I learned some of the mistakes the hard way I hate bagging for views or some Support and after over 15 years of producing music im now at a Point where I dont care anymore I make music for myself and share it on TH-cam Didn't make any money at all But I'm happy with it because I learned that you make music for yourself in first place Greetings from Germany 😉
Good promotion is not begging for plays man.. it's announcing stuff the right way to awaken interest in poeples minds. Also if u only use youtube and not release on spotify etc and dont get money for it ur never done it properly and thats not a good lession learned, its giving up.
Great list! I've seen it happen so many times too, talented artists who put alllll the time and money into making the music, post it once on social media once expecting it to go off and then get sad when it doesn't work. The artists who keep putting themselves out there are the ones who find an audience.
First time here. I do agree with many stuff you said and that was actually predictable... but the moment I went to hear the music you said that was your "best until now" I kinda misunderstood. I hear so many mistakes in that mix and obviously not a really new and exciting idea... So I don't get it.
Thanks so much for making this video. I’ve watched a bunch of your videos and this is the one that connected best for me. Partly because this is useful advice that I’m at the stage where it might soon be useful, but also because you seeem to be communicating authentically about your experience. Less shiny, more real, much appreciated.
Hello Jon, hope all is well with you Vanessa and Baby. It’s been a while I stopped making music but I want to get back. Thanks for this advice. I felt this video so much.
Mannn I am on the exact same path as you seriously i was even thinking about the rental place for the studio but I am ready to change myself I am ready to change things around. thank you for sharing mann
Damn John, sorry to hear about the cancellation. I can't believe that happened again, but it won't stop you and that is something many people and I look up to.
I checked out ur new project Against the A.I. and i was looking forward to it coz i like modern Techno but man ur Kicks are not techno they are wayyy too soft. Everything else is cool but a good Techno track needs to have a good hard kick and u are too used to make very soft pop music so i hope u will change that in the future to be on par with artists like Mark Dekoda or even Big Room Techno like Maddix ;)
Hey Jon. I stumbled on your channel while searching for some mixing tips on edm in logicx. I went few videos back and thought I will write my thought to you. You mentioned that you might quit your current channel as you are going to be building a new one. Let me stop you right there. Grass is not any greener on the other side and one channel does not exclude the other. Everyone hits a wall at one point NO EXCEPTIONS. 139000 subscribers and you want to close it? gathering from your thought and expression you are at that moment where things are not as they should be. The funny thing is that what I’m writing to you, you already know all of it, but sometimes we need to hear it from a complete stranger. I guess like your videos state, sometimes small tweaks make a big difference. Just like mixing. If you held privet or group mixing/ producing sessions, donation button for tips templates for different genres etc…. Your skill is great, amazing explanations and tips. Hope to see some new videos and shorts soon.
the harsh thruth to suceed in anything you need money + knowledge , in producing music you need money for the right gears not a lot to be precise $6k could bring you the best one channel in the universe and of course you need a room that's the money side and again if you don't have the complete knowledge you can't make a hit with those gears it's simple no matter were you are in the world suffice to upload a hit in youtube it's gonna become virale with a small push of ads and you don' need to contact any A&R if it's a virale hit song in internet they gonna contact you

You forgot to say the number 1 mistake that you keep making: Gear, studio, accoustics won't make any difference to your music.
I learned some of the mistakes the hard way

Excellent Jon, would love a modern day video of examples of how to promote, cheers :)
That’s truly amazing! Let’s stay in touch!
Seeing all the work you put into that place..building it up...and now having to move it all out...really horrible.
Rock n roll man!

That minimoog
👌👌💯
How do you promote music? What actually works for you? (I've tried adds and it's a waste of money).
Solid Wisdom here

For the different genres just take another brand name and push it
