This lens is one of the most complete lens ever! Great for travel, macro, nice bokeh, super portable, small and surprisingly cheap to be a new RF lens! Love it combined with my eos RP!
Love your reviews. Awesome to see you in a bigger space now. But please set up some sound absorption or fabric panels to kill the reverb! Keep up great work man
This is a wonderful lens, so versatile and produced the best quality images i have taken with the new Canon EOS RP yet. Great review and honest description.
Such a great lens. I have the 16-35 MK iii, 24-105, rf, 85 and 50, and I think of selling them all and just stay with the 35. I don’t know if it’s the best one, but it makes shooting fun as hell
I’m an RP owner still not able to decide on my first RF lens. Do I go for the 35 or hold out/save up another third more UK pennies for the 24-105 F4. I suppose it depends on whether the majority of my photos using EF lenses are around the 35mm?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the RF 35mm 1.8! I’m very interested in getting one for myself. Do you use yours with a filter as well, or just by itself?
It's a nice little lens, which I bought and tried for a short while, but I ended up selling it. The main reason for selling is the corner sharpness at landscape apertures such as F8 or F11 is no better than the other RF lens I have, the RF 24-105 F4. I expect a prime lens to be sharper than a zoom.
I lent this lens and have a RF85f2, for studio work the RF35 is quite good, but for dynamic work, the STM motor is driving me nuts as it delays the right moment action photo. I always miss the right moment. The EF lens was faster and the picture quality at f2 and f2.8 was a bit better, so the RF lenses seem to have some variations here. I don't need macro as I like the 85mm for that purpose more. Also I got the EF version cheaper (new) or much cheaper (used). If you need more bokeh, either the 35mm Tamron 1.4 or Canon 1.4mkII adapted are fast and pleasant (even when the Tamron is cheaper, the quality is the same (lens variations aside). However adapted lenses do not handle as well as native lenses on R-bodies (we have now 4) especially if they are large and heavy. the 35f2 seems to handle still well.
I prefer the RF 35mm. The Canon RF 35mm has better size, Macro, Stabilizer, STM for video and an extra ring for ISO and it is also sharp. Im very happy with that
@@Francisfphoto_ Yes it is. I am very happy with the change to RF 35mm 1.8 The sigma is good, very sharp, but it is heavy and large. The Canon has more features such as IS, Macro, lightness, size and is very fast and sharp. For video / photo it is great.
I own the EF one and it is absolutely fantastic! My night time photography choice! BC due to its wider angle and IS it actually overpowers my 50mm 1.4 (the fastest lens I own) in exposure... But in order to compare the subjects fairly... We should *invent RF-to-EF adapter and try the RF on FF DSLR* =) BC, as we know, e.g. EF lenses are sometimes worse on cropped bodies than on FF, so... there's a possibility of smth like that between EF and RF.
No internal focus is a big no no for tough environment and beachside. Try to shoot seashells close up for 2seconds and your RF lens barrel filled up with finest sands.
I am a Sony user flirting with a possible switch to Canon... RF lenses are out of my price range, except the lens in your review. That said, is it worth buying the EOS R (or RP) only to adapt EF glass? Otherwise would it be better to go with a DSLR body such as the 6D mark ii?
Plastiky lens sold without hood, not 77 filter size (other RF lenses) and "zooms" externally. Excelent picture quality / price / IS makes it good lens, but not great. Anyway, I love mine ...
Yes its great to see some RF glas under a 1000 bucks. STILL Canon needs to make a lot of steps. I mean look at the EOS R... What about two card slots, and IBS? The fact that this is missing is just ridiculous in my eyes. Always doing their own thing, and not looking at the user and competitors. And this is coming from a Canon user.
Listening to your point about the number o bodies that accept this lens, and the fact that they are not affordable, makes me wonder if an aps-c R is the way to go. I used to think it wasn't now I wonder.
@@Francisfphoto_ the sigma has probably much better image quality, but the rf35 is small, cheap and has IS. I changed my rf35 for an Sigma 50/1.4 art, which is huge but has perfect image quality but no IS. Probably going to buy the rf35 back if a cheap second hand comes along. On my EOS Rp it forms a nice small package.

