    btw the image stabilisation from the lenses they have IS, it's also applying in the photos we take or only for videos? Anyway if you're IS is ON than you lose picture quality, sharpness. am i right?

    Hi Justin, nice video as always...! Greetings from Jakarta.
    May I know your views as I want to switch my RF 35mm lens into Tamron 17-35mm F2.8-4, as I think the Tamron lens suit the focal length I need (from ultra wide to medium wide). By having the Tamron 17-35mm, I can skip the RF 16mm, also I wilk be able to sell my RF 35mm as no point having two lenses with 35mm FL.
    Other lens that I currently have is RF 85mm F/2.
    Pls share your thoughts! Thanks.

    • @JustinMyersPhoto

      I don’t have any experience with that specific Tamron lens. It depends on whether you prefer two separate prime lenses or the one zoom lens and if you will miss the larger aperture

    New subscriber, as you thoroughly explain things 👍 apologies for long clarification following…I have replaced my 80D with the Canon R and currently using my old EF lens Tokina 11-16 f2.8, efs 24 pancake & Sigma 70-200 2.8 APO. I’m a hiking adventure TH-camr now using GoPro 7 & iPhone 11 but am looking to improve cinematic & low light footage by using my Canon R. So, I require a light & compact lens to do hand held walk talk video, handheld & tripod campsite activity and bush scenes & gear photography hence looking at the rf 35mm (seems perfect except tight for walking talking footage, here my 16mm works ok with digital movie enabled though). Only want to carry one lens and GoPro for wet conditions so…what would your expert advise be please? 🙏

    • @JustinMyersPhoto
      @JustinMyersPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, the 35mm on the R will be very similar to what the 24mm looks like on the 80D. So if that wasn’t wide enough for you, the 35mm probably won’t be wide enough.
      I do think the RF 16mm is actually great for vlogging, just be aware of shakes, but when you’re shooting that wide, a little bit of shakiness isn’t as noticeable. The R doesn’t haven’t a sensor IBIS system, so the “wobbles” isn’t something to worry about for your setup

    I’ve been using an old EF 16-35 f/2.8L II on my EOS R. Yeah, the zoom is convenient, but the image quality isn’t all that great especially wide open. I’m tempted to ditch it and get these two bookends. A lot of advantages in that 35 prime, and the 16 looks good enough for when I need it.

    • @JustinMyersPhoto

    • @JustinMyersPhoto
      @JustinMyersPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely think the 16mm would be your best bet for vlogging. If you have a huge budget, the RF 14-35mm would probably be a great option as well, but the 16mm is going to be the best for the price range

    • @JustinMyersPhoto
      @JustinMyersPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WhatsUpWithB the sensor in the R10 would be pretty similar to the sensor in the M50 Mark II, so quality between the two cameras would probably be very similar.
      The potential advantage to the R10 would be having the ability to use RF lenses. The L series RF lenses are really great, but really expensive. So, if you’re not wanting to use those lenses, they’re probably isn’t much advantage of the R10 over the M50 Mark II

    • @JustinMyersPhoto
      @JustinMyersPhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, keep in mind that you won’t be able to use the full sensor on full frame mirrorless cameras with the 24mm lens because it is an EF-S lens.
      What camera are you shooting with?

    • @patflores2976
      @patflores2976 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Justin Myers Canon RP...its been kind of unclear for me how the efs lenses are affected by the adapter...

    • @JustinMyersPhoto
      @JustinMyersPhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@patflores2976 EF-S lenses are built for APS-C sensor cameras, which means the lens projects an image that is smaller than the size of a full frame camera like the RP.
      The adapter doesn’t affect the lens, per se, but because the lens doesn’t cover the entire sensor, the camera automatically switches to only using an APS-C sized portion of the sensor.
      With the RP, that means the photos are only going to be somewhere around 10 MP, because the lens only covers the pixels that are in the center portion of the sensor.
      When shooting video, the lens still only covers the center portion, so noise may be more prominent at higher ISO values. With the RP, you will also lose access to certain video modes when using EF-S lenses, like 1080 60p.

    I bought the 16mm as a pre-order, sight unseen. I love UWA photography, and for video it's very handy. But for photos I shoot this lens in jpeg only. When there is a correction profile available that will change, but I did a few RAW images and pulled my hair out trying to correct the corners. I love the lens anyway, but if I'm going to take serious wide (raw) photos my 17-40 f4 is always the one and it works like a (bigger) native lens. The shortcomings of this lens (16) are manageable, and will be less of a problem when the profile becomes available.
    I really like the 16, it really makes my RP easy to take along. I'm not going to rush out to buy the RF 35, but only because I already have the EF 35 f2. I will eventually get it for it's size advantages. What I really want is a 28mm at f2.0 or even f2.8. I currently adapt my ancient 28 f2.8 (no IS, the original lens version from the film days) but I would like it for the same size reasons.
    Thanks for a nice video!
