This worked perfectly. I applied some force to the bumper and I could just hear something squeeze and then could click LB as many times as I wanted with it registering. Thanks!
Amazing fix, I had no idea how much that RB was holding me back. Went god mode on Fornite, as I now have perfect control. Thank you!!! P.S a flat head works just fine to remove the faceplate, just start at the bumber create a little seperation via a 45 degree rotation and continue the process slowly across both sides of the controller.
This does fix it however it’s not a permanent fix and I recommend spraying it at least 2 or 3 times before closing the cover back on. For me this only fixed the double clicking issue I fixed the unresponsive button by flipping the plastic piece on one of the 3 other sides because after awhile the plastic piece has an indent from pressing the button many times so flipping to the one of the other flaps to make it as if the plastic piece is new
Hey! I sprayed mine 2 times. 10-15 hours after spraying everything works flawlessly. Had another controller before, spraying did not help at all. So it just worth trying, but not a guaranteed fix.
You don't need to use wd40 you could use alittle alcohol with a q tip this also works with the white and black series pro it worked for me like a charm
I saw a few others mention not to use WD-40 that you show using. You will want to use "WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner Spray" or "BW-100" vs the regular WD-40. You could also use 97-99% Isopropyl Alcohol on a Q-Tip. The regular WD-40 will leave a residue that will accumulate dust and grime over time, the others are quick drying cleaners for use on electrical components and circuits.
Would 91% be safe for the bumper and other parts of the controller (such as the joysticks)? I just opened mine to try and fix stick drift and my faulty bumper and want to know if I need to get a higher percentage isopropyl alcohol
Watched this at work and knew I had the exact problem and is the reason I don’t use it anymore, anyways I get home rewatch how easy it is to open the front with the proper tools and then I used 70% rubbing alcohol to clean the bumper and it fixed it! Would totally recommend anyone with this issue to do this and who know it might just work for you too
Thanks bro, I was scared to use WD 40 after someone else mentioned it can melt plastic, so I used some Equate 91% Isopropyl Alcohol with a small brush and it seems to working perfectly now
IF THIS DOES NOT WORK: My bumper had an issue where it would only click if I pressed hard I cut out a small piece from the sticky part of a sticky note and attached it to the plastic part in the bumper. It adds a tiny bit of height so that gentle clicks still apply full force. Hope this helps!
Hey, I had the same problem and I had to use two small peices of it and so far it seems to be working way better! Not 100% perfect as expected but way better. I can't thank you enough, I'm gonna update you after a bit of playing
I used a tiny spray of lock lube and it works perfectly now rather than once every 3 or 4 presses… knowing this like 2 years ago could have saved me a lot of money
you just saved me 150+ dollars or however much these are.. thank you. and to everyone wondering how to get it open without these plastic things, i cut my zyn can into flush wedges for the top. and then for the sides i used a little wedge tool on a pocket knife, hope this helps.
This worked flawlessy for me. I tried turning the piece of plastic, using a qtip with isopropyl alcohol and using a cut up business card to replace the plastic that all had 50% better results. This WD-40 made it work 100%. I did use a qtip to clean any leftover reside.
@@lucasswan8463 I grabbed it and stuffed it in the right side and pry and when I hear the pop sound I put like a pencil in so it doesn't pop back in place and I do it all the way around
I used credit/debit/hotel room cards on the top to start the process and a thin flathead screwdriver for small parts to pry open the rest. There is some adhesive so it will take some effort on the first try taking it off. Be slow and sure not to pull any wires with the clips especially on the sides of the controller
another way you could do this is by pushing down the trigger then blowing into the gap between the bumper and the trigger to clear out any dust or debris on there this other method worked perfectly for me but for a longer fix, you can do this method because the method i explained usually works for around 2-3 days until you have to do it again
Lowkey worked perfect. Watched other videos with previous controllers saying to remove that plastic sleeve and replace with thicker paper, etc. Controller feels flawless now.
This is tricky but you could gamble and get one used with this problem with a 50$ discount and try to fix it. If the fix would not work, you only lose your time.

Dang I didn’t realize there were specially made items for taking off the controller face. The video I saw before this had me use a knife and now it’s art of my controller is scuffed.
Clp gun lube. Tiny drop actuated the button works fine now. If I was to guess there may have been a silicone lube and from a bazzillion clicks it wore off causing the sticking. Just a wild guess
I tried to use as little as possible in being careful pressing the button on the can of WD-40 and each time it came out way too much so I hope it doesn't mess it up
Thanks, I’m not sure what happened but mine just stopped clicking down all together. I haven’t even had a full year. It worked, I used vegetable oil on a q tip because I didn’t have wd40. It’s not perfect but it’s significantly better.
Cleaning didnt fix for me. But i did manage to fix it by just cutting off the clips that you see him unclip using the screw driver. Near middle of the vid. By removing the clips the bumpers are able to move fully and press the switch properly.
I tried to move the inner button closer to the LB/RB button, but after some time it is bending back and I did not manage to get stable results from it. Nice to here you find something that works for you)
Personally I just replaced the tactile switches. Microsoft used cheaper quality switches so replacing them is an actual fix more then a temporary solution, also it’s just much more reliable knowing my buttons will work and not double click in a few months.

The bumpers usually fail because of the tiny, weak little tab that goes into that slot for button. Engineered to fail. Dremel pocket where broken tab was, super glue a toothpick in place, make the length appropriate, and you now have stronger, more responsive bumpers. Dont waste your money on controllers
I would use isopropyl alcohol instead of wd40 because the wd40 might gum up in the future while isopropyl alcohol cleans the button. Same exact process just apply some with a q-tip the same way he has. I would use something 70% or above. 👍👍