RP all the way!
I love this lens so much. If canon but out a 50mm version of it I’d be even more excited.
I'm sorry , not because you are a youtuber I love to watch , I will not correct you .
Put not but .
Well now there is a new 50mm lense rf mount!
There is now a 50mm - not really sure how good it is tho.
@@markshirley01 there's no IS on the 50mm though :(
I have the 50mm and now wanting the 35mm for its wider FOV.
I bought this lens while I was half asleep before I got my Eos R by accident, and I’m SO glad that I did. It’s amazing!!
I’m gonna add “half-asleep lens purchase” to my personal goals!
Will this lens do well with the r6?
Picked up an EOS RP today with this lens! Been playing with it all night, haha. So good!
I enjoy your direct, no non-sense approach to your delivery. Keep it up.
I'm right on the edge of jumping on this lens. I think it will give me what I'm missing from my bag. The big selling one is the macro, also.
I’ve been so curious about this lens, but can’t find much good fo about it. Thank you for this!
Right! It’s a totally underrated RF lens!
Love your reviews. Awesome to see you in a bigger space now. But please set up some sound absorption or fabric panels to kill the reverb! Keep up great work man
perfect video you answered every question i had without a bunch of nonsense
It is so good... effortless. It reminded of how much fun this job really is!

I love that you actually weighed them on a scale. Did not see that coming. Awesome.
I need several more f/1.8 Canon RF lenses Please, 16,20,24,50 and 85 would be great and Yes I love this lens also! Good video.
20 would be perfect for vlogging
Thanks for sharing... awesome and snappy review. I like your presentation style!
Love your comparison ! Please do so for rf 35 vs sigma art 35mm f1.4 vs canon ef 35 f1.4 😊
Yes!
I have that lens on my EOS R, and for the price it's an excellent performer!
Superb review with great information! Thank-you :)!!

amazing video! cant wait for my 35mm rf
Thanks - Im getting a R6 - my first canon camera and the 35 and 50 f1.8 RF lenses will be my first lenses.
Finally, some affordable RF glass.
Now a day, 600 1.8f can be called affordable. SMH
Very well presented!
This lens is simply fabulous
witch is the best rf allrounder lens for the r6 for video?
Althouth I prefer and really love the EF f2 (it has real charecter) very good review.
Thanks for the review!!
Uses an Acaia lunar to weigh the lens, shoots coffee beans as subject for sharpness test. Theres gotta be some manual coffee brewing action bts
You sir are a detective!
Finally..... someone who speaks really good English for one of these reviews. Ahhhhh!!!!!! ( I Subscribed )

If your shooting in dim light.... you will need that 1.8
Thinking about something wide, would u recommend ef 35 mm 1.4 II? This would be also good for astrophotography, i think
Recently, I enjoyed using the 90mm ts-e 2.8 with the EOS R at a wedding. The mk i version of that 90mm

Don't worry. It is
@@woozyjoe4703 Is EF 35 mm 2.0 better?

Great review, thanks
Great review, just subscribed to your channel!
I do have the EF 35mm version which I'm currently using with my Canon EOS R. Is it worth upgrading to the RF version?
what about the focus speed? the 35 F2 is USM and RF35 is STM....
Hey man, I’m from Singapore too and was wondering where in the world did you get that Milky Way shot with so little light pollution 😱

Sergio Fortes why get the RF if you have a 1.4 Art just asking as I have been looking at both for me the up side is native mount

How do you think for 2 option len EF 85mm 1.8usm Vs RF 35mm 1.8 macro for canon RP ? Which one I should buy ?
Hello, do you understand correctly that the RF 35 is better than the F2 35 is usm ? Is it this ?
Story blocks seems to have sponsored most videos I watched in the last 2 days. They are doing well 😂

Wish they put weather sealing on it though.
How does it compare with the 35 1.4 EF?
The rendering of the image is different. Both are pretty good imo
Thanks, this is just what I was looking for! How if autofocus sound on RF? I own EF version and autofocus is noisy!
In photo mode it’s noisier than a USM but runs slower and quieter in video mode.
I've used both. Have you compared them shooting fast moving toddlers? You should add that aspect to your testing.
What did you conclude from that test lol?

I would expect the Canon lens to be more durable. After market lenses tend to be not as durable, historically.
Do you think Canon will bring out another EOS R MK II ?
R5/R6 ;)
The lens also fits my EOS 70D right?
Kais brother is doing well
kai doesnt have proper review LOL he does walk around and talk shit
Canon Should be out 24,50,85 mm f1.8 lenses immediately for their sake
Can you try to shoot a wedding ring for this lens?
Here’s to me the elephant in the room, ef lenses use actual glass in their elements and the nifty RF’s use plastic….correct?

F1.8 with IS , Great !!!
But only RF mount 😭
Honestly if this lens was weather sealed it could be considered an L lens
Isn’t that a Macro lens?
Not weather-sealed
