  • Today I'm spraying some nutgrass in my yard and showing you how to get rid of it in your own lawn. Nutgrass can be a pain sometimes and looks ugly, but it's very easy to get rid of! Sedgehammer and Sempra are a great herbicide to knock nutgrass.

    Anyway, killer job mate. I used 3-way spiked w/sulfentrazone last year to attack all my weeds. I made good progress. This year, I'm winning the weed wars.
    My season is still a few weeks away. I can't wait to start.
    Better to be safe & sweaty than comfy and get chem on you.

    I have just scalped it and fertilised but the onion weed is growing 10 times faster than the lawn. Will sedgehammer kill onion weed too? Everywhere I read says to use "destiny" but at $630 I'm hoping sedgehammer might work instead. The active ingredient seems similar.

    The house I’m renting in now (“designer” cookie cutter place) has a yard that I swear is 90% nutgrass and clover. And what isn’t, looks like lambs tongue.
    Don’t even get me started on the soil, that I’m pretty sure is mostly crusher dust with the tiniest bit of some shitty clay soil over the top.
    We’ve had the real estate agent try and blame the state of the lawn on our dogs.... I’m almost hesitant to spray it for weeds, in case the whole thing dies.

    I have an infestation on nutgrass and paspalum on my acre property. I have mainly kikuyu / couch and buffalo mix. I have tried spot spraying with DSMA for paspalum but struggling to get rid of the nutgrass. Is it safe to spray loads of this stuff on my grass? Also any tips getting rid of the paspalum as the DSMA seems very unlikely to kill it. Almost thinking of just killing off the spots with round up and hoping the kikuyu grows over it after recovery.

  • @mickholgate3347
    @mickholgate3347 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Mate, would sedgehammer be a decent allround weed killer for kikuyu? Only reason I ask is that I've got some bad patching (including weeds) and dirt patches because of dogs, would it be better to feed to encourage growth or just re turf??

    Dude , You, connar and Ryan have inspired me to get a used reel mower . It’s winter here now in the UK and today we had 15cm of snow, and I’ve spent that day watching lawn video all day . The problem is I’m scared !! I nuked my lawn last year and started over again with Rye but I’m worried if we have a hot summer again it will kill it off if it’s too short , the problem being I don’t have a sprinkler system . Can it survive a drought when short with minimal watering at what happens if I go on holiday for 2 weeks ? Do I have to use the rotary mower again and lower it in stages again ??? Sorry mate I just don’t want to undo the work I did last autumn but I wasn’t a special lawn . Everybody walking past my house comments on my lawn but I like the idea of shortening it . Can I overseed the spring or should I wait till autumn?
    Inspire me mate

    • @LawnTips
      @LawnTips  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man! It should be absolutely fine in the UK! If mine is surviving nearly 40 degree heat, you’ll be fine.
      If you go for two weeks, make sure you apply wetting agents and a plant growth regulator.
      Autumn will always be the best time to sow in all honesty

      We have a business and the sedge gets out of hand during the summer. I'm probably gonna apply HSM a couple times but I wish I didn't have to because I'm a fisherman and the very nature of killing plants makes herbicides inevitably bad for the natural environment. Read the Product Label Instructions -- before or after you buy a product,
      & it tells you what you need. All the Professional Products require doing
      some math before applying & are based on a blanket spray of 1000 sq ft.
      Spot spraying,you will kill everything, until you have a couple years experience
      with them. What he didn't mention was the us of a Pre emergent in the late
