    I work as a software developer as my main job, and hardware is not my specialty, but I do know about the issues with SSD drives. I should warn you and the public about why you should never come close to the max space of an SSD. Everything is fine when you buy it - the speed is really good. But once you actually force the drive to delete a block on the drive, it becomes very slow comparative to when you bought the computer and the drive was only writing, not deleting then writing. It is such an expensive operation for an SSD to delete that it does not delete anything even when you manually delete a file on it. It stays there until it actually does not have any blank space and then it slows down because now it needs to perform that expensive operation on every block for any minute change. You only get about 1000 of these operations per block before the drive dies. That's how an SSD works. The best way to use an SSD is for data that will never change, and you should never go past the halfway point. This halfway point is needed for all the operating system/program changes that will eventually occur over the life of the computer. This will save the life of the device and keep its speed for years. Just use this formula: FAILURE = 1000 x SSD max memory - (all the data you have ever stored on it + all the data that you've ever changed or deleted). Once you get closer to 0, there will be more bad sectors than good and the drive will not function.

      Thanks for this comment, I was definitely unaware!
      I suppose there's no way to retroactively see the total sum of the amount of data that has been added to and deleted from a drive, is there?

      Is there no way to wipe an SSD clean? I accidentally installed windows on my HDD when buying a new computer and have been storing games on the SSD for the gameplay, but still want to one day wipe it and reset so I can use the SSD as the main drive

    Rule of thumb...keep at least 20% of your SSD empty at all times. If its 250GB or smaller, make it like 30%. Filling up your SSD will less cells available to write to and because your SSD has limited writes per cell, you'll wear out the empty cells. You'll be buying a new SSD every year.

    So confused when you started talking about the guitar, tuning, and the sound. It seemed to go off the rails a bit.

    great tips. what type of vocal samples and drum kits do you use?

    • @Jonsine
      @Jonsine  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't use any vocal samples they are all recorded just for my music. drums all come from the sample folders you could stop the video to the all of them :) hope this helps

    I have all my samples and some huge libraries (kontakt for instance) on an external hard drive which is always connected to my computer, so it frees much space on my main hard drive. Works fine for me.
    Was the kebab nice ?

      I would just lose the hard drive :) yes it's the best in town always going to the same place :)

    • @Vortigon
      @Vortigon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheBackwasher the problem with that way of working is when you external drive dies (and it will one day) you lose everything. You need two copies of everything you care about. Every hard drive fails eventually and normally you lose everything that's on it.

    ur fingers smell strange after playing acoustic due to the oil on the strings. the oil is there to reduce that sound of your fingers sliding up or down. You should go out and buy some extra oil in case you ever get too much of that sound instead of replacing all your strings.

    "Neither trump or Hiliary is qualified to do the job". FINALLY someone gets it. LOL.
    Also two quick things. You are however crazy one for deleting stems. lol. And that Aphex Exciter is an old plugin but its still an amazing distortion plug in especially on piano/synth.
    Try using it as a send effect. There even a bypass so you can just run the cold brittle digital sounds thru it even on the master just to get that coloration.
    In conclusion you seem to have a harddrive space problem? Looks like you invested a couple grand in plugins already eventually you gonna have to take some of that money and either upgrade to 1TB or get another external hard drive. In your situation i would do both. Although thank god i don't have to worry about this anymore on my mac pro 12 core with a OWC PCIe 1Tb boot drive and 4 HD's one in which is a SSD. Plus external G Drive with another 2 TB. Eventually i will rip out the remaining 3 HD's and replace with with SM951's.
    I've seen read and write speeds of up to 5,000
    BTW i thought i was the only one that brought snacks and beer and shootings in the movies with my wifey. Use cans next time. LOL.
    Subbed your channel and clicked the bell. Sub back maybe one daily i'll start uploading. God bless.

    ... Is Düsseldorf's Döner really better than Berlin's?

    • @Jonsine
      @Jonsine  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      both good. depends more on the döner-place than the city. what I really like that I only know from Berlin is the more shawarma style with chicken and vegetables can't get that in Düsseldorf
