    Fantastic driving! I had the misfortune to have to require the help of Paramedics twice last year. Fantastic people that really make you feel in safe hands. But damn those ambulances are uncomfortable to ride in lol. Kept my mind of my racing heart though. I was chatting to a young girl paramedic in the back with me and the distances you do and hours you work are crazy.

    Okay I'm 5 minutes in and I almost can't take it. You are shredding up the roads like crazy it's amazing. I don't know what the hell you're driving but you have acceleration like crazy! And geez why are you on the wrong side of the road and what's with all those weird squiggly things on the street LOL. From USA. The code 3 Channel is one of my favorites but it seems like they are driving a dump truck compared to this Speed Demon you have. All the same thanks for what you do. I'm going to try and finish this video but is a nail biter and this is purely an optical illusion on speed❤

    • @CymruEmergencyResponder
      @CymruEmergencyResponder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Haha thank you :) it’s has pretty good acceleration but it’s nothing compared to the ambulance I drive now! The zigzag lines are hazard warning lines that warn you that you are approaching a pedestrian crossing. They carry additional parking restrictions.

    See here in the states it annoys me when our drivers just use the stutter tone while barely letting the actual siren play as it's supposed to. Traffic reacts so much better to this. Your use of the stutter tone was perfect. Excellent video

    • @CymruEmergencyResponder

      Thank you very much Zach. I cannot understand the driving style in the US. I regularly see very unsafe practices from emergency drivers there. One handed steering, crossover steering, speed through red lights, lack of forward observation/planning. I'd be interested to know what emergency driving training they get. Here in the UK we are all trained Advanced Drivers. To drive an ambulance under emergency conditions is a 4 week advanced driving course to the same standard as Police. In those 4 weeks we practice: The System of Vehicle Control, Box Overtaking, Skid Control, Hazard Avoidance at Speed, Commentary Driving to learn forward planning etc. We do all of this in live situations on the public road and have to do 3 assessed emergency drives too. There are also several exams to pass about road signage and driving theory.

      @znovosad555 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CymruEmergencyResponder we have EVOC which covers the bare minimum of emergency driving. Focuses more on parking, and backing the vehciles up sort of thing. It just amazes me when I've been going to calls and the driver wonders why traffic wont move and they're just hitting the stutter tone the whole time.

    I know this area quite well, and i know that you passed a few speed cameras during your journey. I was curious, do they still flash you but are cancelled when reviewed or are they set to not flash emergency vehicles?

    • @CymruEmergencyResponder
      @CymruEmergencyResponder  7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I N F I N I T Y sorry for the late reply. Yes they still flash. Some get cancelled before being issued. Most ambulances have a 'gatso light' which is a steady blue light on the back of them. The camera photograph will therefore always show a blue light if the vehicle is on an emergency call so the person looking so the photo knows not t issue the ticket. Some tickets still get sent but they get appealed due to Road Traffic Act exemptions and cancelled in that way.

      @YelpBullhorn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zenon-paulking3399 ...... no they don’t. Absolutely don’t!!!
      As well as training themselves, the police oversee the training that fire engine drivers undertake. Whereas the ambulance service train themselves. And this, as anybody who watches behind-the-scenes emergency services documentaries will spot a major difference between the ambulance responses compared to those of the fire service and the police. Police and fire operate an almost “sterile cockpit” approach as operated by airline pilots. No chit-chat, just relevant and minimum talking. But if you watch any UK fly-on-the-wall ambulance service documentary you’ll see a very noticeable difference. Personally I am utterly flabbergasted at what goes on in the cab while responding to calls. They laugh and joke, and discuss dates, boyfriends and girlfriends, and what they’re having for dinner, what their favourite takeaways are...... it’s shocking to see. So much so that if anyone ever has a crash with an ambulance you should DEMAND to see onboard cctv footage if there is any.
      Don’t get me wrong..... I’ve got the utmost respect for our ambulance crews, paramedics and NHS on the whole, but the way many ambulance crews blatantly fail to concentrate on their driving when being filmed appalls me. And as it appears a major part of the TV coverage I can only assume it is the norm and goes on day-in day-out. It is truly a dangerous and unprofessional trait. Surely they have to concentrate 100% on what is a very dangerous part of their job. And how on earth can they do that when discussing last night’s Eastenders or a new pair of shoes?
