  • I do my first real flow test of some old injectors, and then show you how to remove the pintle caps to GREATLY increase their flow rate.
    Click Show More to Show More!
    On this test I start with injectors that flow 228 cc/min and decap them to find that they flow AT LEAST 774 cc/min, with some flowing as much as 810 cc/min!
    The injectors used were part number 25317628.

    Thanks for sharing! Great job on the video, perfect explaining of what you got going on and straight to the point! Thank you 👌

    Removing the caps will increase the mass flow rate however, you hurt the atomization properties of the injector. This reduces the quality of mixing. More fuel may be reaching the chamber but less of it will be getting burned causing the engine to run rich. The better way to increase flow is to adjust the pressure drop across the injector and adjust the hole size and pattern accordingly. This will result in keeping a good spray pattern when increasing the flow rate.

    i know you are changing the code but can you share it still? would give alot of people a good starting point

    Dude, WTF is up with people not being willing to share code??? I wrote flex fuel code for an arduino and I was willing to share... make all the excuses you want... not sharing it is not sharing it.

    first thank you for sharing your experiments with other people and your efforts, the added information i got now after this experiment is that the holes disc increasing the pressure as it performs as orifice and keeping fuel upstream so it is good in fuel economy or am i wrong?

    Good video, Thanks,
    Want to do my own flow matching for my car. 5.3 with a turbo!
    Regular fuel pump from a truck/battery and ??? Do I need a pressure gauge?
    Thank you!!!

    And then, decapping, is good or bad ?? Thank you. :)

    I thought injectors were suppose to be run fully open when flow testing?

    • @elcascoviejo5347
      @elcascoviejo5347 ปีที่แล้ว

      thers many ways to test them but, the fully opened its the worst because in a real evyroment it not do 100% duty cycle

    If I were mounting these injectors above a roots blower Id be all for trying this. Otherwise no way. Its going to seriously affect spray pattern and atomization. Sucks to say the only good choice we have is bite the bullet and pay for quality injectors in the flow rate we need for our applications.

      I've made 700 horsepower on these. Spray pattern isn't great but it's not noticeably worse than large aftermarket injectors like my Deka 80s.

    Many thanks mate :D

      Mineral spirits. It's usually clear, the coloring comes from the old gasoline that it is removing from the injectors.
      I now put them in an ultrasonic cleaner before putting them in the injector tester to get out most of the gunked up old fuel.

    Would u be able to use decapped injectors on a stock engine?

    • @tommylyeah
      @tommylyeah 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but decapped injectors don't atomize the fuel as well, so if your engine is N/A, that might be a problem.

      I've already changed it a LOT from this video. Using SSR now, with an LCD screen and 2 potentiometers that allow me to set an RPM and duty cycle first. Code on everything I do is always changing. I'm also upgrading to 1000cc graduated cylinders so I can run injectors pulse width up to 1 full minute total to get an accurate cc/min.

    What psi was the rail at on your test? I have these decapped just like the ones you have.I plan to run 60psi at the fuel rail. Do you know what the injectors would flow in CCs at the 60psi fuel rail pressure?

    • @awesomeauto6975
      @awesomeauto6975  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was using the stock truck regulator on the fuel rails to control fuel pressure, so it would have been a 58 PSI test.
