@@diezelle57 Thanks for fueling my multitool addiction! I ordered a Ratnik from Russia two weeks ago, should arrive here in one or two weeks. I have researched a bit, it seems the closest equivalent in designated function is the Gerber MP 600 DET; in terms of construction, it would be a Victorinox Rangergrip with pliers (Boatsman, 74, 174) with a long saw, sewing awl and Philipps (e.g. Rangergrip 58, 78) plus the metal saw from an 111 mm (e.g. Locksmith). That sort of makes the weight seem quite a bit more reasonable, since I’d expect a Victorinox Rangergrip with all these tools to weigh around 300g as well. Of course, the design approach and idea is somewhat different, the Ratnik seems to be designed to be as fail-proof and massive as possible, while Victorinox tends to maximize cutting performance (especially with saws) and weight. Just in case you feel like doing more side-by-side comparisons after this seemingly quite popular video, I would be interested to see how the various tools compare, especially since I have none of the other multitools mentioned (yet! ;)
@@johnflais3776 The Ratnik is a specialized military multifunction knife (special pliers) and cannot be compared to a Rangergrip from Victorinox. I invite you to read his manual (see on this comment page via a link provided by a contributor). But the idea of comparing it ... I have the two EOD models from Leatherman (MUT / ST 300) ... I will look into your proposal! :)

The Dewalt 20v is just as light as the competitor's 12v. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance and battery life of this tool. As far as oscillators go, they just aren't very ergonomic tools. The dewalt oscillators have an offset handle that do make them somewhat more ergonomic than the competitors' oscillators.
Owieczkin this is a concrete sapper knife, with crimping detonator capsules and biting stretch marks, what is considered an opener =) this is pulling checks from explosive devices

I just got one. My blade liner lock would not click over either. I took the philips screw out, took the blade out and sanded the back of it just a little. Now the liner lock locks all the way. I think its a really cool tool. I like it because it's different and its made for the Russian army Ratnik program, its like owning a peice of history and its a multitool!:) Thanks for the great vid.

the awl is pulled out by pressing the safety pin of the pliers that holds the handle of the pliers and inward... just press the safety pin inward and the awl will pop out... the Phillips screwdriver will then pop out by stretching the plier handle to the maximum
Have to say, for a basic folding knife look to it. I really like the design of the plier function. I wish the pliers looked and worked differently. But i really like the design.
The tool with saws must open zink-coated military boxes with gun cartridges or grenades,to open conserved food(any metal jars);you must penetrate the sharp end under the surface of jar and rotate it up.(excuse my bad english).

This multitool is so cool!!! It's a heavy duty system, and I really love using it for outdoor woodwork such as building wooden playgrounds for my children in the garden, building a shed, etc. In that department, it provides much better service than any Leatherman.

Looking forward to buy It. You can Simply use paracord's loop supplied to extract some of the tools by engaging their tips and pull them out ( hands wearing thick gloves or naked would make nail extraction unsuitable ). I like It if It Is tough as seems

You took over an hour to show how that tool looks when it could have been done in 15 minutes or less. That tool don't look bad and the quality don't look bad either, but the Russians are know for having functional tools with less time spent on appearance.

Amazing of rusticity, this Ratnik 6E6: - no flat screwdriver or bit adapter, - marking of the rule subject to fast erasure, - a kind of ... thin hammer (?) opposite the pliers, - a can opener at the end of the saw blade, - a nice sheath but does not allow to store a mini torch for example. But it's tough! Sold without box, without notice, heavily greased ... By straightening somewhat a steel plate (!!!), the knife opens and locks now correctly, I'm happy. The ways to extract the Phillips screwdriver and the awl, by uprisings, are clever. The diamond sharpener, accessories apart housed in the small side pocket of the sheath, is nice. The knife blade is very impressive (2.42 * 17 * 105 mm/ 2.36 * 19 * 77.7 mm for the Leatherman Surge). I didn't notice any assembly play. My advice to the manufacturer: - replace the cross-head screwdriver with a square, - provide a bit kit with the adapter that fits on the said square, - put a second side pocket on the sheath to accommodate a mini torch and size it to accommodate a said bit kit, - move the numbers of the ruler over it along the length of the metal saw, - do not grease the multi-tool, simply put oil on the surfaces subjected to friction and pack it in a sealed plastic bag (I understood that it could be stored for a very long time in a very humid atmosphere), - attention to quality control !

