You nailed it early in the podcast, Perna - the difference is the completion percentage - in the PAC12 v. SEC. In the former's "turnstile D". So when Bo Nix faces even better defences in the NFL than he saw in the SEC, he will revert to his piss-poor completion percentage, is my guess.
I hope the Broncos draft Nix and I hope he does well. I just want to hear Perna repeatedly say my name with love. Even this video tingled my bingles. (I am known as Mayor Nix btw).
Honestly Nix is an enigma but hes the only QB I am looking at in the draft. As much as I hate to say it, Denver might be an ideal place for him. If for no other reason than Denver is going to bomb hard this year due to rebuild mode which will give him that year to get up to NFL speed. Which begs the question why not just focus on rebuilding the other areas of the team Payton just shattered and THEN get a franchise QB. Cause honestly, Do you think Denver is going to be going lower than the 15th pick in the draft next year? Honestly,. regardless of where he gets picked, hes a second round talent.
Coaches shrinking down an offense so the QB rarely has to throw downfield is a MASSIVE red flag. I get Payton made his offense play well with Brees at the end of his career when Brees threw short a lot as his arm declined, but that doesn't mean he prefers a limited QB. And that is what Nix is, a limited QB. No, Payton would much rather have a QB who is Brees in his prime, not the limited Brees at the age of 40. In other words he wants Penix Jr.
I've been saying that for months. I think Penix is a great fit at Denver; I don't get why nobody is talking about it. Penix needs a good O-line, And Denver's is top 10. I think he would thrive there. And they could trade down to get him and grab an extra pick for it, which they desperately need.
I feel bad for Broncos fans. They’ve had a lot of things go bad recently and now there are rumors they’re reaching for Bo Nix in the 1st. He might work out, but it’s hard to tell based on his college gameplay. He was in a gimmick offense that just didn’t ask him to throw downfield. That’s something you need to do in the NFL. Maybe he can do that, but he wasn’t asked to in college. It’s the same problem as McCarthy where they seem promising, but neither was asked to do in college what they will be in the NFL. A second round pick is fair value based on upside but I’d be nervous about him in the first.
The real question everyone seems to avoid isn't, "is he a boom or a bust?" The real question is, "Do we have the coaching staff to teach this kid to be successful?"
I feel like this draft is going to be like one of those Christmas’s where mom and pop couldn’t afford much so you just gotta pretend like you’re happy with what you get.
Seahawks are probably not taking a QB in the first round, they took a chance on Howell who is the same age as most of the QBs in this draft. It wouldn’t make sense to take nix when Howell is 7 months younger than him.
@@kevineiford2153 that doesn’t mean we have to go get penix. People keep making assumptions based off our coaches. People did the same thing with assuming that we’d sign former Ravens because of MacDonald. Now people think we’ll draft penix, former huskies or wolverines because of the coaches.
I remember when the predraft process gaslighted the Jets into taking Zach Wilson as if he wasn't a project that needed serious development time in a market that's bad for developing QBs
You have them but you also get guys like love who are taken late in the 1st and ball out. QBs taken especially after pick 1, is just a gamble where nobody really knows
@@itsaboutTime2revolt Yeah I disagree, I heard a whole hell of a lot of hype around how the 2020 bama team was "one of the best all time" (I don't think that but many do) he went 15th overall, I heard a lot of hype around him
This guy is a perfect pick for the Broncos *because* he's 24 (and thus has the extra experience at the college level). They can instantly put him on the field and he shouldn't be an embarrassment. I don't think he's going to go out there and win ten games, but it's possible he could win six. Let him grow with the team and in a four years or so with a team growing up with him, maybe the Broncos can think about being a contender again.
What blows my mind is that J.J. McCarthy is being considered over both Michael Penix and Bo Nix, personally, I feel McCarthy is overrated asf, but that's just my opinion.
It blows my mind, too. I wouldn't draft any of them in the first round, I think drafting QBs in the first round is a silly thing for the most part, but I definitely wouldn't draft JJ ahead of any of them.
