I remember when Frontiers was being advertised it was as if they were not fully sure If the game was gonna be good enough, to the point where several interviews never gave an idea as to how long the game was, or how much content was in the game, or how many islands there were. Several trailers for the game were like 30 seconds long and mostly showed areas and gameplay moments we had already seen and new shots were just split second shots of Sonic on island 1 and 2. This on the other hand is a full blown extravaganza of stages, powers, bosses, the open zone, & story beats. Its clear proof that when Sonic Team is confident in their efforts they will pull out all the bells and whistles to make sure everyone knows this ain't no Episode Shadow 3 levels and done shit. This is the real fucking deal.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Sega is having their own capcom redemption arc -Their big 3 Sonic, Yakuza and Persona keep getting more and more popular -They’re putting more resources and budget into sonic, yakuza and persona -Sonic Team is cooking hard with shadow gens and this is just the b team and they also got more hires and the sonic pillar for quality control, imagine what kishimoto could cook up for the next open zone game -Sonic has a whole trilogy of movies now and Shadow is getting a manga -Atlus is making a new ip with metaphor refantazio -Shin Megami Tensei is still going strong -RGG is also cooking with Super monkey ball as its on its third game now after being revived and banana rumble is doing well -Angry birds is getting a third movie and Rovio isn’t getting the Xbox buyout treatment where the thing immediately dies -Samba de amigo had a new game a while back They’re now reviving their older series with jet set radio, crazy taxi, golden axe and shinobi, and streets of rage is getting its second new game now after it was revived a while back
I hope the sonic team's a and b team merge again after this. I just want them to be able to make games without making compromises. Like, the team's getting bigger, budget's getting bigger, don't just split them to smaller chunks like it's 2000's again.
Based on the line that Tails said in Frontiers, probably the chaos island is in this game cause it's something like a military outpost for the Ancients, and if black doom wants to take advantage of strategic places, it makes sense trying to take control of the chaos island, I think.
Really hope one of the characters in the overworld is Amy. It's easy to forget her impact on Shadow's character development so it'd be nice to see that acknowledged in some way
Wouldn’t work with shadow gens happening at the same time as sonic gens but maybe we could see maria! Its possible considering the game is using time and I would love to see shadow interact with her one more time before having to say goodbye.

8:50 ya so here’s my thoughts on that… My theory (that I know the story will definitely not go hard enough for, but wtv lemme dream) is that Chaos Island is in the game to tie up the lore of the Ancients and their bringing the chaos emeralds to earth + the extinct Echidna Clans of Angel Island and their knowledge of chaos energy and the chaos/master emeralds + Professor Gerald researching all of that with the goal of finding the answer to finally make his Project Shadow a reality = That’s why Shadow is there. He’s on Chaos Island in the past, during the time Gerald was researching there.. Never gonna happen… but faaaaak so much juicy untold lore in dem lore gulfs 😭🙏🦔🖤
I mean to be fair, we could look at it in the Pre-Genesis Wave Approach. Ian had stated at that time that Pre-Genesis Archie Sonic's Generations experience with Rooftop Run, was simply him getting a taste of what was to come for Unleashed (since he nevered experienced Unleashed before) so he was simply getting a glimpse into the Future. So if Shadow is experiencing the Chaos Island of Frontiers he is getting a glimpse of what is to come for Sonic
The Doom Powers are such a beautiful blend between all of Shadow’s prior abilities, vehicles from 06, and even a unique version of the wisp gameplay. Also the perfect answer to substituting organic weapons instead of guns, this is just a masterpiece!