Actually I expected the wax paper and grease inside. Pliers handle latch should be stronger Otherwise looks as a strong tool as it should be. No need for bit holder, just ad flathead screwdriver

A breif synopsis: Its a Russian made multi-tool, like a leatherman... The pliers are awesome, The saw is double awesome, The blade hardly locks, You will need another multi-tool to open the /awl/sewing punch, and the Phillips head(sorry-no flathead)... You will cut yourself multiple times after owning it for only 5 minutes ( Be sure to order the Russian First Aid Kit too😂), It comes covered in a really sticky Chernobyl Sauce... And I like it, but I'm more interested in the Color Changing Keyboard... That needs its own video😂 And no voice -recognition software will EVER help find this dudes jungle hut...(Borneo) - Peace🎩

I’ve seen these before, and they are rugged. But they are utilitarian and not elegant. It’s a military tool and not seemingly meant to win any awards for fit and finish. The pliers are rough and made for specific uses, and not general uses like Leathermans and Gerbers etc. for the weight and size, I think we are better served with what we already have and I’ve seen Russians who are very impressed with the Leatherman Surge
I have to admit that this is best test of any multi function tool. All other videos just mentioned the various functions of a particular tool, and why the presenter either hates or loves it. The video may be a bit long, however, you were putting this military grade tool to the test. Shame about not getting the wire cleanly cut. Any other tool will have the same issue. A1.
По моему скромному мнению изделие очень хорошее. Не надо забывать, что это предназначено для солдат которые служат и воюют. Следовательно мультитул должен быть максимально простым в использовании и дешёвым в производстве. Внешний вид в этом случае отходит на задний план. Эта штука справится со всеми задачами, для которых она предназначена. Если где то не много люытит или туго ходит, то это не проблема. Стоимость в России около 45 долларов. Это очень дёшево. Соотношение цены и качества на высоте. Сравнивать этот мультитул с leatherman или victorinox не получится. Конечно в плане функционала и качества для гражданского назначения victorinox и leatherman выигрывают. Но если вам нужна достаточно надёжная вещь и при том не дорогая (не жалко сломать или потерять) то брать стоит Ратник.

@@mrfreedom4677 как то смотрел обзоры на мультитулы армии США от gerber. Основная мысль была о том, что это расходник. Сломался и на выброс. Я стсронник такого мнения. Дёшево, просто и без пафоса. В том обзоре блогер показал 2 мультитул, которые он нашёл после учений. Солдаты их просто выкинули. Так и с этим. Имхо. Может и сам видосы запилю когда домой вернусь. Через инет много накупил тулов. Тоже хочу свое мнение высказать)

Судя по цене на вторичке он ни разу не дешевый, и судя по тому как проблемно им пользоваться, он ни разу не "простой". О какой низкой цене идет речь, когда новый викс можно взять за 6500р (83$ по курсу на сегодняшний день). Викс свою надежность доказал годами суровых испытаний, пожизненную гарантию предоставляют. Ратник доказал что наши не хотят делать нормально (хотя очевидно что могут делать неплохо), пилить деньги проще и удобнее.

"a can opener at the end of the saw blade" It is ammo crate opener, yes you can use it for cans but mostly food cans in new Russian military field ration made of thin tin so you can easily open it by knife.
An effective and functional multitool, I particularly like the ruler addition to the saw but, but this one needs some refurbishing and maintenance, my guess it was dropped in something some or another of a liquid, motor oil or the likes, something greasy that dried up or sand/mud, blade springs need to be cleaned in a liquid solvent bath then left to dry, oiled, sharpen the blades and its good to go, also might want to wash the sheath just in case something stuck there

This video has taught me one thing about the Ratnik 6E6... Don't bother with it. The finish of the tool is rough. And yes, it matters, especially on liner lock blades. The part tolerances are horrible. The liner locks on the blades were truly sad. When you have to use parts from another multi-tool to make this one work, that tells me it's crap. But the Leatherman tool you were taking parts from seems to be pretty decent. The video itself wasn't too bad, but it's too long. Thanks for sharing it.