The problem with Bo Nix that is essentially keeping him off the first round is He has potential bust written all over him, and his background in Auburn and the NFL owners, coaches and scouts have already seen QB's like him become busts. I could definitely see a team trade up early in the second(late in the first if you go that far) picking him after picking up a core part of their team in the first.

Visiting in late November at 7-5, 2,548 yds, 16 throwing td’s, 4 rush td’s, 6 int’s. Things are looking alright here in broncos country
Bo Nix won’t work out under Sean Payton Bo was already complaining about his Auburn HC. Just imagine when he plans for Sean Payton 😆
After your review I am actually excited about getting Bo Nix!
The real question everyone seems to avoid isn't, "is he a boom or a bust?"
The real question is, "Do we have the coaching staff to teach this kid to be successful?"
Oh Seattle is definitely making a move on a QB
@@angellopezz1639 why? Let everyone else who desperately needs a QB get one. We can get one next year to compete with Howell.
We also hired Penix's OC
@@kevineiford2153 that doesn’t mean we have to go get penix. People keep making assumptions based off our coaches. People did the same thing with assuming that we’d sign former Ravens because of MacDonald. Now people think we’ll draft penix, former huskies or wolverines because of the coaches.
@@angellopezz1639 based on what?
Worst case Nix makes a solid QB2 for any team
I don't want Bo Nix. He is Paxton Lynch 2
I'm a Broncos fan, Boise State Broncos! 👍 on the video.
Bo nix is going to be the qb from the draft coming from a Oregon fan
I automatically start the “pew pew” before Perna plugs the channel.
I remember when the predraft process gaslighted the Jets into taking Zach Wilson as if he wasn't a project that needed serious development time in a market that's bad for developing QBs
Vanilla Vick 😂🤣😂🤣 Bravo, good sir! Bravo!
I love when qbs get hyped up every year just to be the next mac jones, I feel like JJ, Bo and Penix will all be busts to some extent
You have them but you also get guys like love who are taken late in the 1st and ball out. QBs taken especially after pick 1, is just a gamble where nobody really knows
@@CoC_Lord You are not wrong, it's all about the system and the coaching, I just feel like this qb class has been more overhyped than previous years
I wouldn't say Mac was really "hyped"...until after his rookie year for the Pats. But whatever...we can totally say/think different things...
@@itsaboutTime2revolt Yeah I disagree, I heard a whole hell of a lot of hype around how the 2020 bama team was "one of the best all time" (I don't think that but many do) he went 15th overall, I heard a lot of hype around him
I watched bos interview with colin and he seems like he has a good head on hos shoulders, an intelligent. He also had many ocs and schemes to learn
Just in time for his 2nd contract and Patrick Mahomes 3rd or 4th cast of teammates on a super bowl team. 🎉
Playing London Bridges in the background is classic 😂
Hell nah
do a nfl draft power rankings qb edition & bring back the wrath of the wheel
I personally think Bo Nix is the guy who's going to stand out of this QB class. Williams is going to pick pockets and go home.
What are you even talking about
@@thekrustychub5038 Williams is not a leader of men he will not succeed in the NFL.
stand out for how bad he will be 😂
@@cavemantero literally everyone he has ever played with has had great things to say about him and his leadership. Only people who say he isn't a leader are people who have never met him before
Brandon "I'm slowly going insane waiting to see who will be the Broncos QB in 2024" Perna
waiting for that balls deep 2020 season
Or, maybe the problem wasn't Wilson but Payton. As for Nix, is he even as good as Stidham?
Then why did Russ get significantly better after Payton joined? Payton was only there one year and that was the best year Russ had in Denver
Great sales pitch Brandon! Bo knows Broncos 🎉
NO HE IS NOT
YES HE IS
MAYBE HE MIGHT BE
WHY IS EVERYONE YELLING?!!!
@@matthias8896 yeah he might be tbh especially cause his experience, i’m just hating cause I was early lol
