  • Coast-to-Coast (C2C) Trail across Florida. 250 miles long connection of many bike trails that reaches across Florida. I have done it from east to west, but now I ride from west to east. St. Petersburg to New Smyrna Beach and back to Jacksonville. I took Amtrak from Jacksonville to Tampa and rode to St. Petersburg to get started with the C2C trail. Follow my biking adventure as I ride across Florida and back to Jacksonville.

    I love how Florida has all these trails that connect. Mike and I want to do the Withlacoochee Trail and camp along the way. The Appalachian trail has been a dream of ours for years. Great video of our neck of the woods! The Tampa/St pete/Clearwater area offers so much to do.

    I finally made it here to watch your C2C Video.
    Good job on the video! It looks like you went across the Gandy Bridge.
    I didn't know you could catch a train to get near to Pinellas. Something for me to think about coming back if I ever get around to riding the C2C.
    That trail you started on that you saw the sign that said no outlet is called the North Bay Trail turns towards the water without warning. It's part of the 75 Mile Pinellas Trail Loop which parts of it are under construction. North Bay Trail is not but, the loop part is still under construction. When the trail turns into a sidewalk that was where we are supposed to turn. You got on the road. I did the same thing the first time I rode it. You still get to the start of Pinellas Trail the way you went. The other way you can enjoy riding by the water.
    Nice Nanday Parakeet. We have a lot of those and Monk Parakeets in St. Petersburg. I love seeing those Parakeets.
    You are lucky that part of the Pinellas Trail was open where the McDonald's was. It was closed for a while and there was some weird detour there.
    Where you showed were you got a Hotel Room in downtown Clearwater, that scared me. I am not sure where that Motel was but, I get a little nervous in that area sometimes even in the daytime. I've ridden that area at night too because I had no other choice after I got stuck riding after the sun went down. I was really nervous that night but, at least the place was lit up with bright Street lights.
    I do want to do the C2C Someday but, I am hesitating with planning to ride up the West Coast of Pinellas Trail. Once they complete the 75 Mile Loop, it will be easier to go Counter-Clockwise from St. Petersburg and there is no overpasses and it will cut about 3 to 4 miles. Those overpasses are harder to go up going Clockwise around Pinellas Trail than going Counter Clockwise. I know the Pinellas Trail well because I live here and I've ridden the pre-existing Loop before. I can't wait until the loop actually exists.
    On to the next video. Thanks for sharing your Journey. I might sound a little Negative but, I am not trying to be. Sorry if I sound that way.

      @FollowThomas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your insight information. I'm planning to do C2C again in January with my friend. It's good to get more information about the trail. I appreciate you're watching. Thank you! :)

    • @Phonamana
      @Phonamana 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FollowThomas to get some more info on Pinellas Trail there is a good Facebook page for the Pinellas Trail called Friends of Pinellas Trail if you want to know more about what's going on around here.
      You might even see like you said about the trail going from industrial to a better scenery the more North you went. LOL
      In St. Petersburg once you pass Tropicana Field where the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team plays, it get's a little sketchy passed that until we get passed the Tyrone Square Mall or after we pass the Cemetery on 58th St. If you see something questionable the next time you ride in that area then it's recommended to stop and turn around. We've had bad problems a long time ago. We haven't heard of anything happening in a while. Most people avoid that area. If I ride down there, I ride when I feel there is going to be more traffic like when the School gets out. The Weekends in the middle of the day should be fine. There will be more traffic on the trail. The more people you ride with on that part of the trail, the better and safer it is.

    I am happy that you are doing a bike tour again too! Is the Nandy parakeet native to Florida?

    • @FollowThomas
      @FollowThomas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nandy Parakeet or any other parrot or parakeet is exotic in Florida. Some of them are established. Carolina Parakeet was the only North America native parakeet. It went extinct 100 years ago. Last one died in February 21, 1918 at Cincinnati Zoo.

    Hey there Thomas! Wished you would have emailed me. We are in the area for our daughters wedding and I would have liked to cycle with you for a bit. We head back to California in a couple days to continue our cycle tour south and into Mexico. Pinellas County is set up very nice for cyclists and Pasco is getting there too! You can go from St Petersburg to pretty much Brooksville all on cycling trails. In Brooksville you can pick up another trail system that will take you past Inverness. From there you’re Golden and will be on small country roads. Happy cycling! ~Ron

      Didn't know you are back home. What a ride you have.
      Coast-to-Coast (C2C) trail I'm riding is connection of trails across Florida. I took Pinellas trail to Starkey Trail and Suncoast trail to Brooksville. After that was 30-mile cap between the trails but today I continue from Clermont. By the way I've done that long 46-mile Withlacoochee trail before. One of my favorite long trails in Florida. All the best to your extra-extra long bike tour. How many months it takes to ride from Canada to Argentina? And when you planning to finish it?

    • @PedalPowerTouring
      @PedalPowerTouring 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FollowThomas no worries, we were only here a couple weeks for our daughter's wedding. Thank you and yes it's one amazing adventure so far. We fly back to California on Thursday and will continue bike touring south. We are about 4 months into what we think will take about 2 years or at least this is what we have planned for. I know some have done the Alaska to Argentina is less time and some have taken much longer. We'll see how it goes for us. Enjoy your ride across the state and maybe when we return we can go on a bike tour around Florida together. :-) All the best! ~Ron & Petra
