The fact that one of my favorite dog trainers is willing to put out this course online totally FREE is a huge testament to his character and professionalism.
Hi, I'm 24 years old from Indonesia. i've never had a dog and i couldn't have one, but i now i've been working as a kennel boy since the last year. I'm taking care of 8 dogs (a Malinois, a Rottweiler, 2 Dobermans, 2 Frenchies, one American Bully, and a Boxer. I was always amazed when i watched smart dogs on the internet and wondered how do people train them.. So i started to search about dog training and stuff and stumbled upon your channel! I've been following and learning a lot from your lessons since 6 months ago and applied them to the doggos and they all worked sooo well! Currently the smartest ones are the Rottie and Malinois, they are 9 and 8 months old. I'm confident that they've passed the basic obedience training! (thanks to you a lot!) Annd i'm waiting for the obedience exam for them! Now this video inspires and makes me certain that in the future hopefully i can be a Professional Dog Trainer like you! Thank you so much for your lessons Sir...!!!
I've been passionate about dogs and dog training for many years now and get asked on a frequent basis "are you a dog trainer?" and when the answer is no, "why not? You should be!" Currently the only dogs I train are my own, three German Shepherds. I'm not sure if I'll ever pursue becoming a professional dog trainer but after being encouraged to go for it for the millionth time yesterday, I decided I'd at least like to learn more as I consider it. If nothing else, I'll become an even better handler. That brought me here. Only watched a few of your videos thus far but enjoyed them and it seems this was great timing because I realized you are just starting this series. I'm excited to follow along! Thanks for putting these out there for people like me.
Hi Nate! I have off this week to bring home my 8 week old puppy and begin training. I was thinking I would love to do this professionally. Then your video popped up as a notification (since I've been studying your other videos) absolutely admire and I am grateful for all your knowledge you share! You're the BEST! THANK YOU!!
Am happy to see this new program pop up on my feed. I will keep following you, as I have been following for a little while now and you (along with two group obedience classes) have helped me with two pups so-0-0-0- much. My GSD pup has turned from a reactive puppy to a proactive young dog. Just want those who haven't followed you before to know you are the one to trust. Wishing you the best of success.
I'm in the process of a dog obedience trainer program online. Your videos have already been incredibly helpful with my pup. I've gotten Tom Roses book Dog Training with the Touch and continue to look for any other possible resources I can to help with the learning process of becoming a trainer. Thanks so much for all the information you share! Looking forward to this series!
My niece loves dogs, and is an EXCELLENT equestrian (Champion Level Horsewoman). She just finished an apprenticeship with a high level horse trainer, but he kicked her butt, it was EXTREMELY difficult. That's what she wanted to do, I think maybe not now after working 6 12 hour shifts weekly. She does agility with her Mini Aussie. She's 16 years old. She trained my GSD "wait" when he was a little, hyper puppy. She's actually a talented dog trainer, even without formal training. She's not interested in going to college (which breaks my heart), but I just sent this to her. We live in an affluent area outside Washington DC. I bet this MIGHT be a great career path for her if that's something she really wants. I get questions and training requests just walking my obedient GSD around the neighborhood, people assume I'm a trainer. This is a great area for dog trainers!! I love my niece dearly; this video will open up some interesting conversation for us. We might reach out to you with a paid Zoom call, too.💖
Thank you Nate, not new to dog training. Have assisted with puppy classes and did lots of dog sports and trials. Since I am forced to take a new direction, am training service dogs for other people with disabilities, as well as my own. I see lots of you teaching as refresher, but also some new ideas. Since we will be working with German Shepherds as well as mobility assistance dogs, love getting your advice. Blessings from Alberta, 🇨🇦
Hi Nate! Thank you for this! My pup is 11 months old, has been to training classes, and currently working in socialization, she is getting used to other people, but still isn't a fan of other dogs. She is very smart, and I look forward to following your professional training sessions to keep working on and improving my skills.