Every time a new trailer drops for this game, I get even more excited. The story implications of why Chaos Island and Sunset Heights are there definitely have me intrigued. The fact we know so little of the story makes it even more of a mystery. The gameplay though is looking good. I LOVE that the Doom Powers are going to add so much replay value to this game. Not only that, but it also seems like they all keep a good sense of speed which makes me so happy. I really do hope that aspect carries over to other character movesets in future 3D Sonic games. Now, this was something I was curious about and I wanted your thoughts on it. What do you think they will do for Metal Overlord's voice? If they allow him to speak again, he might get a new VA since they definitely aren't bringing back Ryan (Unless...). Some said Roger might do it which would make sense, or they might just have Metal roar like in Heroes.
This is truly SHADOW GENERATIONS. I legitimately lost my mind when I saw Chaos Island (the best Frontiers island) and Sunset Heights because I didn’t think they would do that. (also is interesting how they chose Frontiers since Shadow wasn’t there) The powers look SO FREAKING AWESOME, AND DUDE I BUSTED WHEN I SAW METAL OVERLORD WTF THIS IS GONNA BE PEAK FICTION TIMES 10 Seriously though, this feels like a dream come true. And as for the Sonic Movie 3 trailer and marketing… It is frustrating me ngl. Like what is this strategy? How do you release TOYS for your movie yet don’t release a trailer, an ACTUAL poster, or even more info on your movie that’s coming out in less than 4 months and is rivaling with the prequel of the most SUCCESSFUL ANIMATED FILM OF ALL TIME, a prequel film that already has its SECOND TRAILER out?? But yet they use their half baked advertisements from Sonic Movie 2, throw some toys and mascots in there like “look at these toys! Now go watch the movie that you know nothing about because we won’t show anything!” And it has gotten annoying. Especially since leakers are everywhere saying that “oh it will be in May!” Then July, then at that one special event, then at Gamescom, and now we’re all sitting here with egg on our faces. The trailer made me so much more excited simply due to the amount of content they showed. I say this time again but with this game they are really showing confidence, something that the 2010s Sonic wouldn’t ever had. They would’ve never had Shadow turn into a Doom Morph but here they said “fuck it lets go all in” and I’m so happy they did. The Doom Morph has to be my favorite power along with the Wings they look so cool and gameplay with them is gonna be fun I’m sure.
What I think is happening on Radical Highway is that it's a mission, like base gens we will probably have missions that use the existing levels as a base, so that would explain the multiple variations of Radical Highway's sky (sunset, day, night and distorted red, which is too many variations for the 2 act structure). My current crack theory is that they are doing new bite-sized levels (Cyberspace/Forces lenght) for the missions instead of just editing existing ones like base gens, so you have a bunch of small optional levels and the big act ones for the main progression.
I swear, one of the Chaos Island challenge missions is literally just gonna be a pinball minigame, as ✨fun✨ callback to everyone's favourite section of Sonic Frontiers.

Ngl I'm kinda hoping that one of the characters in the open zone will be the G.U.N Commander. We're being ushered into a new and bold era for the Sonic franchise, so the reintroduction of humans would be a perfect addition imo.

The End (lol) Yeah the fact that we have Sunset Heights and Chaos Island is absolutely wild. There's probably gonna be some super wacky lore bomb with the Black Aliens and The Ancients in this game. My guess is that Black Doom hates The End just as much as the Ancients and helped make the Titans. Their color schemes all prominently feature red and Black Doom is red. Grasping at straws a bit here. Infinite and Mephiles (and Sonic lol) could serve as rival fights. Mephiles maybe could be an actual cinematic boss, but I just really want to see my edgy boy Infinite again.
“The wings that come out of Shadow make you think of a devil.” That’s so raw that they’re saying it themselves. The first thing I thought of when I saw the wings was something like an Angel of Death. It makes me so happy that they wanted to unearth more of the dark and cool energy of Shadow!! Literally, it’s like he couldn’t get anymore peak and here we are. Shadow, as a character, has insane amounts of potential. Plus, like they said, he can do things that Sonic simply can’t do otherwise. I just love Shadow so much, and I’ve never been more excited for a new Sonic game in my life 😭 Frontiers was exciting but OH MY GOD this is insane. Shadow has always been special to me 🥹

