I have to say having worked security both armed and unarmed this is a problem in the industry, most companies make guards feel so incredibly scared of ever actually using force or going hands on at all for fear of massive liability and sanctions against them that this is the result, a bunch of people standing around looking good in a uniform and doing utterly nothing.
Security Guards = are mainly trained to only observe and report, they're not the police.

The woman was obviously aggravated her phone was stolen but to walk up on a group of men you know ZERO about with an attitude and assume because you're female they won't touch you is just plain stupid. I took a security job for a few months right after the Marines. They're legally not allowed to do much aside from call police.

I was a previous security for Allied Universal. They told me to never arrest under ANY circumstances unless I'm attacked. This is exactly what they did.
The better thing to do would be to do is to arrest the children properly and allow the cops to come, to protect others. Especially since there is cameras.
Let's just say I left a week ago and I am so happy I don't have to deal with that anymore. I'm not saying it's better to take action, but that I should be able to take action when I am required to.

Yeah as a rule I don't step in for strangers, with the sole exception being on behalf of minors, and I mean tender aged minors not teenagers who should know better. People have the same constitutional rights I do. If they chose not to carry that's their choice, and their consequences. I'll protect myself and my family most of whom also conceal carry.
So, morally, I feel compelled to help a victim in the event that odds are stacked heavily against, but the point you make is critical: If your family is present, you cannot possibly claim to prioritize protection of your own family if you get yourself involved; the moment you inject yourself into the conflict you put your own family at risk.
@@justdrewit2219 yup precisely. 2 year ago me and my wife were driving home from a dinner date and we got t boned in an intersection. The drive bolted so we chased them down. Turned out it wasn't 1 guy it was 4 guys, the car was hot and they were all armed. They finally pulled over several miles later piled out and pointed their guns at us. Thankfully the cops were already looking for them and she was on the phone with them so in less than a minute like half a dozen cruisers came flying in and they scattered. The next day I went to apply for my concealed carry permit and bought my first handgun and scheduled classes. I've hunted* most my life but never owned a pistol before that. I also learned a valuable lesson. When I'm with my loved ones, their saftey trumps my pride or any physical damage done to my property.
I would love to see 2 gun owners get into a fight, see who has the quicker draw, since most of you are just waiting for a moment to use that gun.
Safe to say that the victim voted for this stuff. When I look at the election results in my liberal city and see like 82% blue it pretty much dissolves any propensity I might have to step in on behalf of fellow citizens, because ~82% of them would have voted for the problem they're experiencing. Not how I'd like my society to be, but alas.

I don't know what the security gaurds are trained to do or what their company policy is, but I don't know of any police department that would see " a person was actively beaten in your presence, at least twice." And not decide to have a sereios talk with the officer about what they did and what to do differently next time, if they allow their to be a "next time".
Unarmed guards are under specific orders not to get physical unless they themselves are attacked. Even then they can't perform takedowns - or even throw a punch. All they can do is try to keep the attacker away from them.

i personally always thought i'd be the type to say not my problem if there was an encounter involving people i didn't know, then riding the bus home from work when it stopped at a stop a younger man shoved an older man then pulled out what appeared to be a gun and pointed it at him with no thought process i got up and started making my way to the door of the bus, i don't honestly know what i was going to do because it was just sort of auto pilot and i felt like an idiot after wards because all i'd have done is get my self hurt or killed, but i know how i'd react now

I am an Illinois concealed carry permit holder and literally just got involved as a third party on Friday… I observed two drunks were fighting while on a walk. I observed until the losing man was on the ground and had been beaten till bloody in the face then was put in a chokehold, but the second he tapped and the other man failed to release I screamed about 4 times to let him up then I pulled him off. I stayed Long enough to see that he would be attacked again and then left. I did not show my firearm!!!
I believe that I would have waited to get involved. And definitely NOT taken pictures that obviously!!! These are obviously inner city kids and taking photos like this will for sure make them mad. If you step in then get the lady to safety and get out of there

When I was in high school, my friend had a cell phone and I had the same model. I was texting him during class, I know, shame on me, trying to talk to him during a boring portion of the class. I asked him a few moments later through hand signal if he got my messages and he told me that he lost his phone. I continue to text it and I noticed another student a few seats away from him kept looking at his own phone... which oddly enough looked exactly like mine and nobody had seen him with it the day before. So I finally got the idea to call it and it rang... in the wrong hands. The other student who I suspected of having my friend's phone definitely had my friend's phone. But no matter how many times we showed the teacher, the principal, and the police officer stationed at our school, the bad student still try to deny it and say that it was his phone. My friend ended up having his parents come to the school with a copy of their phone bill to prove that it was their phone number. People are pathetic. I have also witnessed this in a hardware store. A lady walked in and picked another lady's purse up out of her cart and proceeded to scream that it was hers and the real owner was the thief. As soon as we pointed out that there were security cameras she dropped the first and ran out the door. Don't smoke crack.

Generally true, but many people today are not rational. I have seen it so many times in my neighborhood where someone will provoke someone just to invent a confrontation because they were trying to fight that day. Example: group of guys standing in the street at the edge of someone's driveway. Person who owns driveway asks them to move off the edge of their driveway so they can back their car out. Group of guys immediately take that as a threat for no reason and attack the person who asked them move.
