It’s not a personal attack, don’t worry. They’re even making fun of themselves. They love watching people react to their music.

This sounded so good live yesterday at Aftershock... MISA's bass part came across like a defibrillator, so thumping in the chest. They had a huge crowd as well. Was definitely my highlight of the day.

You're good...Band-Maid LOVES you. This is a fantastic tune that, for me, just keeps getting better every listen. Someone snapped Akane's chains ....Head for the hills!!!! ....the Gorilla is loose!!!

This is a light-hearted attack compared to the lyrics of "HATE?".

I think you have a healthy way to see these kinds of things. Not only that many make their whole life public, but when the likes are missing it can become especially dangerous for the psyche. I've been able to observe that a longer time ago with myself, when I was disappointed that some of what I wrote or posted apparently remained without reaction. I am glad to have left this path a few years ago. For you as a channel owner, however, this is certainly a whole other topic. Like you said, a very fine line.

The band, and the people on the Band-Maid team, are wise enough to understand that reaction videos are a VERY GOOD thing for them.

Now we are hearing Influencer LIVE during 2022 USA Tour and surrendering our love to the Maids. That's a real Hunky Dory Day! Thx, Jim!

This song sounds ridiculously good. Catchy chorus, RAP, funky bass solo followed by the classical music style guitar solo!? Kanami is a mad genius. I'm not surprising anymore. She did it on purpose and I just LOVE it.
    Thanx for sharing!

Great reaction and they were thinking more about tiktock / instragram environment. They have said many times that they love watching YT reactions to their videos. When they filmed this video it was 100 F (they have a "making of" video on their home page and they were feeling the heat.

Hey Jim, loved the reaction and thoughts. There is a level of sarcasm to the lyrics but no attack, but lyrics that make you think are a good thing at times too. Like you, that bass solo with the drums gave me some goosebumps first time I heard it. I was not sold on the short rap segment but I have come around some with that. Have a good one!

I used to immediately get turned off by any rap, but I've come around on Japanese rapping. The wordy, staccato Japanese language works so well with rap.

@@Pit_Wizard When I listen to Rock music, I want melodic, clean vocals (a little vocal fry or such is fine). I don't want rap, screams or growls. There is a rare rap song I like, but it is more the exception that proves the rule kin of thing. I am not picky about the musical genre's that I enjoy but I am picky about the vocals I enjoy.

It's definitely not a personal attack. Band-Maid is also part of social media culture and sure they'd check how many views and likes they get, too.
It's easy to get obsessed and controlled by 'likes' count when you spend long time on social media in general, you get to a point where you think, I'm so sick of faking to get likes, worrying about how people would react if I say this or not.
Vocals have a slight sarcastic tone, but in a light, tongue-in-cheek way.
Let's face it, we enjoy reaction channels, I'm not into social media as much because there's not so much interesting information to be found compared to TH-cam.
The Influencer culture is here to stay and I click like to this video as I speak 😂

Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 Oh! you are one of influencers 😬 Saiki is singing "Hunky Dory" repeatedly. It sounds to me, an aged Japanese, a kind of word play or pun. This phrase is very close to Japanese expression "Honki (本気) Dori (or Tori 撮り)" that means 「本気」= serious, earnest, sincere" and 「撮り」= filming, recording, image capturing". This is cynically suitable 😄 to what influencers do, isn't it? In the rap part Saiki is also singing "Always that one-upping contest, chit-chat chit-chat". "Chit-chat" sounds like "chicchai ちっちゃい" in Japanese. That means "tiny, trivial, frivolous, worthless etc." Miku's lyrics includes a lot of word play. 🤔 This MV was filmed at a famous and old stone quarry (Ishikiri-Sanmyaku) located in Ibaraki prefecture, north of Tokyo. Kanami, the lead guitarist, was very scared when she stood near the brink of the cliff but she could defy the fear once cameras started to capture her playing scene. [source : Gekirock News].
"Influencer" was played on Sep.7 at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo in Band-Maid's pre-US concert as the 13th song and that was the premiere (live debut). Just so you know, I witnessed it at the venue ヽ(^o^)丿. Now, American fans are in process of becoming eye-witnesses. 😍 Influencer was played at Aftershock 2022, in Sacramento on Oct. 9, wasn't it?

Thank you! By the way, Miku confirmed the "chicchai ちっちゃい" pun in a recent interview in Spice magazine: "It's a bit of a pun, yes (po)! 'Chit chat' is a popular term overseas with young people, I believe." --Miku, 10/7/22
