  • Today on the breakdown we are having a look at how a channel defensive policy can defuse 4 on 3 platforms.
    Every time you see a link take an intercept while defending the line at rep level, usually this comes off the back of good channeling.
    Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!

    New to Touch - Just played in a touch game today and can picture exactly where I went wrong on my channel defense. I appreciate you and this video!

    Great video, thanks for this and all the other ones you're doing. My players love them and keep sending me follow-up questions about them! Given that you've done videos on pre- and post-touch, openside link channeling and openside link sniping, I reckon the next really helpful one could be shortside link lifting and pinching on MLs, Quickies and Sweeps. I hope that's a helpful suggestion :)

      Good idea, I touch on this in one of the game analysis videos and the 33 Peel (ML) vs splitter. Check that out and let me know your thoughts

    Thanks for another great video on touch defense! Do you recommend channel defense as your default line defense? If not, what are the preconditions for using channel defense?

      I would use a late shutdown as my default and when the team I am coaching is good with this I would start working with the links about getting high and in the way of the passing channel to the link.

    would love to see some training videos, do you think that would be something you’d ever consider filming?

      I might see if I can film some training footage. If it comes out good I’ll make some videos

    Morning from 🇸🇬
    Is there a video on the channel defence for the wing.
    Ive seen a match/hightlights of a Parramatta winger who had great reads from wing, i just cant find it again!
    Love ya work bro!

      There is no channel defence specific for wings. Just practice moving forward off the line in the gap between the attacking link and wing. They will just have to condition themselves to make good reads. A good channel defender means they can go a little bit wider. Sometimes when running a middle/middle out ball to a link, the winger will need to snipe this.

    Looks like the defensive link in the second clip doesn’t get both feet behind the line so is therefore offside? 2 mins 30 seconds onwards….
    same in the 3rd clip?

    • @touch.screen
      @touch.screen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically you are right, I wasn't really worrying about it for the point of the video. But getting onside is always good practice haha

      @@touch.screen yes i know what you mean but that extra step onside may mean the interceptions wouldn’t have happened…..lurking offside looking for intercepts is a dangerous game 🥴

    • @touch.screen
      @touch.screen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gnuttz1972 you can still get off the line in a channel with being onside. It just means your pre touch needs to improve.
