I love the phrase "intentionalism". I consider myself a minimalist, but I think that at its core, minimalism is about being intentional. Intentionalism is more than just physical possessions, it's being intentional with relationships, friendships, employment, hobbies etc. It paints minimalism with a broader brush and helps me to consider what or who is currently adding value to my life. So excited for more of this series.
I would definitely consider my husband a minimalist. He never buys anything unless he needs it, so he actually takes the time to think about his purchases. He also doesn't use social media so he isn't tempted by ads or influencers. I need to get on his level lol.
You and Ryan changed me life and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Know that if I ever make enough money, my first big action will be to help you build the store you want to build. Love from accross the pond.
Honestly I’m really excited to be apart of this movement and to have people with similar views around me! I cannot wait to watch this series. Thank you Josh and Ryan!
I dropped the labels. Was part of that for years but the community shifted to be more extreme and exclusionary. Had enough of it. I just do whatever I feel like and don’t worry about what anyone calls it or trying to stay consistent with a certain belief system.
I've been decluttering - and I'm honestly surprised at how much random junk has been lying around. I mean, how was I living with three empty shoeboxes lying under my bed and used paper piling around me when I'm working from home. I'm looking forward to decluttering even more!
The only -ism I believe in: Intentional-ism Enough-ism Essential-ism Selective-ism Curation-ism Natural-ism Stoic-ism Epicurian-ism Appropriate-ism Simple-ism Less-ism Practical-ism And finally the, Living within your mean-ism It's not the label that matters but the intention behind it.
Your mind Joshua!!!!! I would love to get a whole bunch of archeologist and start digging around in there, just to see what else pops up! Thank you for another 1000 "ah huh" moments myself. Very good.
I began my journey in the 1990’s with “Voluntary Simplicity”. Now relabelled as “minimalism. Contrary to common beliefs, I don’t live in a bare home, nor do I deny my needs. In fact, being intentional has a lot of benefits. Contrary to stereotypes, I am not a Buddhist or ascetic. I am a Christian. My Christian heritage has many, many examples of simplicity. I would say, in my life journey, that simple gratitude is all you need. When you feel gratitude for the simplest things in life, you need nothing else. Some of my greatest inspiration has come from historic Christian writings. When the Creator is your provider, chasing after Mammon loses its shine.
Thank you for sharing this! I think that, for me, the difficult issue is to realize or identify what of all the stuff that surrounds me is useful or essential or generates me real joy, fun or pleasure; I am the kind of person who thinks "ok, I do not need this now but may be it could be useful in a future..." (Im sure you have listened to this argument or excuse plenty of times) and I keep accumulating useless and unnecesary stuff. May be there is a sort of "guide" for hesitant (insecure??) people like me that helps to let go. Thank you again for all you do. Best wishes from Buenos Aires!! - Christian
I don't have a problem with the word Minimalism or being a minimalist. I am kind of thinking though that I might adopt the word epicureanism. =) One, it begins with E and two it sounds a little sci-fi! Etha the Epicurean. I think I will start a podcast.
Minimalism is NOT poverty. Minimalism is focusing on the necessary and sufficient resources that serve your best interests. *The fewer things that you own, the fewer things that own you.* Then you can spend your precious limited time on this Earth with the people that make your life worth living.
I'm naturally a minimalist. I've always felt uncomfortable having more than I need.
Great channel!

The content is always great. But this time, the editor outdid himself. This edition was P-E-R-F-E-C-T
Yeees it was great.
Perfect length for a video! I enjoy your podcasts but sometimes 2 minutes is all you have, and all you need.
When I hear Josh talking I always feel an urge to throw all my shit away
I always mean in a good way

And finally the,
Living within your mean-ism
It's not the label that matters but the intention behind it.
This mini series is amazing and well produced! Just watched all 6. Looking forward to more if you guys decide to make them!
Love listening to your podcast everyday on my morning walk🤗
I have a friend that’s 80. She’s a minimalist and didn’t even know it😂

One of the best explications I’ve ever heard.

"...The Minimalists' new video-essay series..."
Does a more beautiful phrase exist? I think not.
I would love to call myself a minimalist. I’m fed up with being a maximalist.
For today, I filled a bag for Goodwill. Tina

I love my stoicism but it's not interchangeable with minimalism at all.
