    In my 30s I was consulting psychics, astrologers, reiki, tarot readers, etc. I had adrenal fatigue the entire time. When I repented and decided to follow Jesus Christ, that fatigue (spiritual oppression IMO) lifted. I’m 50 now and my energy is fine and normal. I’m healthy.

    I was against Christianity too. I read tarot cards, and I was involved in many new age practices. Little by little I became disinterested in them until the one day Christ revealed himself to me. I was aware in that instance of all the sin I had done throughout my life, and it made me feel deeply sorrowful that I had hurt God that much. Several days after grieving over my sin, God lifted my spirit, and I had a similar experience of being a child again. I too remember looking at all the trees and seeing them so bright and vivid. Creation looked completely different, and I marveled how I never saw it in such a way before that moment. I have been a Christian for fourteen years now. It has been a difficult road, and I have lost many friends and family for becoming Christian. I even lost my beautiful husband of twenty years. I pray God heals him too. I have lost many things, but I love God so much that I am happy to have been given this gift from Him. I pray God blesses you in all good things. Thank you for sharing.

    I too new age to Jesus!! There are a lot of us!! Happy I am not alone.. I got a lot of crap when I told my new age friends that I was leaving it. I think it is easier for us to believe because we have encountered the spiritual experiences.

    I really was touched by your testimony, especially when you spoke of your dreams. I had set myself on a quest for spiritual truth after a car accident and it led me down a new age/reiki path. Because of the progressive Christianity movement, I was practicing reiki(essentially witchcraft) while still saying I believed in Jesus. Didn’t know the word and held all new age beliefs. I was only involved in reiki for about 2 years but during that time I was in a full blown existential crisis. I had PTSD(catastrophic thinking) which I now know was just extreme demonic oppression. I would have dreams at night where I was going into different realms of consciousness, nights where I could feel my soul being sucked out of my body, and just a preoccupation with death/dying. Just empty. My spirit was shattered. Funny thing is I had a physical aversion to reiki, sage, binaural beats etc right from the get go, but I blamed it on my anxiety. About four months ago I was sitting in my room just broken and all of a sudden I was in the presence of Christ and was baptized in the Holy Spirit(didn’t know that at the time.) I kept hearing the name Jesus in my mind’s eye and felt an overwhelming sense of peace, of love I didn’t know possibly to feel and of being forgiven all at once. As well as deep remorse. I woke up the next day and I knew I was different, the world wasn’t what I thought, and I actually thought that my third eye had opened lol. I now know it was the Holy Spirit. I knew that Jesus was the truth and had an insatiable desire to read the Bible and to know the story of Christ. Since then I read the Bible, pray a lot, speak to God honestly all day everyday sometimes I wonder if He gets sick of hearing from me lol. It’s been a huge change. I’ve lost some friends, my family doesn’t understand but I’m okay because God is with me. That part has been a little rough lately. I pray for God to put Christian friends in my life. I tell my story all over the place on forums, new age sights, and just everywhere I can but I want to do more. I know God will let me know in His timing what that will look like and until then I will be patient. Thanks again for sharing this beautiful testimony. Crazy how many of us go searching for truth when the truth was right in front of us all along! God bless 🙏

      Thanks for your testimony! I love hearing how our God saves people. Reiki is demonic alright. My wife was initiated and had visions of symbols and stuff. I live in North Scotland, very out of the way and traditional, yet reiki, mantra meditation and false doctrine is going on in the churches in my small town. Incredible how new age is trying to take over.

    This was the most powerful testimony I have watched to date. From someone who is just coming out of the New Age and still struggling with being pulled backwards, I just want to thank you for allowing me to hear your story. All I could think when you spoke of what happened once you crossed that threshold into what most people would probably consider “Christ consciousness” was “yeah, that’s what people are seeking- nothingness.” Glory to Jesus, He loves us so much!!!