"Doom Blast" has you teleport to the enemy after you kick them forward, which is part of why you're given the option to aim where they'll go. The enemy is basically used as a vertical and then horizontal stepping stone. Also, about Chaos Island. Aside from Sonic Team just wanting to bring over a level from the newest Sonic game, my working theory is Black Doom wants to conquer the Starfall Islands, and Chaos is the one with the most powerful weaponry (apparently equipped with weapons on par with the Eclipse Cannon), so he's probably sending Shadow there to see if he's capable of storming it for him.
After the trailer I was thinking about how the Doom powers could be incorporated into gameplay. I can think of 3 possible ways they could do it while not overcrowding the controller buttons. 1. Wispon approach: Different Doom Powers are unlocked throughout the story (with Chaos Control being the default unlocked from the jump), and can be swapped freely in the hub world as well as before a traditional level starts. Don’t think I need to say why this would kinda suck. 2. Wheel approach: Doom powers can be swapped on the fly with a weapon wheel like the Chaos Emerald powers in Superstars. They would share the same meter as Chaos Control, so theoretically you could prep a Doom Power and then instantly pop it to use later in the level. This would be pretty cool imo. 3. Incidental Approach: Perhaps the Doom Powers automatically become enabled at certain parts in the level. Like you pointed out, Shadow immediately transitions from his base form to the Doom Morph in the one Chaos Island level you brought up. It’s possible that once Shadow enters a certain area for some of these Doom powers, the swap is done for him. Think the Formation Gates from the start of Heroes. Potentially combine with the Wheel Approach. 4. Wisp Approach: Uhhhh yeah just make them function like wisps I guess LMAO I do want to know how you think they are gonna go about incorporating these new powers into the gameplay though, there’s a lot of ways I think they could do it.
Well considering that doom spears is one the powers, and chaos spear has a separate button and can be used whenever you want, i think wheel/wispon are the most likely ones
My boss fight hopes are Biolizard and Overlord, as we know Mephiles and Infinite as rivals Black Doom as the 3rd boss, and then Devil Doom or a new final form of Black Doom as a Super Shadow final boss. I'd like to see Knight from Frontiers too, but that's kinda reaching since the titans don't really matter to Shadow personally
The way this game handles its callback levels is weird. It doesn't really make these levels based on a specific game. Its like... basing it on that LOCATION, but then references multiple things in the same level. So we have Space Colony ARK based on SA2 and Shadow the Hedgehog. I suspect Radical Highway is the same way--it probably combines Radical Highway and Westopolis/Central City. (Notably, Radical Highway is actually set in Central City. The city isn't named until Shadow the Hedgehog, its just called "the capital city". Shadow the Hedgehog confirms its name is Central City.) So yeah, I think the Radical Highway stage will have multiple different forms, with different times of day. The night scenes we have seen as well as the red skies; the red skies specifically are based on Shadow the Hedgehog. I wouldn't be shocked if we see nods to Sky Rail in Bullet Station, either. Dusty Desert is a great pick for a desert level, but I don't think we're getting that here because we already have Kingdom Valley. I did compare the scene people thought was Dusty Desert and the pillars in Dusty Desert don't have those red rings.
Sonic fight is probably happening. Emerl? Its weird, I could see it happening, but when would it happen? Emerl only appeared in Sonic Battle and Sonic Advance 3, which were 2D sidescrolling games. They'd have to find a place to squeeze him in, perhaps in a game where they don't intend on having another boss fight. Perhaps with Chaos Island? We should just get a straight up Super Sonic boss fight.

