When you shared about feeling like you were living for everyone but yourself, that really resonated with me. It’s one of the biggest things I had no clue I’d experience in this phase of my life. I’m expecting again and hoping I can make space for myself along the way. 💗

Thank you so much for discussing the changes in your mental health during weaning from breastfeeding! I thankfully never experienced ppd but the depression that came the week I weaned from breastfeeding was absolutely debilitating. When I finally read online that it was common for this to happen during the weaning process it made it so much more bearable but right away I literally thought I was going insane. It is so important to let mama's know that this is common and normal.

Just dont wean until later. I weaned at 24 months and had ZERO issues emotionally while weaning. I tried to wean earlier and it made me emotionally upset. There is no reason to ignore your emotions, do what makes you happy😃

I loveeeee this style of video from you!! And it’s so good to see your personality shine even more than usual - your hair looks lovely and those outfits really suit you 🥰 also this is super helpful because my friend has a baby around the similar age and I’ve not had children (32 and no relationship ever - it just doesn’t appeal to me personally - yay for trauma 😅 - but love spending time with her little one) so I have no idea what she’s going through and want to understand more and hadn’t even realised about the weaning and that causing different feelings - which is so obvious now you’ve spoken about it!! Really hope you’re doing well since this was posted and would love to see more of this style from you 🥰💗

This is my favorite video to date! What an amazing idea to celebrate yourself and this significant transitional time in motherhood. I SO wish I’d thought of this because it is so sad/hard in some ways and also so freeing/exciting. Also- your haul was amazing- I want everything you bought (especially the pink sweatshirt). And yes to the cannabis exploration! I waited even longer before I dipped my toe and I’m actually not that into it but it was fun to finally give myself permission 🤪. Love your content!

The green dress was so pretty. The color suits you! Breastfeeding is tough! I nursed my first kiddo for about 15 months with no issues but, my second wouldn't latch, so I spent a whole year exclusively pumping. Talk about being glad it was coming to an end! I was a little sad but so relieved,

Thank you for sharing! As I watch this I am literally breastfeeding my soon to be (Oct 16th) 1 year old son. He is my last baby and I have been pregnant/nursing/trying to get pregnant for OVER 10 YEARS! Wow, I just put that all together. No wonder I feel tired. LOL! We are starting to wean, basically little man loves food so doesn't seek to nurse as often. And I appreciate SO MUCH you mentioning mental health because I was noticing that I was experiencing some depressive episodes lately and it makes complete sense now, putting 2 and 2 together, that I am going through a natural hormone shift. I am very inspired to get a little GLOW UP myself when my little man is weaned! I am gonna start figuring out what I want that to look like and create a celebration of ending this phase versus the tremendous sadness I have been experiencing!

Abbey, this video is so encouraging for me although I am just at the beginning of this whole process. I’ve never seen a video like this and it gave me confidence, that although this process is almost out of our control, it can be like a project that has its completion. I would switch with you or any woman being in that stage of their life and having two beautiful children, but you gave me peace that this hard and heartbreaking journey can have a very positive outcome. Thank you for that and congratulations on getting there! It’s not easy, especially when you hit the bumps at the very beginning. You are a great inspiration!

With my first child, I pumped and nursed for about 5 months...all the while, I was getting sicker and sicker and my output was lower and lower. At the 5 month mark, I was so sick I ended up in the ICU (with 2 autoimmune diseases) and I had to take medicine that I couldn't breasfeed with. And I was so devesated by it that I really struggled for a good month as I weaned immediately, so much pain...but she took to the bottle no problem at all. It was harder on me than it ever was on her. I spent weeks crying and feeling like a failure before I could cope and realize that she was still healthy and I had done the best I could with the condition I was in.
With my second child, I was able to get off some of those medications and I breastfed him for 18 months. By then I needed one of my medications back that would not be good for him, but it took a month to wean him and I wasn't really full at all anymore and he mainly did it for comfort. Finally I gave him his last feed one day and that was it. I didn't feel too bad because I got to feed him fo so long, much longer than my first child. He was mainly eating everything anyway. He didn't even go to bottle, he went straight to a cup. That was about 8 years ago. Eventually, you move out of the "baby" stage and honestly...it gets more fun and difficult as you see them develop into individuals with their own thoughts and personalities in the way they express to you everyday.

My Heart goes out to you... My sons are my everything. When my oldest joined the Air Force, trust, I've never been so proud. The day he left for bootcamp I thought the ache would surely never leave me. I remember thinking, and just like that.. He walked out of my life and into his own.. And that he did. Nobody ever told me, warned me how difficult this season would be. I slept in his bed for a long long time. So long that my husband just joined me, God bless his patience. Its been 6 1/2 years. He visits us often. And I still cry when he leaves. Sending you all my love xoxoxox

Hearing your story I'm so struck by what a different experience it is weaning when they are young. I've nursed both my boys past age two and nursing just kind of ends on its own. I wake up one day and realize I haven't nursed in a while and that's it. It's over. Not much going on physically or emotionally. Nursing was hard the first year with both my boys but after that it just gets easier.

CBD has really helped me with my sleep. I have anxiety and suffer from insomnia on a regular basis but since I have included a mixture of CBD/melatonin/valerian my sleepless nights are fewer and less frequent. Through experimentation though I learned that I have to have pure CBD - no THC whatsoever. THC will help with my sleep quantity but it messes with sleep quality for me. I find I have a lighter, dreamy and less restful sleep and I wake up a lot if I have THC. I think it's all trial and error and each person is going to react differently. I'm glad you found what seems to work for you and are getting more sleep. Sleep is everything especially for those who struggle with anxiety. It's tough to deal with anxiety when you're sleep deprived!

Listen, I have a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old. I. Feel. You. I’m not nursing this time but when I weaned my first around 14 months I used my last ounce to make a piece of jewelry. It’s a necklace, it’s very pretty and no one ever knows what it is unless they ask and I tell them. It’s a great little momento from that phase of life.

Oh my gosh I'm feeling your energy from getting some sleep. I have the same sleep issues as you - right down to the getting up 10 times a night to pee when you really don't have to. I would love the info on the book from your friend with all the CBDTHC research. It's legal here in Colorado too and I've been wanting to give it a try. BUT it's so hard finding real info. It looks like you found some. I want! I want! :) Love you!
