Beautiful designs!
Thank you! Cheers!
I tried this dipping technique instead of gluing and cutting, I Love it I made 30 in minutes! 😄💕💕
Teresa - great! A warning though - it's dangerously addictive ;)
I love using this method too, you can do it right away and it's very simple to wipe the edges off after you dipped if you get extra paint on the edges but I also use the other technique after the pour dries
Where did you get your chopsticks
Oh I have no idea 😂
I'm so glad I found your video, I like variety
Me too! :)
for sealing into the pendant trays, do you use judikins glaze?
Hi Robin, at the time of this video I was using 2-part epoxy glue. Nowadays, I use Gorilla Glue Clear. I avoid water-based glues because I believe they soften the paint and cause it to wrinkle, thus causing the dreaded 'silver spots'. I hope that helps! If you're not already aware, we have a Facebook group called 'Acrylic Pour Jewelry' where we share our work and help troubleshoot problems. Feel free to look it up! It's a huge group and everyone's very nice ^_^
thank you .. new to the art of making skins and now I love the idea of dips... love to hear you talk.
Great demo on dipping , will have to try this technique. Thanks for sharing.🌸
I finally tried this last night, and was able to dip 41 pieces. The great thing is, you save on glue used, you don't have to cut a leathery skin on each piece like before, and that saves your wrists and hands if you have carpal tunnel like I do. Thanks for sharing!
Yep it's pretty handy! Can snowball though because you can just keep dipping and keep dipping :D
SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful cells and lacing! You make it sound so common lol I’m still trying I’ll get there
Thanks Sandra! It's all about practice! I had many fails before now - and still do, sometimes! haha
I'm going to have to try this way I've done the old fashioned by pouring the paint and letting it dry for 2 days before putting the cabochon on
I usually leave it for 24 hours but don't forget it depends on your climate! In cooler climates than mine you'd need to leave it for longer :)
I am new to your channel.. i dod subscribe and hit the bell
I Really appreciate the hints to make the dipping easier and cleaner
I love to make magnets .. and always end up having to use fingernail polish remover to clean the outside of them , after trying to lift them up carefully and end up getting pain on them… So I really appreciated this
Glad I could help!
How do you make that into anything, show that?
Awesome!I just got some parchment paper given to me. YAY.
Thanks for sharing this - saw the link in the acrylic skin jewelry FB group
You're welcome, Anna! I'm glad you found it useful ^_^
This is beautiful! What kind of paint do you use?
Thanks for sharing, I also saw the link in the acrylic skin jewellery FB group.
I also do the dipping, looks brighter than with skins😊have you ever had the paint peeling off the glass as there is no glue involved? You work is beautiful 🤗
Hi there! I have never had any issues with the paint peeling off and have been wearing my pieces regularly for years :) I have heard of people dropping their pendants on the floor/bathroom bench and it breaks apart, but that's unexpected damage so it's a different thing altogether.
Thanks for your lovely words!
Hi I just watched your dipping onto cabochons, I loved the patterns on your mat , how did you achieve this , I'm new to this hobby and thoroughly enjoying it but don't know how to do this and plenty more . Thankyou , Ann
Hi Ann! There are a number of different methods you can use - here's a link to a video I did of the 'swipe' method: th-cam.com/video/6RkvbXq9Ksc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=f6wgtBnOGcRRUR1C
Feel free to join our Facebook group 'Acrylic Pour Jewelry' for more tips!
How did you get the black and white to look like a marbled effect did you pour that over the purple and cyan, I love the marbled effect after you poured the paint was that from adding the silicone for cells
Hi Gloria, after I poured the paint I applied the swipe technique. You can see a video of the technique here: th-cam.com/video/6RkvbXq9Ksc/w-d-xo.html
What is the tool you are using to stick to the cabachon in order to dip it? Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful art!!
Hi Linda! It's a chopstick with poster putty on the end :)
You said you added silicone for the cells (I think you said hair something) but do you need to wash that off when dry like I'm reading alot of people do with their paintings done with the silicone added? Thanks!
Hi there! If I'm using dried pain skins, yes, I'll wipe the skin briefly with a non-oily baby wipe before I glue. If it's a dip, no, I don't clean it off but I do make sure that the pain adheres to the glass or otherwise touch it up with a finger dipped in paint. If there's any silicone pooling on the surface of the paint, it will prevent the paint sticking to the glass, but there shouldn't be any silicone pooling if it's done correctly (stirred into the paint before pouring). I hope this helps!
This is a fantastic idea. Thanks for sharing. Do you seal it after if so what do you use?