6:46 im sorry but I can't be the only one who thinks this level looks like eternal highway (AKA the city level) from Sonic Frontiers? It has the same sort of architecture and design and even uses the same box assets as frontiers. I don't know could be wrong and it probably is just more footage of sunset heights
I feel like several of these levels are going to be short transitions, like how Radical Highway was for the Ark level. (I know it has extra levels; I’m just using that stretch of level to make a point.) However, the amount of levels showing up and the newer ones on display are very promising. No matter what, more content is more content.
I feel like the Boss Arena for Metal Overlord is supposed to be a submerged version of Final Egg, which is the last stage in Sonic Heroes, it's also where Neo Metal upgrades himself into Metal Madness/Metal Overlord
I wonder if the GUN Commander will be one of the "stand out and about" folks... a real Shadow vs Sonic Rival Battle would be sick, but I'm not gonna lie, it'd be cool to see them redo the Sonic & Diablon fight as an actual fight, with it going back and forth between the boss mech and some kind of actual cool fight with Sonic, or using the kick move to punt jumpball Sonic into Diablon, etc, as the Shadow boss rep(assuming we don't count Black Doom, who I bet is gonna get some Time Doom final boss thing instead)
The game have 5 zones soo far. We may get 6 zones, with Shadow 05 zone still to be revealed. Maybe Radical Highway will appear in other zones and also have its own special acts, making different from the other zones. For the characters, I think Shadow will save the characters who Sonic doesn't save in Sonic Generations, like Ômega, Big and the Babylon Rouges, and maybe Silver. For the Bosses, Mephiles and Infinite need to appear in this game.
The rival fight against Sonic should be Chaos Island Frontiers Sonic, tired out from the affects of fighting and Cyberspace corruption making him see Shadow as some sort of enemy to him.
It looks like you need to get certain doom powers in order to unlock areas in the open zone through traversal and the levels in those zones might focus on using those doom powers maybe
Honestly they’re spoiling us at this point. 10+ main stages (12 counting the inevitable Shadow 05 stages), 2+ bosses, a whole open hub world, challenge stages, new abilities, compelling lore. Plus a 3 part mini Anime!? I’m guessing the new Radical Highway footage is either from Space Colony Ark act 2 or Space Colony Ark challenge stages. It would be weird to have two full stages dedicated to 1 game, especially when one is already part of another. I wonder what the DLC stage is gonna be. It could possibly be based on Black Knight, with the included skin being Sir Lancelot.
I remember once saying that we were only getting 3 stages and 1 boss and that's it since they dropped the ball with Sonic Colors Ultimate... I'm so glad to be wrong here
I think the reason why we see chaos isalnd and forces level is because maybe doom messing with the time eater stuff cause he seems to be doing something in the story could have pulled a shadow from a future or future locations and the game taking place in white space which seems to be outside of normal time could explain how the events can happen at the same time and maybe the shadow in og gens is past shadow from around that time but the shadow gens one is from the future and the events happen in different points in white space at the same time so we never saw the shadow we see in this game in og gens, but hey thats just my theory oh and also doom taking chaos island might have something to do with the ancients and they're chaos emeralds if I remember correctly don't the black arms also need chaos emeralds for stuff?
My biggest hope for this game is that when you finish both campaigns that in normal gens you fight shadow with all the doom abilities like how in Mario and Luigi Bowsers inside story you can fight bowser at the end of the boss rush with all of his abilities
I loved the wisps in Sonic Colors. The levels themselves are what you'd expect from any good Sonic game, but the wisps add a layer of depth to gameplay. Since you unlock more wisps in other worlds as you play, many stages have multiple wisps. What makes it so great is that you have to chose what wisps to use and where to use them for the most optimal path. It's so much fun to finally find that route of Wisp usage you want, and then perfect the stage with that sweet sweet S rank. They're doing it again, but BETTER. They're learning the right lessons, and excelling in execution too. It's so much more fluid than the wisps, you can activate it on a whim, and it doesn't kill speed. I don't know WHAT made them lock in so damn hard, but what ever it is, thank you. 🙏
so at 10:36 with the doom morph power, you can see for like a frame before he transforms that shadow can travel along that purple terrain just fine himself- unless that's just an error. But if not, the doom morph likely is just to go along terrain like that much faster, and obviously would allow you to use those swinging points and go up purple walls to climb to different areas when regular shadow can't. maybe i'm looking too far into it but i think that would be a cool way of not making the doom morph specifically mandatory and allow the level to be played in completely different ways
the boss fight for Metal Overlord looks like it's happening in the Spaceport stage from Forces. It's a broken down Chemical Plant, likely where the Egg Fleet even came from in the first place too!
Whom else would make sense to be in front of the stage entrances, that weren't on Sonic's party, and, that may or may not have some relation with Shadow?
4:28 I think you're gonna need the "Doom Blast" to hit an enemy to get up there, we saw it in the trailer and how you can launch an enemy up. I feel like they're gonna make it so you can go through the levels but go back when you get new powers to explore more, which is really cool.
One thing that keeps coming to mind is what is that additional level gonna be that drops "holiday 2024"? Is it just gonna be another "Casino Night thing" like sonic gens or something much bigger?
About other characters, in Generation there some missions where the characters you just saved would either challenge of help you through a level, so it's inetresting to think what they could do with Omaga. Will Shadow save anyone else? Rouge was already saved by Sonic, but nothing prevents her from joining Shadow mid story. I think it's possible maybe he saves Silver in the Kingdom Valley section? Unless they make a point the 3 Hedgehogs are the only one not affected by the Time Eater (although they could make an exception for Silver.. because he is Silver) Also is the Metal Overlord we see the same Metal Classic Sonic thought in the base game? Or is it a different Modern Metal that is unrelated, giving Metal the same treatment Sonc Tails and Eggman has, having 2 versions of themselves. Also if they bring back fishing because it is a miniature Frontiers, I think it will be hilarious for Shadow to save Big the Cat from white space which would grant access to fishing. Also, if Shadow has access to the Future, will Sage be a save-able character? If my memory is correct, she was compared to Maria by Eggman, and is pretty much is Eggman's equivalent to Gerald's Maria, so interactions between Shadow and Sage would be interesting. Also obviously, Infinte, I don't have anything to say, just Infinite. Also last thing about other characters, considering Generations had rival characters for each chunk of levels, as well as Sonic having fought Shadow in the Ark in one of those fights, and if the story happens in parallel to Sonic, does that confirm that we will get the same Rival Fight with Sonic? This time in Shadow's perspective of course, fighting Sonic would be cool regardless but it also makes a perfect Adventure 2 Parallel. Speaking or rival characters, is the Metal Overlord really a Boss Fight? Or is he a Rival Fight of the Modern Metal Sonic, will Silver also get a Rival Fight with Shadow? Will they also use Emerl? I don't think too much about Emerl. And finally about Mephiles, conseidering they teased a 4th character, considering Sonic has his clone which is Classic Sonic, maybe Shadow too will have a "clone," and mephiles is that clone, but now that we see the Doom Powers, these would just fit Mephiles perfectly, with a Dark Blue-Violet ish goo that he is already. I can't think of a context though
This is gonna upstage Sonic's side of the game too much. I hope they surprise us with some edits to Sonic like a Frontiers' style game play for Sonic (like Shadow here) a few more levels like 1 Frontiers and one like Starlight Carnival. I'd love classic Sonic to get a Sonic Mania visuals Flying Battery level and a Sonic Advance and/or Rush level and skin
I like your idea about the Frontiers stages being the challenge levels that require the Doom Powers, it's almost as if Sonic Team STARTED development with those levels using existing Frontiers resources to get a feel on how the Doom Powers / Shadow's movement works, which then allowed them to really refine the main stages (with set-pieces and more elaborate platforming / pathways / new visual design)
Thats not really how games are made. Developers use graybox assets with numerical values on them and they certainly dont bake lightning in the test levels. That is the waste of time and money

