Motorcycle Ride Through Switzerland Into Italy - Grimsel and Nufenen Pass in Autumn! PT1

- Motorcycle couple Sean and Emily begin their adventure ride in Basel and head to central Switzerland, staying at a hotel next to the Susten pass and the Grimsel pass they set off early in search of Europe’s best motorcycle roads.
In this moto vlog we take you for a ride on our BMW R 1200 GSA around Switzerland in the autumn. Fall in Switzerland is beautiful and especially so in Graubunden. Join us as we take a road trip through the Grimsel Pass and onto the lesser known epic road the Nufenen Pass.
We take the best route to Lake Como including a hidden gem of Italy - the Balcony of Italy. After soaking in the views of the Swiss alps we head towards Lake Como and enjoy some Italian coffee on the water front before heading North towards the Maloja pass.

Thanks! The old R1200 can still keep up with the best of them =) ...but the power difference on the R1250 is incredible.

great video (as all the others)!! Beginning of this year, I was commuting to work with similar weather (freezing cold, but dry) which I thought shouldn't be a problem. I however hit a small part of ice (underneath a bridge) and made a slider with my BMW 1200 GSA with the result of a huge cost to repair it. Luckily the bike was and is well insured. Meanwhile my GSA is still under repair and in the mantime I decided to get myself also the K1600 GTL, which I also recognized in one of your TH-cam films. I absolutely love your content!! Motorcycles, travelling and last but not least food!! Keep up the good work, it's always a joy to watch your videos. Not only inspirational, but also very informative. thank you and ride safe!! Stunning scenery and as always, beautifully filmed and edited. The one bike I really regret selling, was my 30 year anniversary GSA. So much more character than my 1250 GSA. 👍

In Switzerland there are no toll roads, if you want to use the motorway it’s chf40 per year. All the mountain passes are free of charge and are spectacular 😎

Central Switzerland is awesome and the riding season lasts forever this year. Susten has a really nice road with broad curves, Grimsel and Furka have the best views. Gottardo is boring IMHO, but Bernardino is a super nice climb, with lots of very tight hairpin curves.

Yes this year we have had a very long season and it's been so very mild. The Susten is a fantastic road too -it's difficult to choose a favorite. We road the Bernardino this year with the R18 which was actually a lot of fun for such a big bike.

Autumn in the Alps!!? Quite daring, I'd say. High risk of snow. I trust you checked the weather forecasts before heading out? Still, the mountains in your video are completely absent of snow. Looks quite dry. Well, one nice thing about a late season trip...no traffic! Wonderful trip and video.
Yeah usually they are closed by then -however the last couple of weeks of Autumn this year were unusually hot with no chance of snow or low temperatures - also the webcams are great for double checking conditions. It really was great having the passes all to ourselves! Cheers mate 😎👍🏻
Did you change your bike from the 1250?
Hi Ronnie, the R 1250 GSA from the Heading East Tour was loaned to us for the trip. The R 1200 GSA is our personal bike that has been with us for the last 8 years.
