Love taking the Sunset Ltd from Los Angeles to New Orleans east and west. But it will be great when Congress and Amtrak restores the original eastern terminus past New Orleans to Jacksonville, FL. When they do that, it will be the only Amtrak route that extends from ocean to ocean. GET IT DONE AMTRAK....GET IT DONE CONGRESS!!!!! Three days a week for the complete route is great to start.
Great video. Fun moments in your video that I noticed were that I was onboard that commuter train at 9:52 and I spot myself in the distance recording your train at 11:12, hehe. Hope you had a great time on your trip. -Jon
The USA has long used concrete ties, but there was an issue with the Quality Control of a major supplier for a while that resulted in the reversion to using wooden ones. Los Angeles Union Station, now under ownership of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and no longer owned by a real estate offshoot of the freight railroads, has recently done a major renovation of the station’s infrastructure. The tracks were all replaced and upgraded during the pandemic.
The depot in El Paso is the original depot, built in like the early 1900's when El Paso was once one of the largest and most modern cities in the southwest. Back in the days of Billy the Kid and John Wesley Harden (who's law office in downtown El Paso sadly burned down a few years back). The city is still moderately big (a little under 800k), though it seems much bigger with Juarez to the south (which is something like 1.6 million). I also believe the depot was recently restored and remolded.
The California Zephyr backs into the Denver station. Amazing experience. We arrived 7 hours late, at 2 am, so nothing was open, but the full moon made up for that. Be sure to get off the train and walk around sometimes!
Nicely done. My only issue is hanging out in the empty bedroom and using the toilet. Passengers who booked that room might arrive during the journey and they deserve a clean room and toilet. No one should enter unoccupied bedrooms.
43:50 Austin is the artsy fartsy town, that's north of San Antonio. San Antonio is the "Tex Mex" capital, known for it's blend of Mexican Vaquero, and traditional Texas Cowboy culture - as opposed to El Paso which is still VERY much traditionally old Mexico, culture wise. Austin is the arts town, known for it's live music, festivals, young hipster culture and tech. And just for posterity's sake, Dallas is the major metro center of Texas - known for it's blend of progressive culture, but with a tinge of Cowboy aesthetic. It's like Texas' version of LA. Houston is everything you think of when you think of the old show Dallas. I know that Dallas takes place in Dallas, but it's Houston they're portraying largely and ironically. Big oil and cattle money, big ol cowboy hats and bolo ties, diamonds and Balenciaga dresses at the fancy ho down. That's Houston - or at least the wealthy side of Houston.
Calling someone uneducated because they don't scurry out of your way is questionable. So is inviting yourself to sit in someone else's roo and use their toilet. (Yes, that is someone's room, they're just getting on later.)
The reason the observation car was empty was that you are supposed to stay in your cabin or seat until your ticket has been scanned. Did you realise you had your camera on its side in the dining car? Good video except for the continual use of the word "anyways". The correct word is 'anyway" no "s".
Yes that was most likely true for the coach passengers. The conductor check our tickets as we boarded the train (sleeper passengers) so we didnt have to wait to be visited.

At 28:00 minutes into the video: Those are pecan groves. You'll see more pecan groves east of El Paso on the way to Alpine.

You missed the Homebound Brew Haus at Union Station in LA. Huge beautiful space!
We were only in LA for 22 hours
You don’t need police for people sleeping in tents. That doesn’t help.!
The New Orleans Pelicans were a baseball team years ago, but are now a basketball team.

The person in charge of our car told us to use the other room ....it was official
Orygun
Not the most educated folks around here 😆
Yourself included?
Poorly done
An elderly couple, traveling just to fill time. Not a documentary. Typical of the Amtrak clientele. So perhaps these routes should be discontinued.
You have a no content YT channel....it shows. We were on vacation
