I've been watching your videos for the last week & love them a lot!! 😊 You have such a great colour palette & I'm learning sooo much as you describe so well. And I get really encouraged to try things myself 😁 And eventually, what I learnt today is that intuition is a super important part of your creating process. Especially nowadays when we often enough don't listen to ourselves as everything around us is so noisy. But I'm also sure that you can excercise your intuition 😉😊
Aah Kristin this is so wonderful to read, thank you so much! I'm so pleased you've found my videos helpful and encouraging too - that is my main aim! I totally agree, intuition is definitely such an important part of the process and I think that's the main way we develop our artistic 'style'. I do think it's something that we can exercise and it gets easier with the time the more we practice creating by listening to that inner voice! 🥰
Really enjoyed your second video in your mini series which is very well thought out and presented. Some interesting points you’ve succinctly highlighted have helped my mixed media practice. Your videos make mixed media accessible and most importantly exciting. Thank you for sharing.
I recently discovered your channel, and I’ve really enjoyed your videos! I wanted to comment that that particular abstract landscape with the magenta reminds me a LOT of what the landscape looks like up here in interior Alaska. If you really like that palette, I’d recommend looking up Alaskan summer landscapes with fireweed. Thank you for your hard work, and sharing your art with us!
Thank you so much for your support! And thank you so much for sharing this, Alaska sounds amazing looks so dreamy in the summer from what I've just googled! That pink!! I can definitely see that palette working perfectly for an Alaskan landscape 😍
Oh watched this last week but forgot to like it and comment!😳. This week’s and last week’s seemed like a lot of work on your part. Thanks for taking the time to go into so much detail, much appreciated!! Great job!❤
I loved this! Thank you so much all the wonderful information! Can you please tell me exactly what the indigo pencil is (brand, type, etc.) that you used? Thanks in advance! 🙂
Forgive for my ignorant question, Katie, but why do you put down a layer if you are going to cover it up completely? Like in your very first sample. Thank you!
No problem at all! Sometimes having a base layer of a different colour helps to add more richness to the colour on top, or more interest if it 'peeks' through! It can also add extra texture or warmth to the final piece depending on the colour! 🤗
You mentioned you only use about 4 pieces of extra paper to prevent transfer…how do you decide where to keep the paper/how long? I hateeee that all my pieces transfer but I also hate wasting pages and leaving them blank🙈
Ooh good question! It usually depends on the mediums I've used, so not very long if it's just pencil and some neocolor, or if it's very neocolor heavy I tend to keep the scrap paper between them for longer! If it's a spread that's completely filled with colour I tend to keep the paper there until I'm quite a few pages ahead when I know the pressure won't make anything transfer! 😊 Then I just cycle through the four pages with my recent spreads!
Hi Katie, is there a reason why there are no chapters in this video (and I think the previous one as well)? Because I really like them. In my case, I usually quit watching videos more often when there are no chapters, because I don't like the mystery of the unknown when it comes to videos. In the intro you name the topics but it's not the same. I can see it everywhere as a new thing to quit doing chapters because some TH-cam Gurus said that it's better for engagement (or something) to not have chapters. And now masses are following that tipp. Not saying that you are doing it because of that but I think chapters are a really nice service. Maybe I'm the only one who appreciates chapters, I don't know. It would be nice to have them back.
Hi Seta, thanks for your feedback! I was going to do chapters but because I cover so many topics and little tips etc throughout this mixed media series I found it hard to separate! I could do chapters for the main topics and questions I talk about, but I feel like it wouldn't encapsulate all the extra bits and tangents I mention and I don't want people to miss a section when it actually mentions so much more than that! Hope that makes sense ☺️ For my more organised & segmented videos I do use chapters, particularly for hauls, art material tests and vlogs 💜
@@KatieMoody Yes it does, I don't have many videos out yet, but I ran into a similar issue already. Glad that you are not stopping the chapters. Thanks for your explanation and answer!

Do you ever frame loose sketch styles like this?
Do you mean frame as in an actual picture frame or within a drawn panel? 😊