Woo hoo, perfect timing Nate!! I've been watching your videos for a few weeks, my daughter and I both bought Mal/GSD puppies. They are now 10 weeks old, super smart puppies! In two weeks watching your videos my girl has learned sit, sit pretty, touch, spin, come, off, down, release, drop it & spin. She don't have them down perfect yet, but she has a total grasp on what each command means. I'll be introducing her to more training as I continue to watch your videos. Thank you so much, you are awesome ☺️
I'm soooo excited!! Can't wait to begin. Thank you so much, Nate!! I have listened to so many YT videos, by many, many trainers, and yours are most informative, concise and pertinent!! Thx, Nate and company.. 😊
We are very excited about this series! We have used many different resources when training our puppy and your videos have always been the best, the fact that you describe the terminology and the purpose behind it throughout your videos have given us much more understanding than any other trainer has.
Sir good afternoon, I'am from the Philippine. thank you much for you training videos. It'really a big help for newbie like me to learn how to give dog basic training. Rigth now I'am still studying all your training videos. It gives me many ideas and technique on how to train a dog. More power to you and your page.
This is great information. Is there a place I can download this terminologies so I can memorize it? So very thankful and blessed I found your channel when my dog is a still a puppy.
This is awesome, Nate!! I've come very far with my reactive working line GSD, you helped so much!! He still wants to chase prey animals and small dogs, but generally now looks at me first, I call him back & reward and praise. His recall is TIGHT. I put him on place or down during walks, then hide close by, call him, and throw a "praise party", I get very excited and playful and give high value treats when he finds me...I managed to make recall very engaging & fun for him (he loves fetch, but actually comes running to recall even faster, a full on sprint each time!😂). I want to do AKC GC and Community Citizen, but he can still get reactive with dogs, that's the only thing holding us back. All the obedience has mostly been about MANAGING the problem so far. Lots of trainers suggest going to the outside of a dog park to train around distractions, but you are THE FIRST I've heard mention "desensitization" near a dog park for hours. I'm going to bring a book and read, chill with him outside the park fence, I think he's ready for that. LOVE this suggestion (you've probably made it a dozen times, it didn't sink in for me until hearing it on this video!) YOU ARE THE BEST!!😄❤🐾🌟
Thank you so much, Karina! Let me know how the desensitization training works out. I hope it helps make a difference, and you see improvements. Cheers!
Hi Nate !! I'm ready 🤓 I've whatched many of your videos (I think I watched almost all of them, even the Q&A) When I started to watch your videos I didn't know what your dog's name, and then I realized that it was called the same as mine, Ahri !!! Ahri is a 10 month old border collie, but I watched your channel since she was 2 months old, crate training and potty training was live saving so thank you!!! Soon I will start scent detection training!!!! Cheers from Colombia!!! I'm ready for your new series of videos! And I'm sorry for the last message, my only intention was to say thank you 😊🐶
Been binging on your obedience series as I’m waiting on getting my own black lab puppy. You have opened my mind and I’m loving trying to absorb everything. I’m wanting to work my dog and get it titles but needed to improve my abilities as a trainer and this series I’m hoping will help preparing me to compete with my pup once I get him. Thank you!
Excellent news. I am planning on getting a Labrador retriever for my 8 yo autistic son and plan to train him myself (hopefully as a service dog). The breeder I spoke with will have a litter born in October of (silver labs) and in the Spring a litter of yellow. We want Chocolate or Silver but original though it would be best to get the puppy in the Spring so my son could train him during the summer. Now, I’m thinking the October litter will be better as by the time summer comes the beginner puppy obedience will be established and puppy will be mature enough to work more closely with my son. I am ordering your book and watching everything you put out there. I will most likely reach out to you to schedule some zoom lessons when we’re ready to learn more advanced service type skills like how to teach dog to alert to-and hopefully minimize a meltdown and do deep pressure therapy . Your timing is perfect!! Thank you.