7:56 maybe doom blast can create more teleportation markers? If you kick the enemy far away and can follow up with a homing attack, that'll be useful for traversal. Kind of like the homing dash in frontiers
I could see the story explanation for chaos island being here, is black doom trying to invade earth at multiple different points in time. So it doesn't need to specifically be locations shadow has been. The other characters really interest me because who will it be? I am wishful (but fully expected not to happen) is that maybe an idw character could appear, and I think shadow is the best way to introduce people to them. In the comics shadow has never had an actual interaction with the idw cast, which you could use as a way to introduce them to the people who haven't read the comics

I remember when Frontiers was being advertised it was as if they were not fully sure If the game was gonna be good enough, to the point where several interviews never gave an idea as to how long the game was, or how much content was in the game, or how many islands there were. Several trailers for the game were like 30 seconds long and mostly showed areas and gameplay moments we had already seen and new shots were just split second shots of Sonic on island 1 and 2.
This on the other hand is a full blown extravaganza of stages, powers, bosses, the open zone, & story beats. Its clear proof that when Sonic Team is confident in their efforts they will pull out all the bells and whistles to make sure everyone knows this ain't no Episode Shadow 3 levels and done shit. This is the real fucking deal.

Based on the line that Tails said in Frontiers, probably the chaos island is in this game cause it's something like a military outpost for the Ancients, and if black doom wants to take advantage of strategic places, it makes sense trying to take control of the chaos island, I think.

