    For all the musicians who feel this , what your doing is a hobby and nothing more if you're relying on friends and family. Accept that reality and aim your focus elsewhere, stop expecting a blank check of support when everyone is also trying to live.

    Needed this. Wanted so badly to impress my friends and family but they say its ok. Yet there are strangers who have reached out to me saying my beats are dope af. Reality you just gotta deal with

      Id say more often its friends and family who tell mediocre "artists" that they're awesome and the next Beatles -- and then those people have a false sense of reality -- and get frustrated when nobody else "gets them". Turns out they're just not that good.

    When strangers come up and say amazing things about your performance yet friends/family say absolutely nothing - not a single word - you wonder what is going on. Sometimes all you are looking for a word of encouragement from family/friends and not necessarily a fan following. Never fully understand this, it feels awkward. But you are right, we have to learn to let go of expectations be strong and focus on your passion; artists are emotional people though!

    Great video! We cannot build a career on family and friends. Make great music and learn how to find and build an audience. I have learned this the hard way.

      If you been there for friends in need and almost always shared their business and other stuff (even if yoy u didnt like it) but did it because you their friend and want to show support. But they wont even share ONE post of my music Nah they owe me big time IMO but screw them! I'm good now. Fans from all over the world.

    I agree somewhat. However, real friends will still support you, otherwise they might not be your friends. They don’t have to be fans per say, but I don’t like to make excuses for people who just don’t want to see you successful. That being said , your real friends will be empathetic to you. But good video.

    ii would agree with most of this, however, it discounts the dysfunctional family that completely ignore you in general and your success as a musician - which they can clearly see online - and never mention it to you in conversation. The only time someone said anything positive to me was when I had a hit in another country and had a radio interview. I got a call all the way from Ontario and I thought, wow, you noticed I'm a singer? FFS. Some people are dead ass JEALOUS. I've had one family member that was really kind and sent me a note to tell me he admired my accomplishments despite my setbacks - that is enough, i never need anything from this person, no likes, no money, nothing. To acknowledge those you love, just once, should be an expectation in any relationship that is supposed to nurture you. Expecting constant attention is a problem so this message is really needed. I would never beg for attention.

    This is a very good message that is not often talked about in music marketing. It didn't take long for me to realize the importance of this and that I didn't want to be that musician who expects my friends to buy my album. If you expect that prepare to almost always be disappointed. If anyone is interested I will for sure give them my website so they can listen to it there, but other than that I expect nothing. It's very unhealthy to expect your friends to buy an album and it puts pressure on them. In fact, it could destroy a friendship before it even begins. The last thing you want is a potential new friend to think you're making friends with them just because you want them to buy your music. That's an automatic turn off every time.

    Good advice. Ask yourself “Do I want someone to stroke my ego so I feel good while avoiding a reality check, or truth I can utilize to become a better musician?” Along these lines is allowing people to hang-out during rehearsals. Big mistake. Are you rehearsing to improve or as an excuse to party? I firmly, but politely, inform people that we don’t allow people to hang-out during rehearsal because we’re working. Then follow-up with we appreciate their interest and would like them to come by when we test-run the sets (play in front of a small group of people for feedback).

    To be real, us as artists need more of an explanation from friends and family. Why we don't receive as much support from them as celebrities do. We really should stop letting people skate by on that question. It's not selfish, when I make it alone ..friends and family expect their lives to change too....so I'm confused why people don't support more up and coming artists in their endeavors...the audience seems to be selfish..because you didn't create that moment with "jay-z" ...who ever gave jay-z a handout and put him in position to be there...force-fed him & many other artists to us early...so I assume whomever is force-fed to the people by these "machine"...will slip in unnoticed and garnish a nice sized fanbase quite fast. The game is all corrupt. To the point the purpose of this video is tarnished along with it.

    • @SpadeDarko
      @SpadeDarko 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@SJ-ce6gc idk, the logical kind....where if this person you know, makes great music, where's the harm in spreading the word. About said artist or song..or buying their merch, supporting their brand, the way you see people support someone they have never met & you know doesn't need the true support, like when people know they have friends or loved ones who do music & take it seriously but you post lil baby, and nba youngboy music videos all day... neither of them were affected by the shares, and still have no clue you exist...and your musical cousin, brother, nephew, friend, etc...could've used that share & push ....admiration.....or just simply to believe in him the way you believe in future, gotti, dolph...and others...Believe it or not. Some people are envious of folks with something going for themselves, takin advantage of gifts, or finding their purpose....seeing you win makes empty folks mad. The average music consumer Is empty + it's usually those who are personally closest to us as well 🤷

    • @SpadeDarko
      @SpadeDarko 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SJ-ce6gc I don't even think it's a question of how smaller acts are supported or the kind... I just think overall it's support that's needed in general. The support in reference to immediate family to global reach that mainstream acts receive in comparison to independent underground acts is almost laughable...especially when we are the endless irrefutable house of obvious talent people like to ignore. Until one of us sign a major.

    January covid-19 2022
    Ultimately Your success or failure in the music business is got nothing to do with your family or friends support. It may be because they see what you cannot. That is, your career choice is risky and unstable to begin with anyway.The
    belief in ones- is good, and can help to overcome the rejection. But, will it sustain you. Help you persevere through the mine-field of Industry obstacles is the question? The public buys only what the industry hype-machine promotes. It doesn't care if you have family or friends. Temporary fair-weather fan support by the numbers is all that matters. First! are you exploitable regardless of the talents you think possess. How profitable can you be used to sell product. Truthfully the music industry has always been oversaturated with individuals trying to do the very same thing you endeavor.
    There is no clear-cut formula for success, public adulation and fame.
    There's no guarantee. The uncertainties are great. Let the Illusions continue as many before you have. How you arrived, and how you survive --who knows!
    But your outcome will be different,
    so you think. But keep hope alive.

    Life has caused me to start from scratch again so I’m recording on BandLab with just my iPad and some headphones. Never had to mix or engineer my own music before but I’ll get there. Compared to the next couple of tracks I’m working on, my mixes aren’t that good but if you like lyricism come check me out. My 9 year old son got me back to making music but I honestly can’t rely on just his feedback so I’d appreciate if any of wouldn’t mind taking the time to listen to a track or 2 (suggestions: Sleep Away the Pain, Getting Old, and Storm Chaser). The next video/songs will have Much better mix downs.

    Hi. I watched this TH-cam yesterday. Even though I am not in the business, I study the demonic side of the industry. Yes ... I am a Christian. You are very articulate and seem very interested in helping these newbies when they come on board. I watched Travis Scott's concert at Astrofest. The crowds could even feel the demonic oppression and heaviness. They do curse the crowds before the concert. At one point I saw Travis shapeshift. If you didn't know what you were looking for, you would never see it. It happens in a second of time. My question is this...What happens to him now? I realize the courts could be tied up a long time with all the suits filed. What about his career? Thank you.