Awesome! I'm happy the videos are helping. Side note; I would suggest going with the yellow lab and not the silver or the chocolate. You're more likely to have issues with a chocolate or silver lab that you won't have with the yellow. theconversation.com/chocolate-labradors-die-earlier-than-yellow-or-black-and-have-more-disease-105366
Nate Schoemer thanks for getting back to me. I have been doing extensive research and had decided to not go with the Silver because of the possible health issues. I found another breeder in NJ who has Red Fox Lab puppies available. They are Irish Field trial bred litters. One litter’s sire is champion International FTCH Camgart Tommo. His pups are more $. Do you think the Red Fox labs would be a good match as they are a variation of yellow? I have spoken to so many breeders my head is starting to spin. Weighing the cost of pup, with temperament, color, and availability vs waiting lists is getting overwhelming. Advice would be appreciated.
Thank you a lot! I am grateful that I have the chance to receive all this priceless informations. Thank you for your generosity and high professionalism, and thank you for your clarity. As I said in a previous comment I am not a professional dog trainer but I started to build a way in this field. It is not easy but I feel myself high motivated. It is a fascinating art and I am quite happy for every step. So, I am very glad to watch this new video and this new series that you'll begin, yes... it is quite helpful ! !
I am so excited about this. I have been watching your videos since I new I was going to get my pup atlas. Your videos have helped me so much and inspired me to want to follow in your foot steps. I’m sure I will never be as good as you but I will strive to try.
Love love love ALL of your videos!! My Ultimate dream is to one day master dog training to the skill level that you have!! Great job on all of your hard work thank you for sharing !! Xoxo 😘🐾
Thank you so much for the priceless information. Thank you for the clarity. Thank you for giving more time to upload a videos like this.. I want to be a dog trainer like you.. Looking forward to the next tutorial video.. God bless you sir!
Found your channel a few months ago, and I'm learning a lot from it. I have my daughter's 8 month old GSD. I don't know if that's too old to start training her. but I'm going to work at it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
It is NOT TOO LATE AT ALL, I swear!!! My reactive, strongwilled German Shepherd was a nightmare on walks. I studied Nate's videos and a couple other high level trainers (Michael Ellis, Tyler Muto, Haz at Shield K9), and now our walks are mostly off leash fun adventures in a suburban environment. His recall is perfect, and when he thinks about going after a small dog, cat or rabbit, I can bring his attention back super quickly, almost immediately. At 1 1/2- 2 years old, I was routinely getting injured on walks. I learned how to train him, largely from Nate (and using the type of balanced but ENGAGING methods he uses), and now I have SHARP, SAFE, PERFECT obedience at three years old. You will have to sink some time and effort into learning classical and operant conditioning, ways to make training fun & engaging for your dog, markers & proper ways to reward, etc. But at 3 years old, walks are an off leash joy, throwing balls, sending to "place", hide & seek recalls, and using environmental objects as fun agility equipment. You CAN do it, and it will be FUN once you get past early stages!!!!😄🐾👍👍
"Old School" German Shepherd Shutzhund/IPO style training didn't even start until the German Shepherd was a year old, by the way. I'm NOT recommending that old style, it involved a LOT of aversives...but just saying, 8-12 months is a PERFECT time to start more serious training. Not too late at all. After 4-5-6 years ...learning becomes slower, more difficult (still not impossible). But you're DEFINITELY still in the best age window!!😊🐾
I’m taking notes off your videos and studying so much!!! I really badly want to continue my carrier as a dog trainer and one day own my own business of dog training!! Love your videos and cannot wait for all the videos to come form this series! I will most definitely be ordering your book once I get money!🖤
I am very excited about this new series nate! I have watched most of your videos and have made huge progress training my gsd and mal. My interest and confidence has come along in leaps and bounds and i feel this is the next step! Excited to get on board :)
I had a very gentle, obedient and loving toy poodle. I didn't even train him to be that behave and he was very easy to take care of. It makes me wonder what did I do for him to have that personality. I miss him everyday
Haven’t watched the video yet. Just wanted to preface this with that because this has been a dream of mine for a long time. But more along the lines of learning how to become a mwd or k-9 trainer. We are moving back to Florida hopefully within the next 6 months and I’ve been giving it real thought to trying to apply to Ivan Balabanov’s training facility by Tampa Bay. Thanks for all you do.
