Pretty damn cool project. Being on the electronics field the first thing I thought when you showed the small magnets was "why the hell aint this guy using bigger ones with FET as switches" lol
You could also use a Low frequency oscillator with either Op-Amps or a 555 instead of an arduino to drive the FET they are way less power hungry than a microcontroller and much more simple
I've never really totaled it up lol. But not counting any tools, the 3D printer, or the filament I would guess it was about $200ish. Maybe even $250 due to my earlier tests with smaller magnets.
It really depends on the size of the container you plan to use and how full you'd like to make it too. For mine I'm guessing I used a little under 1 oz or about 20-30 ml per container. That's my best guess but I wasn't measuring it when I was putting it in the bottles. I just went by eye and tried a few different amounts to see what I liked best. Hope that helps!
Thanks! I have not made any others yet... This one was more of a proof of concept than anything else. But I have some other ideas for a more refined version of this one, I just don't know when I'll get around to making it. Time always seems to be a resource in short supply lol.
Great video! I’m very interested in re-creating this as a project with my kid, are you able to provide the links to the STL file as well as the code that you used for the Arduino programming? Thank you so much in advance.
Sorry, I love to but I can't. Right after I finished this project my PC crashed and wiped my hard drive as well. Sadly I lost all of my project files for this and some video I had filmed too.
@@gamejaeger wow, that's terrible. Hope you were able to get back up and running. If its any consolation, it happened to me once and motivated me to use cloud backup for all of my devices.
Yeah it sucks, I do something similar now too. I'm not big on cloud storage but I bought an external hard drive that I started to backup everything to. I've never had that happen before but now that it has, I'm very hesitant to hold too much data on my main PC without backing it up. Oh well, you live and learn... I'm glad you enjoyed though! It would be a fun project for your kids for sure. I felt like a little kid at times making it... I played with the ferrofluid and a magnet A LOT. lol
I Am in the middle of doing something similar but haven't got my code tweaked just right yet out of the 30-40 videos I've watched this one was the most help
That was a hard point for me as well. Never coded before so it was quite the learning experience. Thankfully there's a lot of info online that can help though, I just started googling and found what I needed eventually.
I'm going to say no, I think the best you can do is get yourself a cat. It moves by itself, grabs onto you randomly, has no electronics or magnets, can sometimes be liquid, and can't be kept in a bottle. lol
Most underrated video I've seen in a while. May the algorithm be kind to you
Thank you, I really appreciate it! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Pretty cool. I can see why you said it took awhile. That's a crazy amount of planning to get it to work but good job.
Thank you!

Thank you, I'm new to building electronics and it took me a while to figure out everything haha. I was just constantly looking stuff up lol.
Dude super awesome!
Thanks! It took a lot of time to put together so I'm glad you like it!
@@gamejaeger about how much does all of this cost?

@@gamejaeger awesome man thanks for the info!
No problem, thanks for watching!
The fact u only got 900 views is crazy. Earned a new sub from me
THANK YOU!!! I feel the same way... you should tell your friends... :)
just discovered this channel
your channel is so underrateddd
hope you can hv 1k sub soon
Thank you! I hope so too! Tell your friends! lol
I'm on a budget but I might recreate this! thanks a lot mate! you really hacked it!
Glad you liked it and have fun! Not going to lie, it was super cool playing with the ferrofluid and a magnet. I could do that for hours...
Phenomenal work!I qould puechase if i xould,keeo going👏🏾
Thank you!
Man this is incredible! Your video is clean and your editing is great. The narration is spot on! Keep up the amazing work❤
Awesome, thank you much! Glad you enjoyed it!
How much ferrofluid do i need

How much did this all cost
Maybe about $200 total? Not sure, never totaled it up...
Great job ,very well done . I am hoping to try and build one. Have you made any bigger ones?

Can you make a symbiote out of a bottle , moves by itself and grabs onto you randomly without electronics and magnets

Okay thanks anyway
Sorry I don't know of anything else that can move on its own without some kind of outside influence.
*Can I buy one from you?*
Sorry, but no. I'm flattered people like it that much but it wouldn't survive shipping unfortunately.