Thanks! I seal it with UV resin if I am going to do a trayless pendant or if I am going to wire-wrap it. If I'm going to glue it into a bezel, then no, I don't seal it :)
I have some copper pendants that I concaved. How would I do an acrylics skin to fit?
Hi there! Concaved, hey! You could try dipping...I'm not sure if it would cover the surface effectively, but if it doesn't work, just clean the paint off while it's wet :) Alternatively, you could try pouring directly into the tray. It's harder to control the effect that way, but you could use a toothpick to manipulate it somewhat. Good luck!
Thank you so much for the informative tutorial! Your pieces are lovely! Can you tell me please, 1. How long do you allow the dipped piece to dry? 2. What kind of glue do you use the attach the glass to the bezel? Thank you!
Hi! Thank you! I allow 24 hours for the dip to dry. Keep in mind, I'm in a warm climate. In cooler climates, you may wish to leave it longer :)
WOW very kewl :)
Thank you for the great guide. One question- how do you remove the silicon?
Hi ziv! I use baby wipes to remove the silicone. Just make sure the type you use doesn't have any oils in the wipe.
Just curious why you remove the silicone? Does it cause problems with any adhesive? Like resin?
Hi I'm really happy to hear your attention.this is stanislaus from India..can you make a video how apply transparent rainbow dipping on acrylic beads...with all deatails of the raw materials... hope that you will.... thank you
Hi there Stanis! I don't make beads at the moment :) Perhaps someone out there has done this? Have a search on TH-cam - there's so many talented and creative people out there!
I love it too and yes as you said very addicting. I was gluing to skins or canvas and never sure if I was going to get silver spots. I have ruined so many pieces because of silver spots. This technique is very good. What do you do with skin left? Do you use it for jewelry and do you have problems with it?
I use it for jewellery :) If you aren't already, feel free to join our Facebook group Acrylic Pour Jewelry to learn, troubleshoot and share your work!

Hi Your work is lovely .... what glue do you use or can you use Diamond Glaze?
Thanks Lynn! You can use Diamond Glaze to glue the cabochon to the skin, and then to glue cab/skin to the tray I recommend using epoxy glue. Please see my other video on gluing into a tray, for advice on that :)
Would this work with just regular acrylic paints with nothing added?
To a certain degree. The Floetrol helps the paint to stay fluid and wet so that you can tip, pour, manipulate the designs and dip. Regular acrylic paint will lack the fluidity to do those things, although if you 'smeared' the paint into a design instead of pouring you could manage a similar effect. You won't get cells though.
Thanks for sharing! How much hair serum did you use in a piece this big. Thanks
Hi Corinn! Lately I don't use hair serum - I use Aussie Floetrol and Global paint and get cells. But if I do use it, I put in about 2 drops per half a cup of paint mix :)
What hair serum do you use to make cells please ,and thank you
Hi there! I use OGX Coconut Milk but it shouldn't matter as long as it has dimethicone in it (the silicone that makes the cells).
So glad u did this I was dipping mine on the curved side! ❤️
Glad you found it helpful, Edie! ^_^
How would you seal the back if not putting in a tray.?
Hi Joan, I use UV resin. You could use 2-part resin as well, although I find the UV so much easier as it's dry in 15 minutes rather than 24 hours.
When the paint is cured, do you protect it with a waterproof varnish please?
Hi Zena, not I don't find it necessary. The tray/bezel will protect the paint from any damage :)
Should I dip exactly after I pour or do I have some time?
Hi Parisa! You can leave it for a little while however a skin will form before too long and the dips may be unsuccessful. Also, the longer you leave your paint, the patterns can change so you may not get the look you're after. If you're using Floetrol in your paint mix, I'd recommend you dip within about 20 minutes after you pour :)
Love this! Which side of the freezer paper do you pour on?
Hi! Use the shiny side :) That way, you can peel the skin off and re-use the paper ;)
How long after you pour should you wait to dip?
Hi Kathy! I would recommend you dip as soon as you've manipulated your pour (ie. swiped or tilted or whatever you're planning to do to it). After a while it will form a skin on the top which would likely mar your dips.
Hi...I have been doing jewelry with skins and dipping. I have had to pull several pieces, because the silicone rises and causes a shiny, greasy spot against the glass. The pendant, cabachon and gorgeous paint design are ruined. Do you have this problem? I have started cleaning skins, like a canvas, before making jewelry, but cant do dips that way. I have done some dips on the domed, outside suurface and get amazing ,vivid designs and both sides are gorgeous if you want to not put in a pendant, varnish and to seal and use a bail. The silicone worrys me though! Any advice or thoughts?