@@diezelle57 Thanks for fueling my multitool addiction! I ordered a Ratnik from Russia two weeks ago, should arrive here in one or two weeks. I have researched a bit, it seems the closest equivalent in designated function is the Gerber MP 600 DET; in terms of construction, it would be a Victorinox Rangergrip with pliers (Boatsman, 74, 174) with a long saw, sewing awl and Philipps (e.g. Rangergrip 58, 78) plus the metal saw from an 111 mm (e.g. Locksmith). That sort of makes the weight seem quite a bit more reasonable, since I’d expect a Victorinox Rangergrip with all these tools to weigh around 300g as well. Of course, the design approach and idea is somewhat different, the Ratnik seems to be designed to be as fail-proof and massive as possible, while Victorinox tends to maximize cutting performance (especially with saws) and weight. Just in case you feel like doing more side-by-side comparisons after this seemingly quite popular video, I would be interested to see how the various tools compare, especially since I have none of the other multitools mentioned (yet! ;)
@@johnflais3776 The Ratnik is a specialized military multifunction knife (special pliers) and cannot be compared to a Rangergrip from Victorinox. I invite you to read his manual (see on this comment page via a link provided by a contributor). But the idea of comparing it ... I have the two EOD models from Leatherman (MUT / ST 300) ... The Dewalt 20v is just as light as the competitor's 12v. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance and battery life of this tool. As far as oscillators go, they just aren't very ergonomic tools. The dewalt oscillators have an offset handle that do make them somewhat more ergonomic than the competitors' oscillators.

I just got one. My blade liner lock would not click over either. I took the philips screw out, took the blade out and sanded the back of it just a little. Now the liner lock locks all the way. I think its a really cool tool. I like it because it's different and its made for the Russian army Ratnik program, its like owning a peice of history and its a multitool!:) Thanks for the great vid.

the awl is pulled out by pressing the safety pin of the pliers that holds the handle of the pliers and inward... just press the safety pin inward and the awl will pop out... the Phillips screwdriver will then pop out by stretching the plier handle to the maximum
Have to say, for a basic folding knife look to it. I really like the design of the plier function. I wish the pliers looked and worked differently. But i really like the design.

The tool with saws must open zink-coated military boxes with gun cartridges or grenades,to open conserved food(any metal jars);you must penetrate the sharp end under the surface of jar and rotate it up.(excuse my bad english).
these days the can opener is not needed almost all cans have the little tab like coke cans so they open without any other device needed anyway

This multitool is so cool!!! It's a heavy duty system, and I really love using it for outdoor woodwork such as building wooden playgrounds for my children in the garden, building a shed, etc. In that department, it provides much better service than any Leatherman.

You took over an hour to show how that tool looks when it could have been done in 15 minutes or less. That tool don't look bad and the quality don't look bad either, but the Russians are know for having functional tools with less time spent on appearance.

Amazing of rusticity, this Ratnik 6E6:
- no flat screwdriver or bit adapter,
- marking of the rule subject to fast erasure,
- a kind of ... thin hammer (?) opposite the pliers,
- a can opener at the end of the saw blade,
- a nice sheath but does not allow to store a mini torch for example.
But it's tough!
Sold without box, without notice, heavily greased ...
By straightening somewhat a steel plate (!!!), the knife opens and locks now correctly, I'm happy.
The ways to extract the Phillips screwdriver and the awl, by uprisings, are clever.
The diamond sharpener, accessories apart housed in the small side pocket of the sheath, is nice.
The knife blade is very impressive (2.42 * 17 * 105 mm/ 2.36 * 19 * 77.7 mm for the Leatherman Surge).
I didn't notice any assembly play.
My advice to the manufacturer:
- replace the cross-head screwdriver with a square,
- provide a bit kit with the adapter that fits on the said square,
- put a second side pocket on the sheath to accommodate a mini torch and size it to accommodate a said bit kit,
- move the numbers of the ruler over it along the length of the metal saw,
- do not grease the multi-tool, simply put oil on the surfaces subjected to friction and pack it in a sealed plastic bag (I understood that it could be stored for a very long time in a very humid atmosphere),
- attention to quality control !

You will need another multi-tool to open the /awl/sewing punch, and the Phillips head(sorry-no flathead)...

I’ve seen these before, and they are rugged. But they are utilitarian and not elegant. It’s a military tool and not seemingly meant to win any awards for fit and finish. The pliers are rough and made for specific uses, and not general uses like Leathermans and Gerbers etc. for the weight and size, I think we are better served with what we already have and I’ve seen Russians who are very impressed with the Leatherman Surge

I have to admit that this is best test of any multi function tool. All other videos just mentioned the various functions of a particular tool, and why the presenter either hates or loves it. The video may be a bit long, however, you were putting this military grade tool to the test. Shame about not getting the wire cleanly cut. Any other tool will have the same issue. A1.