You'll spend a fortune for Ivan's training, but I'm positive you'll get a lot out of it. In the meantime (or in addition), you'll ALSO get a lot out of Nate's training. And there is NOTHING in Nate's training or style that will conflict with what Ivan does. Nate can give you and your dog a SOLID foundation, for certain! Nate really focuses on ENGAGING your dog, making it fun. So does Ivan. Both are "balanced" trainers who do use corrections. You can get very far using Nate's training alone; if you want to compete at the highest levels, Ivan can really "polish your diamond"...and polish your skills as well.
Awesome! I agree with Karina! I believe you can build a strong foundation with these videos as well as my dog training manual. Ivan Balabanov is incredible and will help you take your training to the next level. Hopefully, in the future I'll be able to train with him as well. I would also recommend his dog training book. The guy is a dog training wizard! :)
@@NateSchoemer I think you guys misunderstood what I meant. I was saying when we move to Florida I was going to try and go to work for Ivan. To learn everything from the bottom up. My problem with the videos is not related to the content. It’s more so where to start and the moving into proper sequence of skills there after.
Nate this is awesome. I took an online course and what you covered in this video was very similar to the 1st 2 weeks of class. This is awesome keep up the great work.
Love that this has popped up at this time as I’ve been looking for great news and this is it and what timing as I’ve just rescued a 6 month springer/lurcher
Hi Nate, Love all your videos as always! They are highly informative and helpful and provide much clarity whether our dogs are young or older! Any way that you could provide links to previous and subsequent lessons for your series on "become a professional dog trainer" so that it is easier to follow? :) Many thanks again for sharing your precious knowledge!
Thanks! Yes, when you go to anyone's channel, you'll see at the top a list of buttons. Home | Video | Playlists | Community | Channels | About. If you click on Playlist, you'll see all the different series available on that channel. Here's my playlist for the dog trainer series. th-cam.com/video/Oh_FjwlgAMQ/w-d-xo.html
Love Your Work Nate! Only Problem I’m Having Is Teaching My Dog To Go Play or Basically A Release When I Don’t Need Him To Do Anything & He Can Just Be A Dog For The Time Being. Help 😩 Thanks !!
everytime I watch your vids I feel like I can teach my dog anything, but then when I train my dog I realize its not that easy Lol.. as always great vid Nate 👍👍👍
This is an awesome video! Is there a way to access all the “become a professional dog trainer” lessons? It would be awesome if you can link them all in the notes to the video. :)
Hello Nate! I am an aspiring dog trainer within Southern Indiana. I have started training at my local Feeders Supply just this year and it has been going really well for me! After this session during the off season, I would love to take it to the next level and really get my name out there. This is exactly what I am looking for! Other videos online show how to train a dog, but I am in the market for how to become a trainer. I took a few classes and received certifications through Victoria Stillwell but once covid hit I had to put a stop to that temporarily. I am a huge fan of your work, I have learned so much and I would love some advice/tips to get started!
Awesome! Thanks and I'm happy the videos are helping. I have plenty more videos coming out for this series, so be sure to keep watching. If you want additional resources, I would recommend TRS, Michael Ellis, or Leerburg Online University. Cheers!
