And she no longer has a profession in science (which was progressive as she was both a woman of color and worked in the stem field) and even when she's doing science stuff it isn't because she's a scientist, is either tied into her romance with Harry or just there. In Season 2 they made her and Harry unlikable by having them in gritty love triangle/square with Abigael and Julian, while she constantly acts jealous and spiteful or stupid. Now in Season 3 while she isn't being gritty she's just mopey dopey love talk or neutral. Macy was my favorite character (and still is to some extent) but she's been downgraded ever since Mid Season 2. This episode was the ONLY time I felt she had that wallflower persona she's been missing since Season 1.

Everyone in the comments talking crap about this reboot need to go back and rewatch the OG Charmed and realize that the original series had promise from Day 1, and the showrunners squandered EVERY opportunity. I grew up watching the Original Charmed and tbh, by the end of the series, I wasnt a fan of the Charmed Ones. I understand that it was because of the time, and yadda yadda yadda, however, that doesnt mean it isnt above getting a thorough once over. If you did watch the OG series, think back to how Season 4 ended. If you need a refresher, the sisters were offered a choice: Give up their witchy ways and be normal or keep going battling demons. The fact that the Charmes Ones CHOSE to keep going at the episode end showed that they actually understood that just because they beat the Source doesnt mean evil was going to take a nap, and that they had an obligation to keep going. Fast forward to the remaining 4 seasons and it's like the Charmed Ones forgot that they are supposed to protect the innocent. Instead it was about: Who are they going to sleep with next? Is Phoebe going to keep prioritizing work over being a witch? Why is Paige relegated to a side character when she is a MAIN CHARACTER? Why is Leo being treated like a doormat? Why was Darryl used and abused, but when he finally had enough and put his foot down, he was made out to be a bad guy? Why did the Charmed Ones use their clout to have the magical community as canon fodder? Why fake your deaths and try to leave magic behind, when you LITERALLY had a get out jail free card 4 years prior? The Original show went out of it's way to make the main characters into people who put themselves above saving the world. (Post S4 of course). The only one who was actually being true to herself was Paige (when the writing didnt dial her down to the level of her sisters at this point). If y'all dont believe me, go watch the series Manic Episodes Charmed here on youtube and it's basically an in depth review of every season of the OG series. All of the info in it was taken from the show itself, and it basically shined a light on the series on how bad it was. So don't shit on this reboot for making these sisters prioritize magic over their social lives, or that the writing is shit. I promise you, the Original wasnt anything special and shitting on this doesnt make you look cool
What the OG was missing by today and future standards has NOTHING to do with what the OG was and how unproblematic it remains... This reboot is trying to include everything so much so that they're forgetting actual quality entertainment. The original didn't even claim to be empowering but was successfully so because it was good at what it did. Campy, but good; Especially in terms of escapism television.

So I have not watched season 3 yet only seasons 1 and 2. So I have no idea about her characters treatment in season 3. However, in seasons 1 and 2 the mistreatment of Macy as a character made me wonder if the writers have colorism or racial issues. Nothing was overt, but there were very subtle nuances through her character development that made me wonder about the writers.
I loved Charmed back in the day, grew up watching it with my mom haha but...its just a name. Its a way to gain publicity for the show. I don't see how it takes anything away from the original.

Is Phoebe going to keep prioritizing work over being a witch? Why is Paige relegated to a side character when she is a MAIN CHARACTER? Why is Leo being treated like a doormat? Why was Darryl used and abused, but when he finally had enough and put his foot down, he was made out to be a bad guy? Why did the Charmed Ones use their clout to have the magical community as canon fodder? Why fake your deaths and try to leave magic behind, when you LITERALLY had a get out jail free card 4 years prior?
The Original show went out of it's way to make the main characters into people who put themselves above saving the world. (Post S4 of course). The only one who was actually being true to herself was Paige (when the writing didnt dial her down to the level of her sisters at this point).
If y'all dont believe me, go watch the series Manic Episodes Charmed here on youtube and it's basically an in depth review of every season of the OG series. All of the info in it was taken from the show itself, and it basically shined a light on the series on how bad it was.
So don't shit on this reboot for making these sisters prioritize magic over their social lives, or that the writing is shit. I promise you, the Original wasnt anything special and shitting on this doesnt make you look cool

What the OG was missing by today and future standards has NOTHING to do with what the OG was and how unproblematic it remains... This reboot is trying to include everything so much so that they're forgetting actual quality entertainment. The original didn't even claim to be empowering but was successfully so because it was good at what it did. Campy, but good; Especially in terms of escapism television.

I can totally relate to that end scene.
So I have not watched season 3 yet only seasons 1 and 2. So I have no idea about her characters treatment in season 3.
However, in seasons 1 and 2 the mistreatment of Macy as a character made me wonder if the writers have colorism or racial issues.
Nothing was overt, but there were very subtle nuances through her character development that made me wonder about the writers.
Honestly if they would have called this show any other thing than charmed I would have been okay with it

I loved Charmed back in the day, grew up watching it with my mom haha but...its just a name. Its a way to gain publicity for the show. I don't see how it takes anything away from the original.