Hi Beverly, yes, that means you're using too much silicone in your paint - try just using a drop or two. Only a little is needed! You may still get the occasional spot where the paint doesn't stick - just keep an eye on that whilst dipping and if you see one, use a pinkie finger dipped in paint to cover it up :)
what glue can we use to attach it to the metal tray bezel
Hi Mildred! I use 2-part epoxy glue to attach it to the tray/bezel. I've also used Gorilla Glue Clear :)
if u did cabs u don't like and they are dry ect how can u clean them to start again? I thought it was round side gets the paint
Hi Vicki, no you want to dip the flat side as that's the side that will sit in the tray or against the skin (if you make a trayless pendant). You can soak them in warm water for an hour or so and then you should just be able to wipe the paint right off :)
Awesome but I couldn’t hear well the name of little grey thing on the stick that hold the cabochons , can you type it for me plz
Hi Dina, it's called Blu-Tack here in Australia, but you might know it as poster putty :)
Did you use silicone in your paint to do the cabochon ? Thanks
Hi Manouchka, sometimes I do but these days, using Floetrol and Global paint, I find it makes cells without the silicone. You can, either way - I don't find it causes a problem except that if that silicone has pooled and you dip in that spot, it will repel the paint away from the glass. If that happens, just dip your pinkie finger in the paint and touch up that place on the glass and it will fix it right up :)
@@13Art is Global paint the brand name?
@@13Art what is the ratio of Floetrol and Global paint?
Yes, I believe it's been re-branded as El Dorado now :)
1 part paint to 3 parts Floetrol :)
Hi! What glue do you use after to attach them to the trays?
Hi there! Thanks for your comment :) I use 5-minute epoxy glue or Gorilla Glue Clear.

Where do I get the poster clay
Hi there! You can get it from a craft store or stationery store. In the US, it's called poster putty. Here in Australia, it's called 'Blu Tack' :)
what is the ratio of paint to floetrol? I'm interested in trying this after watching your video
Hi Gail, it depends on the thickness of the paint. There are many different paint pouring formulas, but if I am using impasto paint, my mix is 1 part paint to 3 parts Floetrol, unless it's a metallic colour in which case my mix is 1:2. For thin paint, I use 1:1 and for everything in between I use 1:2 :)
can you share how you make the paint mixture??

I did this, but i get paint on the sides, am I dipping too much?
Hey Alexandra, yeah you're probably dipping a little too deep - you only want to touch the paint to the flat side of the cab. Dipping too deep may mar the pattern. If you get paint on the sides, a cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol will take it off quick smart :)
What is the largest cabachon that you have purchased
Hi Gloria! I would say 50mm is the largest I have purchased - it makes quite a large pendant so it's not for everyone! Some people like quite large jewellery though so I try to accommodate a range of preferences :)
@@13Art what is your most popular size cabochon that you do for jewelry
Hm, good question! It depends on the product. I would say 20, 30 and 40mm for pendants and 12mm for earrings. It really depends on the customer though - some people like small, delicate jewellery and some like bulky, statement jewellery :)
Does E6000 cause silver spots?
Hi there! I have had silver spots crop up with almost every glue I've tried - including E6000. The least occurrences of silver spots have shown using 5-minute epoxy and Gorilla Glue Clear, so that's what I currently use :)
@@13Art thank you!
How big is the glass circle in video thank u
Hi Dan, there were several glass cabochons in the video. Alas, having made the video about 18 months ago, I'm not sure I'd be able to tell you now :/
For some reason the sound did not work on this video. Did you wait until the paint somewhat dried or did you dip after your poured?
I have only done one dip, but I did it while the paint was pretty wet. I didn’t have all of these cells tho. So do you have to wait on the cells, or do yours start showing up right away?
Hi Christine! I dipped right after I poured and manipulated the paint into the designs I wanted.
Kat, if you use silicone in your pour the cells should show up right away - you can use a small butane torch waved over it to bring out more cells. Depending on the density of the paints and the brand, you can also get cells without using silicone.
Where do you buy freezer paper in Australia please
Hi Pamela, the only place I've found it so far is Spotlight, at the dressmaking counter. It's used for making patterns I think? Something to do with stitching, anyway lol. The other thing you could try (I use this now) is in KMart - in the pet area, there is a silicone puppy feeding mat (it's easy to wipe clean when they make a mess while eating). The skins peel right off it and it's reusable :)
Thank you, I did manage to find it at Spotlight. I’ve also been using plastic tablecloth which has been quite successful & you can cut it up to large or small size to suit your canvas.
Great idea!
