    Thanks for doing this video. I am from San Francisco and owned a few property in bay area.. I have been watching your videos hoping to capture the area in my interest for retirement or investment. I have been to wikiki and visited big island 2 weeks ago. So far nothing catches my attention yet.

      First of all, mahalo for your continued viewership and support. My team truly appreciates your feedback and it helps us narrow in our efforts to bring even more value to people like yourself looking to move to and/or invest here in Hawaii.
      If you don't mind, please elaborate on your previous bay area properties as well as what you're looking for here in the islands. This way I can better serve your needs.
      Hawaii's housing market covers most bases when it comes to real estate investments.

      @WT: Mahalo for the comment. Let’s connect sometime and talk about what would spark your interest. This is a small place, so once I learn your preferences we will be able to dial it in.
      Like the Bay, each corner has its own vibe. Alameda is different than Oakland is different than the City, is different than Palo Alto etc etc. let’s chat 🤙🏽🤙🏽

      Hawaii drivers are some of the worse, they don't obey street signs and are extremely passive aggressive behind the wheels.

    Hate to say this but Kakaako feels overrated. But its definitely better than the 80s where it was all warehouses. I'd only be there to play basketball. I remember when the waterfront park never had all those UH medical buildings. Was just empty.

    bro, a long time ago, before I even started working at Louis Vuitton in Waikiki, I was a security guard for Gucci. Behind Gucci was a flat lot where I would buy, almost every day I worked, a steak plate lunch from the japanese guy that ran his mobile plate lunch stand. That same flat lot is now home to a new building !!! Crazy...lol...but this was many MANY years ago....

    Thanks for this…this is awesome. Like everyone else, I’ve been keeping track of all the condo developments and considering them as a possible living situation.
    It’s such a disparate choice: Condo urban living with all the conveniences a walking distance away vs. perhaps a home near or on the water in a remote part of the island north of Kaneohe. I’ll be close to 60yo by the time I get to Hawaii so the reality is that a condo in a place like Kakaako does make a lot of sense.
    Happy 4th…

    • @movingtohawaii
      @movingtohawaii  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello again, Gus. Now that you frame living in Hawaii that way, Kaka'ako is actually condo urban living with high walkability AND close to the water. Kind of an all-in-one option!
      Enjoy the holiday weekend!

    • @movingtohawaii
      @movingtohawaii  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aloha Cesar. It basically means you can’t move forward and/or maybe can’t finish the transaction, without XX being satisfied. In most cases we hear people buying a home but the transaction is “contingent” on the sale of their current home.

    Great video! Love your honest and friendly personality. I have been attracted to Hawaii since my youth in the 1970’s watching Jack lord in Hawaii Five 0. Are there any buildings, neighborhoods on Oahu that haven’t changed since then? Jack and his wife Marie lived at 4999 Kahala until their passing. I understand there is a bust of him at the kahala mall. Would love to visit the palace and other landmarks. Do you have a Jack Lord story to share.?

    • @movingtohawaii
      @movingtohawaii  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aloha, Sofia. I try to share the most real, most authentic experience possible. Mahalo for your feedback letting my team know that we're on the right track. Kahala is actually a video we are planning on shooting as part of the larger Honolulu Series - Hawaii Kai, Kahala (including Aina Haina and Niu Valley), Kaimuki, Waikiki, Makiki, Kaka'ako and Manoa Valley.
      There are many neighborhoods on Oahu that retain their 1970's look and feel. In fact, many homes in Kahala date to this period. Some neighborhoods on Oahu date further back towards the plantation days!
      Sorry, no personal Jack Lord stories to share. Hawaii Five-O stopped running a few years before I was born but I still recognize the name and face!

    Dear Derek do you think it will be possible for me to move there I am going to be honest I can’t by a house I am on disability and what I am looking for is a home that except disabled people and do you help people like that I hope so but if you don’t do you know any one who dose please get back with me it would mean a lot to me

    • @horacevu
      @horacevu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please take my reply with a grain of salt. Hawaii is easier for RICH people to retire. If you're financially struggling and on disability, Hawaii will eat you alive. This is a very expensive state to live in much less retire in. I'd rather take my chances with Florida than try to retire here in Hawaii unless you're wealthy. This is just my honesty and 2 cents.
