    So far not a single new laptop on CES have been announced with this 240 Hz OLED. Having tried that screen in person I'm really impressed, yet it makes no sense that no new laptop is utilizing 240 Hz OLED screen. What's going on there? That screen is actually superior to desktop 240 Hz OLED too, 360 nits vs 200 nits.

    • @NotebookcheckReviews

      Very good question. I think I saw one from MSI with the same screen.

    I have question about this Razer Blade 15 laptop. Does the RTX 3070TI work with the Laptop Screen and external monitors? I have an ASUS TUF A15 2021 Laptop and the integrated AMD Radeon gpu works on the Laptop Screen and the hdmi port; but to use the RTX 3060 you have to use the USB C port only. I wonder if this is a coming problem with Laptops.
    If that is the case then try hooking up a usb c to display port 1.4 to a fast refresh external WQHD monitor and see if the FPS increases alot.
    Perhaps those fps results for some of those games would increase more. Looks like a nice laptop, wish I had a RTX 3070ti; but a RTX 3060 suffices for me. Thanks for the review....

    • @NotebookcheckReviews
      @NotebookcheckReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      For some laptops the display connection are wired either via the iGPU (often when you have a Thunderbolt 4 port) or directly to the dGPU (most HDMIs, Mini-Display Ports and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2s with display port pass through)
      The Blade has one USB-C that is wired directly to the dGPU and so is the HDMI port, while the Thunderbolt 4 is wired via the iGPU first.
      So in theory hooking up your external screen to one of the first 2 options should give you marginally better performance and latency.

    The noise samples of the Razer Blade 15 with 12900H 3070TI are much quieter than the values of the written review suggest for the Razer Blade 15 with 12800H 55W PL1 90W PL2 3080TI 110W 45dB Load Average 52dB Load Maximum. The low noise of the former would convince me to buy the Razer Blade 18 with 4070, which has 16:10, if only the keyboard layout would be equally good. The current layout makes it an absolute no-go, unfortunately. (I need ordinarily sized arrow and num pad keys and there should be four page navigation keys. Not asked too much for an 18" notebook, IMO. Uh, and a mechanical keyboard with deeper travel would be a dream.) --robert jasiek

    Best OLED in 15" laptop... in the product of the worst laptop manufacturer. On top of that - no one, not a single "reviewer" mentioned the gigantic drawbacks of OLED screens - burn out and low frequency brightness PWM.

    • @NotebookcheckReviews
      @NotebookcheckReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      While there is a potential burn-on problem, I personally think that its not a big problem. (I have owned several OLED-Laptops myself and used them for games and work, and I never had any problems with burn-in)
      That said, it is challenging to make any reliable long-term tests. So yes, in the future, I will mention the potential possibility of it.
      Regarding PWM, you are right. I should have mentioned it. But since I am personally not affected by it, I must admit in all honestly that I sometimes forget the issue.
      Especially since we couldn't get any PWM measurements for the Blade this time, because of time constraints.

    • @michaelmullerhausen8456
      @michaelmullerhausen8456 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hardly doubt that anyone would complain or even notice PWM if there would be no review sites constantly mentioning it (notebookcheck - referring to their written reviews - is actually one of them). Even a large amount of those complaining about headaches, I assume would not do so because in many cases it is purely a nocebo (there still might be a very small proportion of the population being actually affected by it).
      That most likely will also be the reason why manufactures won´t do anything about it (technically that should be completely possible, LG OLEDs for instance do not use PWM for brightness regulation at all). But it is simply not worthy doing something less than 0,5 % of your customers are affected of or do care about.
      That being said, there is also something called sample-and-hold motion blur. You won´t get rid of that until either you have very high framerates (> 1000 Hz, but 240 Hz should already be a good compromise) or introduce flickering (black frame insertion or backlight strobing, PWM for brightness regulation in OLEDs sadly won´t do the job because it does actually not flicker enough to be effective). That is also the reasons why CRTs or late plasmas were generally much sharper in motion. So don´t be too harsh on flickering since it is the only way we can enjoy sharp motion for the low framerate content we have today.
