuttings look like using the pruner? I am trying to learn how to propagate cuttings but I have arthritis in my hands so taking the cuttings is kinda hard on some days. Are the edges clean or does is make them ragged?

    • @SeedsofPromise
      @SeedsofPromise  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