      Thanks for your encouragement. I have to acknowledge that mystical "Christ consciousness" type experiences happen and are very persuasive on a deep emotional level. It's only after being born again that you can know it for what it is - a glittering prize that turns out to be empty. A psychological experience that though powerful, has nothing to do with our God -who is the only true God. The truth is awesome!! WHat used to appear to me like the height of wisdom - that you need to deconstruct your thinking mind in order to know God - now seems just foolish.

    It's quite humbling to realize that Jesus was seeking us out. Nothing that we have done has earned this (or disqualified us). The God of the Universe knows who I am? And He wants a relationship with me? That's so mind blowing. So many people have the totally wrong impression of the Lord. He is not mean or cruel or angry or vindictive. Quite the contrary, He is the kindest, most beautiful, sweetest, and most generous Person ever. His smile lights up the universe. I'm forever grateful that Jesus gave me a new heart and a new spirit...He turned me into a totally new creation. Being born again is the most important event in my life. The baptism of the Holy Spirit was huge too. All I know is Jesus came to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

    Thank you Jonathan! I was on a very similar path as you, I dabbled in every religion and spiritual tradition you could think of, except Christianity of course! Their beliefs seemed childish. They're brainwashed, they couldn't think for themselves, I could. I tried everything, Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabbalah, Wicca, Hermeticism, Sacred Geometry, Quantum Physics, everything. I eventually came to believe the ultimate truth was emptiness and I was 'better' and 'special' cause I knew this, I thought I was some kind of superhuman cause I spent every minute in meditation. It is all the devil, taking me anywhere but to the name of Jesus Christ, the name above all other names. The devil took me everywhere and to everything but to the one thing I need, which is Jesus Christ, the Truth, the Way and the Life. God is real, Jesus is real. Jesus is the Truth. The Bible is Truth. Jesus thank You for allowing me to see, Jesus thank You.

    Beautiful testimony. When you meditate, and empty the mind, you also leave it unguarded, and anything can come into it. It is like leaving your door open to your house when you are away. Many have been fooled by these other religions but if you really read the bible you will find out about where God takes a stand in the divine council, gives judgement in the midst of the gods, (Psalms 82). Also read chapter 6 in Genesis and keep searching until you see the truth. You may want to start with the new testament but the old testament is very important in understanding what truly has happened and how it leads to the new testament. Do your studies, even listen to the bible scholars such as Michael Heiser or Chuck Missler . Jesus is real, for I too have had an experience from the Holy Spirit that showed me so. Godspeed

It’s seems that every time I get close to giving my life to the Lord something pulls me away or distracts me and I have to start all over again almost like a loop or vicious circle. I feel I truly need to be baptized, and rid my life of these ugly sins...it’s exhausting

    • @jonathanlr4167
      @jonathanlr4167  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do b think it's essential too get baptized. Might help in your in problem. Jesus says " if anyone acknowledges me before men, I will acknowledge him before my heavenly father" baptism is the public acknowledgement of Jesus as lord. Also Romans 10 says if you confess with your mouth that n Jesus is lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved, for be it's with your heart that you believe and are justified and with your mouth that you confess and are saved'". - " repent and be baptized, everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you will receive the gift of the holy spirit". Acts 2:38. . I think we need to rely ultimately on god's word, which says that there is salvation in and through Jesus alone, and that apart from this way the only end for us is eternal destruction ( Matthew 7:13). This includes all other religions and " spiritual paths". If you're not fully convinced of this it'll be hard to make that step of commitment. Do you feel certain that this is the truth?

    Hi Jonathan, thank you for the powerful testimony. I have been saved recently (11/20) at 46 y/o after decades of self help and new age entanglements. The love and forgiveness felt and feels (the sensation comes and goes) so real. J gave it all to the Lord, I really did. What a wonderful testimony. I personally believe that god may have been following god all along, and that in the end - you found him. Because I have certainly taken a different path in life that has led me to surrender to Jesus, and now Jesus/holy spirit is taking me along a path that is very alike the meditation proccess that you did that led you into darkness. The path of darkness and light seem to be very similar but end up in worlds apart. The path of darkness is a path of acceptance and letting go, an acceptance of self with sin and a defiled concience. The path of light seems to be the path of acceptance of forgivness of ones sin and the restoring of conscience through Jesus. In an esoterical sense. My 2 cents anyways.