Every time a new trailer drops for this game, I get even more excited. The story implications of why Chaos Island and Sunset Heights are there definitely have me intrigued. The fact we know so little of the story makes it even more of a mystery. The gameplay though is looking good. I LOVE that the Doom Powers are going to add so much replay value to this game. Not only that, but it also seems like they all keep a good sense of speed which makes me so happy. I really do hope that aspect carries over to other character movesets in future 3D Sonic games. Now, this was something I was curious about and I wanted your thoughts on it. What do you think they will do for Metal Overlord's voice? If they allow him to speak again, he might get a new VA since they definitely aren't bringing back Ryan (Unless...). Some said Roger might do it which would make sense, or they might just have Metal roar like in Heroes.

It is frustrating me ngl. Like what is this strategy? How do you release TOYS for your movie yet don’t release a trailer, an ACTUAL poster, or even more info on your movie that’s coming out in less than 4 months and is rivaling with the prequel of the most SUCCESSFUL ANIMATED FILM OF ALL TIME, a prequel film that already has its SECOND TRAILER out??
But yet they use their half baked advertisements from Sonic Movie 2, throw some toys and mascots in there like “look at these toys! Now go watch the movie that you know nothing about because we won’t show anything!” And it has gotten annoying. Especially since leakers are everywhere saying that “oh it will be in May!” Then July, then at that one special event, then at Gamescom, and now we’re all sitting here with egg on our faces.
I don’t wanna rush anything, but I wish they didn’t completely leave us in the dark about the trailer. I’m still gonna try to wait, and I’m still gonna see the movie, but I don’t think this is the best marketing.

The trailer made me so much more excited simply due to the amount of content they showed. I say this time again but with this game they are really showing confidence, something that the 2010s Sonic wouldn’t ever had. They would’ve never had Shadow turn into a Doom Morph but here they said “fuck it lets go all in” and I’m so happy they did. The Doom Morph has to be my favorite power along with the Wings they look so cool and gameplay with them is gonna be fun I’m sure.
What I think is happening on Radical Highway is that it's a mission, like base gens we will probably have missions that use the existing levels as a base, so that would explain the multiple variations of Radical Highway's sky (sunset, day, night and distorted red, which is too many variations for the 2 act structure).
My current crack theory is that they are doing new bite-sized levels (Cyberspace/Forces lenght) for the missions instead of just editing existing ones like base gens, so you have a bunch of small optional levels and the big act ones for the main progression.

Yeah the fact that we have Sunset Heights and Chaos Island is absolutely wild. There's probably gonna be some super wacky lore bomb with the Black Aliens and The Ancients in this game. My guess is that Black Doom hates The End just as much as the Ancients and helped make the Titans. Their color schemes all prominently feature red and Black Doom is red. Grasping at straws a bit here.
Infinite and Mephiles (and Sonic lol) could serve as rival fights. Mephiles maybe could be an actual cinematic boss, but I just really want to see my edgy boy Infinite again.

"Doom Blast" has you teleport to the enemy after you kick them forward, which is part of why you're given the option to aim where they'll go. The enemy is basically used as a vertical and then horizontal stepping stone.
Also, about Chaos Island. Aside from Sonic Team just wanting to bring over a level from the newest Sonic game, my working theory is Black Doom wants to conquer the Starfall Islands, and Chaos is the one with the most powerful weaponry (apparently equipped with weapons on par with the Eclipse Cannon), so he's probably sending Shadow there to see if he's capable of storming it for him.

After the trailer I was thinking about how the Doom powers could be incorporated into gameplay. I can think of 3 possible ways they could do it while not overcrowding the controller buttons.
1. Wispon approach: Different Doom Powers are unlocked throughout the story (with Chaos Control being the default unlocked from the jump), and can be swapped freely in the hub world as well as before a traditional level starts. Don’t think I need to say why this would kinda suck.
2. Wheel approach: Doom powers can be swapped on the fly with a weapon wheel like the Chaos Emerald powers in Superstars. They would share the same meter as Chaos Control, so theoretically you could prep a Doom Power and then instantly pop it to use later in the level. This would be pretty cool imo.
3. Incidental Approach: Perhaps the Doom Powers automatically become enabled at certain parts in the level. Like you pointed out, Shadow immediately transitions from his base form to the Doom Morph in the one Chaos Island level you brought up. It’s possible that once Shadow enters a certain area for some of these Doom powers, the swap is done for him. Think the Formation Gates from the start of Heroes. Potentially combine with the Wheel Approach.
4. Wisp Approach: Uhhhh yeah just make them function like wisps I guess LMAO
I do want to know how you think they are gonna go about incorporating these new powers into the gameplay though, there’s a lot of ways I think they could do it.

