Hi, I have been searching through lots of videos for something I assumed would be frequently done and I'm hoping you could help. How would I place a rectablular border around a word in design space and contol the thickness of it? For instance if I were to make a Welcome or Open sign and have a 1/4" border around it. Once cut I would use as a stencil . I'm still pretty new to all this and weeding through an overflow of information.
You give the best tutorials! Simple, eat to understand, straight to the point and no unnecessary side conversations that take up minutes of extra time. I won't watch anyone except you from now on! Thank you!
Thank you this is such a direct easy and straightforward demonstration without all the chitter chat. You are amazing. I can't wait to try the weeding box never knew of it till now. One question I have is would you use this when cutting fabric? I haven't been brave enough to try cutting fabric out yet.
Hi Chez, Sorry we missed this question before. You could use it when cutting fabric but it wouldn't be necessary for weeding, since you don't have to weed fabric after it is cut. Have you looked into Terial magic? It is an awesome stabilizer for cutting fabric. www.amazon.com/Terial-Arts-Magic-Fabric-Spray/dp/B00KIFBMKO
Is the purpose of this only to have even sides that will help you to place on your object? I'm not sure why you wouldn't just cut the image out in the shape of a box then weed?
how do you use registration points to make line up of different colors in project? I can 't find a clear video on how to set this up .. for cutting and placement
Hi Rose, If you have a multi layer design then you will need to ungroup the design first. To do that click on your image and then there is an option in the top right hand corner layers panel. Once it is ungrouped then you can add the weeding box to each individual layer. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you :) I learned something new today. I have a question, I am fairly new to Cricut & EV When working with your pattern vinyl, I heard you say that you do not need a mat to cut on? Is that true for all your vinyl? Does all vinyl come with transfer attached?
Hi, if you are using a Cricut Explore, Air, Air 2 or a One then you can do it without a mat. Otherwise you will need a mat to cut it. The other thing that we talked about is that our patterned vinyl already has the transfer mask on it. That is the clear carrier sheet so that you work with it the same way as you would any other type of heat transfer that we carry. There are other types out there that do not include it and you would need to apply it before adhering it to your project. We wanted to eliminate that step for you and make it as easy as possible to use. Hopefully that helps. Here is a link to the patterned HTV as well as a link to a basic overview for the vinyl. expressionsvinyl.com/patterned-vinyl/patterned-heat-transfer/ Here is the video - th-cam.com/video/r87JGMNZirc/w-d-xo.html
Hi Carol, Nope no mat. :) As long as your vinyl fits under the rollers and you don't cut all the way through the backing paper you are good to go. You want to just cut through the vinyl and the backing paper acts as your mat.
That is so cool... so you can tell I am new to this... (1 year) learned so much from everyone on TH-cam, but how do you know how to set the Cricut? I hate spending money on mats... SPEND A LOT.... LOL
Omg I've been doing it the hard way (make score line and change them to cut!) lol Idk whos video I watched that told me to do that, but Im glad I found yours before I had to pull my hair out. Thank you!
can you use this technique with HTV? I tried using this technique on a multi-layer design- it didn't work... is it only for single layers? I also saw someone said NO MAT? I'm using a cricut air2 and I hate how the vinyl sheets curl up after I peel them off. Thanks!
Yes this works great with HTV as well. No mat is life changing! Check out this video JoAnn did that explains it more. th-cam.com/video/dz4MwfDFjzY/w-d-xo.html
Please let us know why the weeding box is a "life saver" as you suggest. Watched the video and still dont know why its a life saver? My suggestion is add the "why" up front in your video so we know where you're going. Thanks.
Hi, thank you for your feedback. It is a lifesaver when you are trying to weed large sheets of vinyl that have a lot of different words or images on them. It helps to do small sections at a time as well as helps conserve your vinyl. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thanks!
Please comment on Cricut’s NEW (3-13-21) policy forcing users to subscribe to Cricut Access just to be able to upload more than 20 personal uploads a month. This policy makes the expensive Cricut machines I own (I own three machines) virtually useless unless I pay for their subscription. I design on other platforms because Design Space is not a space to design. Additionally, it is only available via the Internet and is not stable or efficient. The constant crashing causes me to lose my work or have saved work magically disappear. Will you still be promoting the Cricut products in light of this flagrant GREEDY and sneaky business decision?
Thank you!
amazing!
Thank you.
Thanks this is awesome!
Glad you like it!
Thank you
You're welcome!
thanks, great tutorial
Watched this video 3 times, still trying to remember how to do this, wish i printed more so it was ingrained into my brain... Thank You!
Thank you for the easy tutorial!!❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
Seriously the easiest person to follow. Great instructions, clear and precise .thank you
Love this great job. Be Blessed
Cool thanks!!!
I keep hearing about weeding boxes. Now I understand how. I can not wait to try this.
Thanks. I seen something and wondered how to do it.
Is there a way to make it a cut box? Like it cuts the vinyl how it should and the box gets cut through?
Hi, there is not on a Cricut unless you run it through a second time with a deeper cut setting.
Thank you!!!!!!!! So helpful
but does the weeding box work for project with multiple layers that are different colors?
Absolutely! :)
What is the box for and do you weld to or just attach
The box is so that you can weed just the area that you cut. You will just attach the box.