      @@jonathanlr4167 My pleasure! Kind of.. By abiding in the holy spirit given by Jesus as much as possible. Also in wordless prayer that can last for 1 - 2 hours. And letting go of everything else but the holy spirit, and what you have left is pure spirit, pure life. I basically die to myself as often as I can, die to my world. I let go of it. Addictions, personal problems, thoughts, worldy things, you name it. But the more I do it the more sharp and light life gets. Just by letting go. I've literally done it when having the sun infront of me, seeing the sunlight get stronger and stronger and clearer for every heartbeat.
      I was into meditation for a short while before being saved, and tried hinduism as well, and I that's where I found out the process, but then and there it did NOT have the same results.

      @@AndrewFerrer3d Interesting. I couldn't say that I can seperate the holy spirit from Jesus. ( the SPirit's job is to testify to/reveal him - John 15))the closest I get to anything like that is sometimes I just say his name a lot , or think quietly of him, like an inner gaze on him , but my heart is set on Jesus. Without my mind being involved, like with a blank empty mind, there's no connection for me. What is the Holy SPirit? he is Jesus in us. Eckhart Tolle talks about a "vast inner spaciousness that you can experience through stillness. I used to experience this sometimes in my old life and practices, one time it was so powerful, I was lying in bed with close eyes, floating deliciously in a vast peace filled space . Suddenly a vision appeared , like I was seeing with my eyes open in super real 3D right in front of my face, I was able to study the image in detail - it was the head of a deadly snake! For this and many other scriptural/ personal experience reasons I am very suspicious of relinquishing my conscious mind in the way i used to. I wish you well on your path, if it ever leads places that contradict scripture I'd advise caution.

    • @AndrewFerrer3d
      @AndrewFerrer3d 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On a further note, I do actually think that Jesus and the Holy spirit are somewhat separable. The fruits of the holy spirit are not graspable and render only to ones experience, however, all of which Jesus is seems to be graspable, as he is the personification of god. The graspable image of god. This verse from John 16:5-16 came to mind after my message; “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
      My thoughts anyways.

      @@AndrewFerrer3d. I understand the fruits of the spirit in the light of Galatians 5:22, love peace, joy , patience, self control, gentleness, kindness etc. I think Paul's referring not so much to a subjective experience but sanctification and outward character transformation being the "evidence" of the Spirit in us. So you could say the working of the SPirit is made tangible by our growing in these traits ( frustratingly slowly it seems at times!)Because of my new age past, personally I'm just wary of seeking or prioritising spiritual experience in and of itself. I'm not trying to invalidating your experience though, I appreciate your comments. . Of course there is a connection between whether we're manifesting these fruits and our subjective experience of Christ in the Holy Spirit. Like if I neglect to spend time with God in prayer and reading & meditating on the scriptures regularly , I start falling back into old negative patterns. We need to turn to God by the Spirit to having our minds renewed. Praise the Lord we can always do that and he will always be there pouring out living water! "If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’”…JOhn 7:37

