I remember back in 2011/2012 that I was looking for news about Smash 4 and I saw "Smash Universe (for Wii U) and Smash Dimensions (for 3DS)". Thought it was really sick

EDIT: Now that I get a closer look I can see it is YL's dash attack, or Link's Brawl dash attack.

I would've love to have Takamaru in, and have a reboot of Mursame Castle because of his inclusion, just like Pit did.
I'm pretty sure the Gematsu leaker just got early information, since Chorus Kids and Chrom were at one point considered and Greninja was based on early concept art from Gamefreak
plus when he said "pokemon from x and y" that makes a lot of sense in retrospect since not even sakurai knew the name of the xy pokemon when he made it in smash. that's how new greninja was. greninja didnt even have a name.

This is all pretty new information to me, having only started to follow the prerelease leaks and reveals during Ultimate's cycle. That one leaker seems to have been scarily accurate though.

One of my favorite Smash 4 "Leaks" was the Professor Layton Leak.
Someone had edited the Smash 4 IMBD Page to include a credit for Christopher Robin Miller as Professor Layton.
When asked about this in an interview, he responded saying something like "I geuss I'm in that, then." and a lot of people took as confirmation that Professor Layton was to be one of the, at the time, upcoming DLC characters.
They missed the change to call Sm4sh Universe (U) and Dimensions (3D)

I think Gematsu was real but outdated, there's no way he would have guessed the WFT and the Mii Fighters' name otherwise, not to mention that characters like PacMan or Shulk were not a given back in the days.
There's also solid proof of Chrom and a Rhythm Heaven character being planned but scrapped later on (interviews, game data, the Smash Run enemies, etc), and Sakurai confirmed that they referred to Greninja as the "pokemon from X and Y" early on.
So it'd be really cool if you dedicate an entire video on it like you will with the Rayman one.
Also, a video about the mewtwoking leak from Brawl (which turned out to be true) would be cool too, since it was a big deal back in the days.
*Sakurai:* "You want Rayman and Shovel Knight in Smash as playable characters? Okay, I'll add them in as trophies because screw you"

The Rayman Artsy Omni Leak hit me so hard back in the day, since Rayman is my favorite video game mascot, so I am glad that you'll cover this leak in a seperate video.
The one "hoax" that you spent a majority of the video covering sounds like the guy had very early information since Greninja was literally just "X and Y Pokemon" till they had a name and design for him

Hobo With An Oboe the main purpose of the video was things that were eventually proven wrong even if they had guessed right on some things
What I'm saying is that the guy did have a reliable source thus making his "rumor" a fact not a hoax.

The Rayman hoax has an entire video dedicated to explaining how he did it, and it was used as a basis to launch their art channel "Smashified", which is now called "Curiomatic". It's not that bad, though I noticed an obvious decline in views on the later work. Kind of a shame, their art still looks really nice IMO.

I don't think they even really had names, once you get down to it.
Maybe in a 6th Smash game, it would be called that.

The artsi Omni rumor is what got me into smash speculation so I'm definitely partial to that one.

For some reason there was a lot of rumors about certain 64 characters getting axed (ness, cap, but Yoshi and Jigglypuff mostly)

Ummm no. The Gematsu leak was correct. It was just outdated info. Chrom was planned but was scrapped for being a clone, Robin was decided instead and Lucina was added last minute because her, Dark Pit and Dr Mario were originally alternate costumes for Marth, Pit and Mario. Also there's an unused Rhythm Heaven icon in Smash 4's Data. Like you said, however it's without a doubt outdated info. You can't get guess all these characters (especially Wii Fit) with nearly spot on accuracy. Also the Pokemon thing makes very much sense because when Smash 4 was being made XY wasn't out yet and was barely out when Greninja was revealed.
Also Bayonetta is not Platinum Games. Sega owns her rights.

Does anyone else notice that the Rayman Hoax has incorrect Mewtwo artwork? That is the most noticeable problem in the hoax, but there are a few others.

I think the thing about he not predicting chrom was because it's a fact that chrom was going to be added to the game but then sakurai said that he would be too similar to marth.

I still personally believe the Gametsu leak was real but that the leaker had old and/or hazy information because pretty much everything predicted was at least going to be a thing at some point as far as our knowledge of the game's development tells us

I personally choose never to believe any leaks unless coming from an official source like Bloody Tears and SNK trademark for Ultimate. So many times people get their hopes up over something that was never promised and than get disappointed over their own false expectations

I think the Wii Fit guy was actually a credible leaker, but his leaks were outdated, and they didn't know Chrom and Rhythm Heaven character were deconfirmed

The funniest "hoax rumor" for me was when some dude claimed Lanky kong was an assist trophy, and everyone took it seriously and started talking about it as if Lanky was bigfoot.
I didn't like Gematsu, I thought it was boring. My hype for Robin would have been high to begin with but the Gematsu deconfirmation made it even better