I just use an exacto knife and make one AFTER the cut and before weeding.
Saved as a favorite!!! Thanks!
Thanks im so excited to start using this new trick
Let us know how it works for you!

Just to clarify, you wanting to create a boarder?

Hi Lorie, Thank You so much! We're glad to hear they help you. Let us know of any additional that you may be looking for.
Still not getting the purpose of that weeding box.
Hi, it's helps during the weeding process but will be different for everyone.
@@Expressionsvinyls helps in what way?
Love it! Thank you!
I just got my cricut explore air 2, thank you so much for this video!

Excellent. Thank you!
I Love your video! Would you please pretty please make a video using this method with multi layers?
Mildred, Thank you! That is a great idea, definitely one we will add to the list!
What if my design is multiple colors? adding the attached weeding box changes everything to the same color. Is there a solution to that?
Are you wanting to cut it out in different colors or the same color?
different colors...do I add a box for each color and x-out the other images?
@@Expressionsvinyls
This was EXACTLY what I needed to know! Thank you so much!!

Hi Nancy, I think you will find this video helpful in using registration marks to line things up. th-cam.com/video/f59cA1bhWow/w-d-xo.html
I have a multilayer design. When I add the box around it and attach it changes my design to one color. How can I add the weed box with multilayers?

Expressions Vinyl thank you. I figured that out after asking. Now if the colors I need would just appear I would be very happy. Lol
Awesome
What a cool idea! I wish I would have thought of this. lol Can't wait to give it a try.
Let us know how it goes! Hopefully, it saves you a lot of frustration! :)

Hi, what are you using to transfer the vinyl?
JoAnn is using our Paper transfer tape. You can find it here. expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape-rolls.html
Awesome tip, thank you!!
I just just love you all guys, everyone at EV rocks !!!
I hope you get all supplies back soon

When taking the vinyl off the mat flip it over and peel the mat off the vinyl. Your paper doesn’t curl much at all.
Thank you for this video! I can't wait to use this technique!
Thank you! I have to make 40 names for tumblers. Would have been a weeding nightmare!
OMG, in the new Design Space they moved the Attach command. That was driving me crazy! Thank you for doing this video.
We're glad you finally found it!
Bravo! A+++ (in the voice of Ralphie's teacher)
Can you show how to do a weeding box using an iPad?
Tre, that is a great idea! I will pass that idea onto our creative team.
very helpful ~ thanks
ps, I haven't cut vinyl yet :o yep, I'm a newbie