Did I really see you step on a dogs leash to force it down?? I’m telling Zak George on you. Jk it’s jonny from the Chicago seminar we all miss you. Great content man
Hi Nate! I just discovered your videos online and never had the terminology explained in such depth. I trained dogs professionally for 6 years with a company in Charlotte, NC. I’ve been out of the game for about 8 years and want to start my own training business. I have a few people who would like my help and just want to make sure I’m not too rusty to do them and their dogs a disservice. I am planning on getting a dog later this year to be my partner but just don’t know where to start and would appreciate any advice you could offer. Thanks!
Wish they had TH-cam when I was in highschool. Woulda loved to have had a career as one. Never feels like a job. It's like an rpg watching dogs level up.
Hi Nate, I love your videos and techniques so much! I’ve always loved dogs and want to become a professional dog trainer. I’ve been looking for an online course to become a certified dog trainer and I’ve been hearing positive and negative reviews about them. What is your opinion on getting certified? Do you need a certificate to succeed in the dog training industry? If so do you know any legit programs where I can get certified?
Thanks! No, you don't need a certification to be a professional dog trainer. However, it does help in the early stages of a dog trainer's career. For online I would recommend Leerburg online university. In-person I would recommend the Tom Rose School. Cheers!
Hey Nate. At 08:49 you say something about "Desensitization". Is there something from you with more content on this topic? I have an X-Herder (Malinois/Hollandse Herder) that has a very big problem with this. He is 16 months old and yesterday, due to his difficulty concentrating, we failed the first obedience test. I've already watched your videos on the subject "focused heel" etc. but i need help with these Hormone-driven triggers (Other dogs and markings from other dogs). Greetings from germany.
Thanks! Yes, I have a video coming out on that in two weeks. However, I do speak about it more in my Q&A videos. You can see that series here: th-cam.com/video/3lBJFcWiAzk/w-d-xo.html
I've always wanted to become a dog trainer! I've always wanted to learn to train for guard dogs, police dogs, and diabetic alert dogs! Do you teach that?
I'm going to be making some videos on remote collar training in this course. If you want to learn about it now, I have a section in my dog training manual about remote collar training and how to teach and use it with your dog. If you want a training video series, then I would suggest this course: leerburg.com/ellis-ecollar.php Dog Training Manual: amzn.to/2P2tyQH
The fact that one of my favorite dog trainers is willing to put out this course online totally FREE is a huge testament to his character and professionalism.
Thank you, I truly appreciate that! :)

Awesome! I would suggest starting with the basic obedience series and my dog training manual while you wait for this course. :)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing and I'm happy the video was helpful. :)
Looking forward on learning more from this series Nate!!
Thank you!
More to come! Thanks for watching! :)

I am so excited about this. I have been watching your videos since I new I was going to get my pup atlas. Your videos have helped me so much and inspired me to want to follow in your foot steps. I’m sure I will never be as good as you but I will strive to try.
Thanks! And you never know, you could very well become a much better dog trainer than me. :)
My pleasure. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel and I'm happy the videos are helpful. Cheers!
After 4-5-6 years
...learning becomes slower, more difficult (still not impossible). But you're DEFINITELY still in the best age window!!😊🐾
Yes, it's never too late to start training. Plus, it's a great way to build a stronger relationship with your dog. :)
Hi Nate . It would be awesome if you did a series on becoming a dog trainer .
Thanks! :)
Great video, Nate. The editing is on point.
Thank you, Kevin!
This is exactly what I needed, thank you so much. And keep doing what you are doing, you do incredible and amazing things, God bless.
Thank you, Sydney! :)

Love your videos and cannot wait for all the videos to come form this series! I will most definitely be ordering your book once I get money!🖤
Awesome! Thank you for the support and I'm happy the videos are helping! :)

Thanks, Nate. I enjoy your videos & learn so much from them. Can you do one or refer me to one of your videos on hand signals, please?

Thank you for doing this!!!
My pleasure and thanks for watching! :)
thank you
Thank you for watching and supporting! :)
Just Perfect 🔥 Thank you 😊
Thank you for watching and commenting. Cheers!