    Thank you, Jonathan for your moving testimony. It's funny, I came across a book on the origins of Findhorn just yesterday & was wondering what to think of all that. Decades ago, when I felt mangled by the 'heavy shepherding' of the church I'd had to leave, but then felt lost in a no-man's land - coming across a book by Eileen Caddy totally restored my faith & bridged the gap. For a long time I managed to keep my faith & develop a closer relationship with Jesus; then - ah, well, the long slow slide into new-agey stuff, until Now - when I can see how dangerous and deceptive it all is. But, yesterday - I wondered about Eileen and Findhorn again - and lo! I came across your video precisely by typing in New Age to Christianity - what to believe. I stayed for a year after coming to faith. I moved out because of getting married. I wouldn't have minded staying because people need to hear about Jesus. I met Eileen caddy, she was a very nice lady. Buy Jesus says about false teachers that we'll know them by their fruit. When Eileen first started hearing the voice she thought she was going mad. The voice that claimed to be god persuaded her to leave her husband and family to go off with another man - Peter caddy. This is how findhorn community started. Good would never command someone to commit adultery. If you measure everything by god's word and the boundary lines come v clear. I got to the point where it just became so very clear to me that there was absolutely nothing I could do to change either my outer circumstances of my inner reality - my personality, behaviours, responses and my basic feeling I always had of not being connected to life. I had nowhere left to go - I was in a place where my self had to be ended and I had to start again with a new one. I didn't know this was possible but it is. This is what the Holy Spirit does, makes you new again. The old feelings of emptiness disappear and everything is made new and filled with meaning but it's a meaning and a life that you didn't know existed. All this happens through Jesus. Hope that makes some sense

      Please seek Jesus Christ, he can help you, he can heal you, and turn darkness into light. he is the way -The only way. The way to do this is to ask. Find some time alone and speak to God your Father or to Jesus Christ. It doesn't matter if you don't believe or not sure if they are real. You just come as you are, say exactly what is true for you, how you feel, and what you need , just like you are to me. YOu can say, "God , I have no idea if you're real or exist but if you do , please show me, please help me and tell him exactly what is in your heart. It's important to speak this out loud, not just in your head. The only thing God needs from you is your honesty. The reason God brought me out of the darkness I was in was because I called out to Jesus to save me. This is his promise: "for everyone who calls on the NAME OF THE LORD will be saved" (Romans 10:13). There are 2 more things you can do - read the Gospels. Make sure you read John's gospel, especially chapter 6 , also Matthew. Say a prayer before and ask God to give you understanding of what you read. The other thing is to find some genuine born again Christians where you are and ask for their help and tell them what's going on. The place to find them is Church - not surprisingly! But there are churches too where you will not find or hear too much of what really counts or spirit filled people. Ask God to lead you to the right place. I will pray for you. GOd bless, you , you are doing the right thing in calling out for help. I f you have any questions, please ask. I will give you any help I can. The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.
      "
      Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Jesus - Luke 10:27-30)
      Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7 :37)

I’ve been educating myself by reading the Bible, Christian philosophers and historians in the hopes that I can be ready to answer hard questions and know how to share the gospel. My friends in new age culture all seem to rotate thru a series of spiritual experiences all in an effort to reach some higher self and it grieves my heart. I feel called to pray for each of them everyday and so I do. Listening to your story has just encouraged me so much to keep on praying and trusting God to bring them out of darkness.

I’ve been reading the chronological bible and watching Doreen Virtue’s (New Age author now Christian -Baptist ) encouragement and support videos on Vimeo. There are probably others as well. They’ve helped with understanding what I’m reading and keeping things organized. I’ve also started going to a small humble brethren church near me. Blessings to you.

      Thanks for you reply. By fundamentalism, do you mean the belief that there is only one way to God and that way is Jesus Christ? IN John 18:37 he says - " for this reason I was born and came into the world - to testify to truth, everyone who belongs to the truth listens to me". Any one who listens to Jesus, trusts him and believes him must be a fundamentalist. because Jesus himself teaches clearly in many places in the New testament that there is no way to know God or to be saved except by through (faith in ) him. The apostles also teach this. For me - I have both Jesus word, and also my own experience that convince me that this is the truth. There is some misunderstanding about this - people often think "fundamentalism" in Christianity is something that "the church" through history has kind of invented. Actually The ONLY REASON born again Christians are fundamentalist is because they believe and follow the teaching of Jesus. You could say that if there is a problem with fundamentalism, the problem lies with Jesus he was a fundamentalist and so were the apostles - if you believe the scriptures. I know this is impossible for people to accept. It was impossible for me too until I came to know Christ personally. Fundamentalism has become a dirty word , but for me it's an uncompromising faith and trust in what Jesus says.