Black Doom as the 3rd boss, and then Devil Doom or a new final form of Black Doom as a Super Shadow final boss. I'd like to see Knight from Frontiers too, but that's kinda reaching since the titans don't really matter to Shadow personally
The way this game handles its callback levels is weird. It doesn't really make these levels based on a specific game. Its like... basing it on that LOCATION, but then references multiple things in the same level. So we have Space Colony ARK based on SA2 and Shadow the Hedgehog. I suspect Radical Highway is the same way--it probably combines Radical Highway and Westopolis/Central City. (Notably, Radical Highway is actually set in Central City. The city isn't named until Shadow the Hedgehog, its just called "the capital city". Shadow the Hedgehog confirms its name is Central City.)
So yeah, I think the Radical Highway stage will have multiple different forms, with different times of day. The night scenes we have seen as well as the red skies; the red skies specifically are based on Shadow the Hedgehog.
I wouldn't be shocked if we see nods to Sky Rail in Bullet Station, either.
Dusty Desert is a great pick for a desert level, but I don't think we're getting that here because we already have Kingdom Valley. I did compare the scene people thought was Dusty Desert and the pillars in Dusty Desert don't have those red rings.
Sonic fight is probably happening. Emerl? Its weird, I could see it happening, but when would it happen? Emerl only appeared in Sonic Battle and Sonic Advance 3, which were 2D sidescrolling games. They'd have to find a place to squeeze him in, perhaps in a game where they don't intend on having another boss fight. Perhaps with Chaos Island?

I feel like several of these levels are going to be short transitions, like how Radical Highway was for the Ark level. (I know it has extra levels; I’m just using that stretch of level to make a point.) However, the amount of levels showing up and the newer ones on display are very promising. No matter what, more content is more content.

The game have 5 zones soo far. We may get 6 zones, with Shadow 05 zone still to be revealed. Maybe Radical Highway will appear in other zones and also have its own special acts, making different from the other zones. For the characters, I think Shadow will save the characters who Sonic doesn't save in Sonic Generations, like Ômega, Big and the Babylon Rouges, and maybe Silver. For the Bosses, Mephiles and Infinite need to appear in this game.

I’m guessing the new Radical Highway footage is either from Space Colony Ark act 2 or Space Colony Ark challenge stages. It would be weird to have two full stages dedicated to 1 game, especially when one is already part of another.

I think the reason why we see chaos isalnd and forces level is because maybe doom messing with the time eater stuff cause he seems to be doing something in the story could have pulled a shadow from a future or future locations and the game taking place in white space which seems to be outside of normal time could explain how the events can happen at the same time and maybe the shadow in og gens is past shadow from around that time but the shadow gens one is from the future and the events happen in different points in white space at the same time so we never saw the shadow we see in this game in og gens, but hey thats just my theory oh and also doom taking chaos island might have something to do with the ancients and they're chaos emeralds if I remember correctly don't the black arms also need chaos emeralds for stuff?

My biggest hope for this game is that when you finish both campaigns that in normal gens you fight shadow with all the doom abilities like how in Mario and Luigi Bowsers inside story you can fight bowser at the end of the boss rush with all of his abilities

I loved the wisps in Sonic Colors. The levels themselves are what you'd expect from any good Sonic game, but the wisps add a layer of depth to gameplay. Since you unlock more wisps in other worlds as you play, many stages have multiple wisps. What makes it so great is that you have to chose what wisps to use and where to use them for the most optimal path. It's so much fun to finally find that route of Wisp usage you want, and then perfect the stage with that sweet sweet S rank.
They're doing it again, but BETTER. They're learning the right lessons, and excelling in execution too. It's so much more fluid than the wisps, you can activate it on a whim, and it doesn't kill speed. I don't know WHAT made them lock in so damn hard, but what ever it is, thank you. 🙏

