🎮 Comment First thing: I Hex-cheated! Here is why: The game uses coins to buy new tracks and mounts. However, you cannot get enough coins in one go even if you come in first every race and go perfect on the bonus rounds. So grinding was a must in this game especially if you wanted to unlock the final track which costs 100000 coins! And you get like 7000-8000 coins in the race before. Have fun doing that 15 times.. or more like 30 times since you also need the best mount to win. This of course is quite inconvenient for a Longplay so that's why I hex edited the coin number. The game itself is.. well. It is a running/racing game like Sonic R. And that means the controls are just plain awful. The concept of a character that runs but still uses an acceleration button like a car just doesn’t work. It took me a lot of savestate/TAS magic to make it look as fluid as it does. Especially getting all the coins in the bonus games. Also you have zero air control but you still turn around which just gives you this awful “Mooooooove” feeling. I take any cheesy Mario Kart clone over this.
I haven't played this game before, but it sounds awful. Who thought it was a good idea to lock basic progression behind money, and make the required amount so high? And while the controls make sense because you're riding the back of an animal, that doesn't excuse them from being awful. If you're having trouble going left and right in a racing game, the controls might need to be improved a little bit
All I wanna know is, can you turn off the footstep sound? The whole point of finding a Kart64 replacement is I'm sick of the same sight and sounds for literally decades, but that *thud*thud* is aggravating after a single minute. 🤦
Oh gawd I used to LOVE this game and Bomberman Party Edition too! I love the cinematics from the intros and how they bring us to the story of their world… It’s funny how their ship is a giant Bomberman! lol xD My favorite Louies were the blue, yellow and black ones. I wish that there had been Bomberman series because it has an amazing potential!
the funracer back then were so much more creative than nowadays. just diddy kong racing, snowboard kids and bomberman fantasy race are the best examples for it
The Japanese version its actually way more forgiving as it comes to coin prices, The other versions suffered from the greedy inflation taxes to make the game artificially longer at the cost of stupid grinding.
Not to mention the opponents were literally roided out, like the jp version was already hard but english one was borderline criminal for a childrens game

My superb memory is my favorite part of Bomberman Fantasy Race, when i was a little boy in this game! This is fantastic

Never knew Bomberman had a kart racer in its line-up but it looks cool, bright, and sort of fun in a way. Thanks for the video.