      I don't think you need to be worried about this as a danger, - the people who perpetrated the crusades, Spanish inquisition , the burning and torturing of people etc. were not born again. There's no way they would do these things if they were - Jesus commanded his followers to "love your enemies, bless those who curse you and pray for those who persecute you". The bloody history of the Roman Catholic church isn't because they took the BIble's teachings literally, it's because they entirely departed from it's central teaching about salvation. The Gospel message had over the course of a millennia, been lost by the RC Church establishment. That's what the reformation was about , people like Luther re-discovered the gospel message, and challenged the Papacy's false teaching and hypocritical behaviour. Born again believers like Luther were top of the RC church's hit list. Great testimony! I was wondering. At what point after the weird Tony Parson's thing did you return to a normal experience of life? Was it the night of the dream when you called to Jesus? HI , The Tony Parsons "experience" took about 3 days to wear off although I had sort of flashbacks for weeks afterwards. I guess I started having normal thoughts again the following day but was in and out of that state. It was 2 years afterwards before I had the dream about Jesus. During that 2 years I was still seeking non duality by passively observing my thought and emotional life. So I was functioning and thinking normally normally but had became emotionally empty like I couldn't identify with feelings because absolutely nothing had any meaning at all any more. The day all that ended and I was made new was the morning I went to Church and heard and believed the Gospel and was born again. I didn't go back to how I was before Tony Parsons though. I was made new at age 40 , like a total spiritual re-boot, the Bible calls it being made a new creation - being born again. It wasn't like things were Ok before I got into non duality practices. I believe that even if I had never got into spiritual practices and had gone a different road in life, I would have got to this point of emptiness and hopelessness anyway and been found by Jesus. The problem wasn't meditation really , the problem was me. I believe that meditation and non duality are offered as a way to spirituality, peace and knowledge of God. My experience is that this is false and deceptive and directs people like myself away from and blinds them to the true source of spiritual life - Jesus Christ.

But they don't change your heart - you just come back to the same sinful nature unchanged. So it leads to a constant seeking of transcendent spiritual experience. This is a kind of escapism that leads eventually to disassociation from normal life and personhood. It has nothing to with God but because these states are so powerful , people having them assume it does. developmental psychologists say that in infancy a child's perception makes no distinction between itself and the world outside. I wonder if the mystical type experience of "merging into oneness with everything" is simply flipping into an infantile pre-thought state of perception in which we all lived in before we learned language. The memory of it is there in our brains somewhere. This makes sense because these spiritual techniques are all about stopping one's internal dialogue. That's just my own take on it.

    What're your feelings on Christian mysticism? Have you read any works from the monastics throughout church history? Some of the greatest church fathers and theologians were Mystics - St Augustine for example

    • @jonathanlr4167
      @jonathanlr4167  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't read much Catholic mysticism. A bit of Theresa of Avila, Julian of Norwich. Not sure what to think. what I've seen of modern contemplative prayer teaching is that it's just eastern meditation techniques re-packaged in Christian terms which I am very suspicious of. From the little I know (so maybe I'm wrong) it seems that mystical monks' writings have something in common, they don't mention the Gospel much, if at all. I read "Practicing the Presence of GOd" by brother Lawrence and found the basic premise inspiring but also found it odd that he doesn't mention Jesus really at all. Any kind of Christianity that talks about God in abstract personal experience based terms and which isn't centred on the Gospel I feel is potentially suspect. Jesus didn't teach his followers to retire into monasteries and live a secluded contemplative life like Therevada Buddhists. He told them to go into all the world and preach the Gospel and love people. Some things I've read left me with the feeling that Jesus was an irrelevance and we have no need for his death on the cross at all. I didn't know Augustine was a mystic, although I have read confessions. What makes a Christian "mystical" ? Bit confused about the term really. Is it having personal supernatural revelations. What's your opinion?