so at 10:36 with the doom morph power, you can see for like a frame before he transforms that shadow can travel along that purple terrain just fine himself- unless that's just an error. But if not, the doom morph likely is just to go along terrain like that much faster, and obviously would allow you to use those swinging points and go up purple walls to climb to different areas when regular shadow can't.
maybe i'm looking too far into it but i think that would be a cool way of not making the doom morph specifically mandatory and allow the level to be played in completely different ways

the boss fight for Metal Overlord looks like it's happening in the Spaceport stage from Forces. It's a broken down Chemical Plant, likely where the Egg Fleet even came from in the first place too!
Whom else would make sense to be in front of the stage entrances, that weren't on Sonic's party, and, that may or may not have some relation with Shadow?

About other characters, in Generation there some missions where the characters you just saved would either challenge of help you through a level, so it's inetresting to think what they could do with Omaga. Will Shadow save anyone else?
Rouge was already saved by Sonic, but nothing prevents her from joining Shadow mid story.
I think it's possible maybe he saves Silver in the Kingdom Valley section? Unless they make a point the 3 Hedgehogs are the only one not affected by the Time Eater (although they could make an exception for Silver.. because he is Silver)
Also is the Metal Overlord we see the same Metal Classic Sonic thought in the base game? Or is it a different Modern Metal that is unrelated, giving Metal the same treatment Sonc Tails and Eggman has, having 2 versions of themselves.
Also if they bring back fishing because it is a miniature Frontiers, I think it will be hilarious for Shadow to save Big the Cat from white space which would grant access to fishing.
Also, if Shadow has access to the Future, will Sage be a save-able character? If my memory is correct, she was compared to Maria by Eggman, and is pretty much is Eggman's equivalent to Gerald's Maria, so interactions between Shadow and Sage would be interesting.

Also last thing about other characters, considering Generations had rival characters for each chunk of levels, as well as Sonic having fought Shadow in the Ark in one of those fights, and if the story happens in parallel to Sonic, does that confirm that we will get the same Rival Fight with Sonic? This time in Shadow's perspective of course, fighting Sonic would be cool regardless but it also makes a perfect Adventure 2 Parallel.
Speaking or rival characters, is the Metal Overlord really a Boss Fight? Or is he a Rival Fight of the Modern Metal Sonic, will Silver also get a Rival Fight with Shadow?
Will they also use Emerl? I don't think too much about Emerl.
And finally about Mephiles, conseidering they teased a 4th character, considering Sonic has his clone which is Classic Sonic, maybe Shadow too will have a "clone," and mephiles is that clone, but now that we see the Doom Powers, these would just fit Mephiles perfectly, with a Dark Blue-Violet ish goo that he is already. I can't think of a context though
This is gonna upstage Sonic's side of the game too much. I hope they surprise us with some edits to Sonic like a Frontiers' style game play for Sonic (like Shadow here) a few more levels like 1 Frontiers and one like Starlight Carnival. I'd love classic Sonic to get a Sonic Mania visuals Flying Battery level and a Sonic Advance and/or Rush level and skin

I like your idea about the Frontiers stages being the challenge levels that require the Doom Powers, it's almost as if Sonic Team STARTED development with those levels using existing Frontiers resources to get a feel on how the Doom Powers / Shadow's movement works, which then allowed them to really refine the main stages (with set-pieces and more elaborate platforming / pathways / new visual design)
Thats not really how games are made. Developers use graybox assets with numerical values on them and they certainly dont bake lightning in the test levels. That is the waste of time and money

just a theory but maybe after sonic frees her, she manages to to get into shadow's white space, which would lead her being frozen again

7:56 maybe doom blast can create more teleportation markers? If you kick the enemy far away and can follow up with a homing attack, that'll be useful for traversal. Kind of like the homing dash in frontiers

I could see the story explanation for chaos island being here, is black doom trying to invade earth at multiple different points in time. So it doesn't need to specifically be locations shadow has been.
The other characters really interest me because who will it be? I am wishful (but fully expected not to happen) is that maybe an idw character could appear, and I think shadow is the best way to introduce people to them. In the comics shadow has never had an actual interaction with the idw cast, which you could use as a way to introduce them to the people who haven't read the comics