Thank you so mutch honestly you have the best dog training videos
Nate, YOU ARE AMAZING :D
Nate this is awesome. I took an online course and what you covered in this video was very similar to the 1st 2 weeks of class. This is awesome keep up the great work.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and supporting! :)
I would really like videos where the owner uses wheelchair. In Denmark we don’t have training that can help me train my dog.
I'll try to make one with wheelchair training in the future. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)
Thank you for this! I learn a lot from you and will keep on following all video.
Love that this has popped up at this time as I’ve been looking for great news and this is it and what timing as I’ve just rescued a 6 month springer/lurcher
That's Awesome!
You're the best! Thank you.
Thanks so much.
Love Your Work Nate! Only Problem I’m Having Is Teaching My Dog To Go Play or Basically A Release When I Don’t Need Him To Do Anything & He Can Just Be A Dog For The Time Being. Help 😩 Thanks !!
Thanks! It sounds like your dog loves being around you. Remember, our dogs will always do whatever is most motivating. :)
This is what I was looking for...that k you for this
Awesome! Thanks for watching and supporting! :)
thx Nate
My pleasure. Thanks for watching and supporting, Chris! :)
everytime I watch your vids I feel like I can teach my dog anything, but then when I train my dog I realize its not that easy Lol.. as always great vid Nate 👍👍👍
Haha! Thanks! :)
This is an awesome video! Is there a way to access all the “become a professional dog trainer” lessons? It would be awesome if you can link them all in the notes to the video. :)
Thanks! I've only released two episodes in the series so far. :) All the videos will be in this playlist: th-cam.com/video/Oh_FjwlgAMQ/w-d-xo.html
@@NateSchoemer fantastic, thank you!!!
Thanks for sharing, video was awesome. Music audio a bit loud at time, hard to hear you =)
Thanks, I appreciate that and thanks for the feedback. Cheers!
amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video Nate!! Going to try and turn it into a jobby lol
Awesome and thanks!
Cheers!
Great Course!
Saw the Jiu Jitsu shirt and instantly knew I’d like this guy
Did I really see you step on a dogs leash to force it down?? I’m telling Zak George on you. Jk it’s jonny from the Chicago seminar we all miss you. Great content man
Hahaha! Thanks, Jonny!
It was a a beatifull lesson my master
Thank you 🙏
Thanks!
I am 11 yo.I do not have a dog.Will I binge watch this playlist?Absolutely.
Thanks!
Wish they had TH-cam when I was in highschool. Woulda loved to have had a career as one. Never feels like a job. It's like an rpg watching dogs level up.
Yes, I feel like I haven't worked in years. :)
@@NateSchoemer Nice to hear, i'm looking forward to it ♥️ and thanks for the Q&A video link!
Thanks fro sharing for free ver informative ❤
How fantastic are you Nate..this is brilliant..thank you so much.💋🐕
Thanks, Jennifer! :)
I've always wanted to become a dog trainer! I've always wanted to learn to train for guard dogs, police dogs, and diabetic alert dogs! Do you teach that?
Due to the pandemic, my dogs have little or no training in vehicles. They are afraid of big trucks. Getting them in a vehicle is very difficult.
Check out this video: th-cam.com/video/nyPgJIA39Gw/w-d-xo.html
I have questions about an E Collar. What’s the best way to use them and do you have a video on this subject
I'm going to be making some videos on remote collar training in this course. If you want to learn about it now, I have a section in my dog training manual about remote collar training and how to teach and use it with your dog. If you want a training video series, then I would suggest this course: leerburg.com/ellis-ecollar.php
Dog Training Manual: amzn.to/2P2tyQH
Here’s a freebie for you for all you’ve done for me
Do video on dealing with those clients that’s push back on everything I know I need it
Hello Nate, is this something I could begin with my 6.5 month old german shepherd puppy? Kind regards Joanne
Yes. :)
@@NateSchoemer thank you, count me in then 🐺
