    I'm autistic so longform videos really scratch my itch for wanting more details. Feel free to keep making more long form. I really love your rambling laid back style as it feels alot more approachable to me.

    Jon, you have some of the best organic commentary while you paint. There are times where I think you've ran of ideas or comments to discuss, but you still manage to squeeze out more insightful comments about what went on in your head while painting, it is practically intoxicating. Love this video and your content.

    To answer your question about video length:
    I was thinking about switching over to another video at about the 18 minute mark. But I am also cleaning mold lines. I kind of prefer the 20-30 minute videos that talk about the hobby more than teaching something like painting. I guess it depends on what we are doing when we click on it

    • @MiniatureHobbyist
      @MiniatureHobbyist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers for the feed back, Im always saying I prefer to watch 8-15 minute videos which is why mine are typically that long but I guess as I did a little kitbashing and making the base this just went on a bit longer lol 🙂

    Hey man I just subscribed to your channel and I just wanted to say your painting looks amazing and your making me eager to pick up the brush. I'm a 20 year old that just broke his back so I'm on a long road of recovery, I passed out and fell ten feet of a deck and ya broke my back so your painting videos have been a great way to kinda forget the pain and to just injoy the hobby I'm in keep up the great painting.

  • @TheMichaellathrop

    I really liked to look of the brass right when you did your first few swipes of the dry brush after the dirty down. Now I'm curious what the DD verdigris would look like over just the drybrushed greyscale.

  • @dougpridgen9682
    @dougpridgen9682 ปีที่แล้ว

    I, like you, initially hated the idea of painting miniatures. I play D&D, so I was buying WizKids pre-painted minis so I wouldn't have to paint. Unfortunately they are painted assembly line style in some foreign country (probably China), and therefore look as if they were painted by a six year old. Base coat, outside the lines, flat, terrible is how I would describe them. So I got 3D printers (didn't like the sculpts either), some hobby supplies, and started my painting journey. I love it too. Lets spread the joy! :)
    Your painting skills are improving rapidly.

    I’m definitely going to have to give this technique a try when I have a model with more detail. I’m still worried how it would look on all the flat panels of the space marines as I have some bad experiences with contrast paint on them

    Excellent work mate, wasn’t a fan of long videos and waffle but I have to say this one was great!
    As it developed I got a ‘Davey Jones’ feel from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. When you put the barnacles on I was hoping for coral and seaweed.
    Bravo mate!
    More of the same!
    Plus, have you finished the blood bowl stuff?

    If you want to level up your chop quality, give the model a zenithal with an airbrush using white ink instead of drybrushing - aka inkchop. The white to black gradients will be super smooth and painting over will look even better.

    • @MiniatureHobbyist
      @MiniatureHobbyist  ปีที่แล้ว +1