    • @LoveAlreadyWon
      @LoveAlreadyWon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jonathan LR To me mysticism is essentially direct experience of God - mainly through inward awareness.
      It's an interesting and tricky subject. I feel that looking within and growing a sensitivity to the presence of the Holy Spirit is essential.
      I come from a new age background, studied shamanism and eastern paths as well as nonsensical new age nonsense, and had a series of demonic encounters and Holy Spirit encounters which led be to Jesus.
      It's funny, when I first became a Christian I completely wrote off everything I had ever learned as demonic, and became super dogmatic and bible bashing, and overtime noticed my fruit was rotten, even though my intention was to spread truth.
      So as I've stated to read the bible myself, instead of following man's interpretation of it, I've found that a lot of the mystical experiences and lessons I've gained thereof are all over scripture.
      One time I was holding my bible and heard "Deuteronomy 12", in which the Lord tells the Israelites to stop DOING what they think is right for they had not yet entered the RESTING PLACE and INHERITANCE He has for them.
      What a heart warming verse. To me it confirmed, what I've found to be true, is as we learn to cultivate a faithful, surrendered, but righteous atmosphere within, everything flows from there. From our inner beingness and rest, flows our doing, and a natural inclination for righteousness.
      Or Psalm 4:4, "meditate in your heart upon your bed".
      Or the fact that Jesus says the kingdom of God is within us, which He said to the Pharisees!!!
      And I agree, you do often find a lack of the gospel in mystical writing, but more of a reverence for the presence of the Holy Spirit.
      Though this can seem offensive or as a red flag, I think it's necessary, because, there's so many people walking around whom have given their life to Jesus and recognize what He did for us, but they're complete messes on the inside because there's no inner awareness.
      Jesus told us we'd be PERFECT as our Heavenly Father is. I think there's a lot we don't understand.
      With that said, earlier I was reading writings by Catherine of Siena, more mystically oriented, but very focused on the blood of Jesus.
      Have you ever heard of the book "Devotional Classics" by Richard J Foster? It's a seminary staple.
      It has writings from evangelicals, charismatics, Mystics, etc. it's a beautiful balance of the whole thing.
      Any how, thanks for your reply.

      @@LoveAlreadyWon thanks. I can relate to what you're saying. I like this literal translation of Hebrews 11.1: "now faith is the substantiation of things hoped for, the conviction of things unseen". "Substantiation" = something being made real/substantial....We all depend on the relationship we have with our lord from day to day as a real living experience which depends on us turning to the spirit through prayer, thinking about the things of God and reading the Bible, and also anointed teaching through other Christians. I get your point that for some Christians there may be more of a head only knowledge of God which isn't going to yield the peace that comes from God. I sometimes can fall into this if I neglect to have time for that personal inner relationship. I guess where I feel very unclear is in referring to this experience of Christ as mysticism. I agree it's complicated issue. New age and Eastern mysticism teach that direct knowledge of God resides and must reside beyond words, thought and belief. So specific religious beliefs are seen as something we must go beyond, even as being limiting or enslaving. This I feel contradicts and is a denial of the truth. Because our inner experience of the truth of Christ depends on faith (in him and the gospel) and this faith depends on the promises of God revealed only in god's word. Our salvation is by believing the gospel which is a very specific message. It is a definite belief in which we have to stand and continue . My wariness of Christian mysticism is that it may subtly lead away from centrality of faith in the gospel into the territory of universalist mysticism. People may be drawn to seeking special transcendental experiences and believing that the gospel isn't really important or even true and no longer believing in the literal meaning of scripture concerning salvation. This seems like a road that can end up in full blown gnosticism which is luciferic.

      “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?” - (Luke 9:25).
      Don't worry about your circumstances with family , or about the boy thing. God will take care of it. You won't feel the way you think you will. Everything is completely transformed. It's awesome! Do you know any genuine born again Christians? it's a good idea to talk to someone and not be alone with this ( as long as they are genuine,) a lot of people identify as Christians but that doesn't mean they really have a personal relationship with the Lord? You can tell if they're for real because they'll want to share their faith with you.