По моему скромному мнению изделие очень хорошее. Не надо забывать, что это предназначено для солдат которые служат и воюют. Следовательно мультитул должен быть максимально простым в использовании и дешёвым в производстве. Внешний вид в этом случае отходит на задний план. Эта штука справится со всеми задачами, для которых она предназначена. Если где то не много люытит или туго ходит, то это не проблема. Стоимость в России около 45 долларов. Это очень дёшево. Соотношение цены и качества на высоте. Сравнивать этот мультитул с leatherman или victorinox не получится. Конечно в плане функционала и качества для гражданского назначения victorinox и leatherman выигрывают. Но если вам нужна достаточно надёжная вещь и при том не дорогая (не жалко сломать или потерять) то брать стоит Ратник.
Он сделан как будето из говно силумина, у меня на не сильно боковой нагрузке лопнуи плоскогубцы ) Для вещи такого типа, это недопустимо

@@mrfreedom4677 как то смотрел обзоры на мультитулы армии США от gerber. Основная мысль была о том, что это расходник. Сломался и на выброс. Я стсронник такого мнения. Дёшево, просто и без пафоса. В том обзоре блогер показал 2 мультитул, которые он нашёл после учений. Солдаты их просто выкинули. Так и с этим. Имхо. Может и сам видосы запилю когда домой вернусь. Через инет много накупил тулов. Тоже хочу свое мнение высказать)
"Следовательно мультитул должен быть максимально простым в использовании и дешёвым в производстве." - сразу 2 "нет". Судя по цене на вторичке он ни разу не дешевый, и судя по тому как проблемно им пользоваться, он ни разу не "простой".
О какой низкой цене идет речь, когда новый викс можно взять за 6500р (83$ по курсу на сегодняшний день). Викс свою надежность доказал годами суровых испытаний, пожизненную гарантию предоставляют. Ратник доказал что наши не хотят делать нормально (хотя очевидно что могут делать неплохо), пилить деньги проще и удобнее.
Спасибо за обзор, теперь понятно, что брать "ратник" нельзя.

@@drupa733 это кусок тяжёлого говна, нормальный сапёр возьмёт Лезерман мут или на худой конец ещё какой Лезерман. А это говно бесполезное полностью на 360 градусов даже в руки брать не хочется. Насколько же надо ненавидеть русского солдата, чтобы такую херню сделать для него. Видно принцип, солдат должен за...баться всегда и везде даже в мультитуле соблюдается, реально можно за...ться только пытаясь его открыть и носия в кармане.

Looks like task specific tools. Pliers don’t have wire cutters but I guess that’s what the AK bayonet is for since the bayonet itself and its scabbard are designed to be wire cutters
On the contrary, there is even two different sizes of wire cutters that look fairly capable - see around the 27 minute mark.

Thanks for the video. I actually ordered one after seeing this and doing some more research. Looks like it might fill a certain niche for me for an extra beefy multitool. I'm curious to see how it will feel in the hand, and if I can actually sharpen the blade for more than pry-bar use :D

This tool and any tool have better chance cutting steel rope with rope runs in parallel with axis of the hinge of tool.

It is ammo crate opener, yes you can use it for cans but mostly food cans in new Russian military field ration made of thin tin so you can easily open it by knife.

An effective and functional multitool, I particularly like the ruler addition to the saw but, but this one needs some refurbishing and maintenance, my guess it was dropped in something some or another of a liquid, motor oil or the likes, something greasy that dried up or sand/mud, blade springs need to be cleaned in a liquid solvent bath then left to dry, oiled, sharpen the blades and its good to go, also might want to wash the sheath just in case something stuck there

This video has taught me one thing about the Ratnik 6E6... Don't bother with it. The finish of the tool is rough. And yes, it matters, especially on liner lock blades. The part tolerances are horrible. The liner locks on the blades were truly sad. When you have to use parts from another multi-tool to make this one work, that tells me it's crap. But the Leatherman tool you were taking parts from seems to be pretty decent. The video itself wasn't too bad, but it's too long. Thanks for sharing it.

Это даже не мультитул, который рассчитан полностью на коммерцию. Это инструмент для работы только со взрывчаткой. Если его использовать для данной цели, инструмент не подведет. А еще можно Т-90 рихтовать )
