Some parts during the final fight feel unintentionally funny like when Laurie hits Michael in the head with a fire extinguisher. But in General while i don't love H20 like everyone else i still don't mind it. Because i like that they changed the setting from Haddonfield to a private school in california. And Jamie Lee Curtis does some good acting as well as an then unknown Michelle Williams. My worst Halloween movies are the Rob Zombie Remakes
The best one for me is just the first 2 films. I’ve always loved how they connect together. If they wanted to end it there, they definitely could have.

I love that you made separate timelines besides the main ones! One timeline I would create is Halloween 1,2; 4-6, and then Resurrection -- ignoring the Laurie content. Having the Laurieless prologue taking place at the asylum sometime after the end of Curse. And pretending that it's part of the Thorn timeline. I hope to one day actually edit the film around this concept and see how well it would work.
I also had a similar thought placing H20 in the Thorn timeline. There's many things that actually fit. Laurie didn't actually die in a car accident, she just faked her death. The only obstacle here is with her children Jamie and John, who seem to have been born around the same time. They could explain it by them being twins, but why would she give Jamie for adoption and take John with her?
@@HyperXero52 yes! You can totally make head canon work around it. Having John's line "don't talk to me about responsibility" meaning "you ditched my sister!" One other timeline that I use that includes 1-6 and H2O is that 4,5,6 are the dream Laurie wakes up from screaming in H20 😉
But it's not how timelines work though, if the movie is connect or apart of the same universe then it's part of the same timeline. Halloween only has 3 timelines not 10.

Halloween 78 to H20 is the definitive timeline of the franchise, i love how they perfectly bring close to Laurie's and Michael's story. The new timeline had so potential if they focused only on two movies from the start

@@07foxmulder I disagree as I have it ranked 4th, behind the original, Halloween 4 and Halloween 2018. I will say that the brother/sister angle was unnecessary, Dick Warlock needed improvement, and the whole school scene was a weird diversion. It has problems for sure, but it’s really a perfect ending, for Michael and Loomis, in a way. Still, 1978 works best as a one off.

I would love to see a Halloween fan film that continues Zombie’s story. Laurie puts on Michael’s mask and becomes the next killer. Michael shows up and they team up.
Whoa I've been privately calling it the Loomis trilogy for years too. Personal favorite for sure. But in my desperate attempts to purge the existence of Ends from my mind, I've found some decent appeal in having Kills as the closer of its own trilogy... Evil never really dies, Michael is home, Laurie pays the price with Karen's life for her obsession. Dark and mildly satisfying once the blue balls wear off.
I'm not sure why, because Loomis is in the whole Timeline up to H6. That if anything should be called the "Loomis Timeline" That being said, I do like the 1,2,4 Timeline. Ending with Jamie covered in blood and Loomis screaming is ballzy and fitting, even though they never intended it to end there.

@@whobitmyname Halloween 5 was one of the most dominant outings for Pleasance in the role. Outside of 2, I don't think there's another film in the series that he influences to such a degree. Halloween 4 was a great entry for Loomis, but he largely disappeared over the second half of the film. 5 made up for that, with a VENGEANCE.

Such a great ranking man, I’m watching all of them for the second time this week. Love going back and forth with my favorites lol I honestly love the OG H1, Halloween 4, and Ends.
For me either H1&2 or H1,2,H20 for me. I love the way you think and consider them, this is how me and my friends always considered the films and I'm glad to see more people doing it like that.
Personally my ideal timeline to the Halloween franchise begins with the 1978 original and ends after Halloween II. I have soft spots for The Return Of Michael Myers and love Halloween H20 as well as 2018 but it seems to be the most consistent timeline that makes the most logical sense for all of us fans of Michael Myers.
I've created my own timeline with some changes. It consists of the og Halloween, Halloween 2 with them still being siblings,Michael survives & is captured & Loomis doesn't survive. It continues with Halloween 2018 with Laurie having Jamie (played by Danielle Harris) as her daughter & Allyson as her granddaughter. Michael is told he now has a niece and a grandniece and breaks out. Kills still happens minus the other escaped patient side story. Michael kills Jamie at the end of Kills. Michael survives his beating but collapses & goes into a coma & is nursed by a hermit similar to Halloween 5. He then awakes in Ends when Allyson gives birth 4 years later. Ends happens with no Corey storyline instead it is with Michael going after Laurie,Allyson and her child. Laurie and Michael die together in the movie and Allyson is the sole survivor with her baby.
To me all the movies take place in one singular timeline. 1-8 events actually happened. Rob Zombies and Blumhouse Halloween movies are just movies. The way this works is after Halloween, Hollywood decided to make a movie based on those events and it explains it poppin up on TV in Halloween III: Season Of The Witch.
That's a pretty cool idea but it's Carpenters Halloween that was playing in Season of the Witch, not Zombies and/or Greens. But if you take Season of the Witch out then you could run with that I suppose.

Personally just off of nostalgia reasons the Thorne timeline is my favorite. I love Jamie Loyd more than Laurie strode personally and Danielle Harris performance is so good. At the end of the day no timeline is perfect and everyone has their preferences.
I have head canon where h20 takes place after 6. When i was a kid and h20 came out, i didnt realize it was a whole different timeline. So in my head Laurie gave jaime up for adoption to protect her and then faked her death. Michael found Jaime (the same way he found Laurie after escaping the asylum, he just knew it was her when he saw her), and then later found Laurie again somehow. Since Jaime was dead he had to go looking for her, and with loomis gone and the cult destroyed, he had time to look for her Though, i do pretend Ressurrection didnt happen. Because F that
Great job as always, Cody! You leave no stone unturned and, as a fan who never tires of the conversation, I so appreciate that! I agree with you wholeheartedly. If the OG Halloween 78 were the one and only, I'd be perfectly fine with that. But, as it stands, the trifecta of Halloween 78, Halloween II and H20 represent the best timeline in my opinion. I always try to work Halloween 4 into that timeline because, outside of Season of the Witch, those are my favorites. I try to tell myself that to explain Laurie's absence, she faked her own death and gave up her daughter to protect them both in H4. Then, maybe H20 could have continued the Laurie Strode saga but substituted a 17-year old Jamie for John's character. I feel that might have worked.
Purist timeline all the way for me. Just a random, unexplained mystery that leaves everything up to the imagination. The timelines ending with 4 and H2O are also solid. I just have some major issues with those sequels, especially H20. I wish they'd made it more dark, brooding, and atmospheric instead of going with the trendy late-90's teenage slasher vibe. That, and a much better Michael/mask. Now you're talkin'. It's be amazing you hit 100K subs on Halloween. I'm rooting for it!
Man I knew there were alot of timelines in this franchise but never really thought about some of the ones you went over. 1 2 and 4 as its own timeline awesome.
I'm a fan of most of the films and I'm even in the minority that really enjoyed ends. Having said that the best timeline in my opinion is just the first film by itself but if I want to include sequels the best timeline would have to be one two and four.
@Big K Movies and Games For me 1978’s 1 and 1981’s 2 (which was actually SUPPOSE to be the end of the Michael storyline) are how the timeline goes to me. H20 was decently good but my problem with that film is they don’t even explain how he survived his death in Halloween II in it. If only the fans had let John Carpenter do his plan to make more stand alone stories with the other sequels like with Season Of The Witch, then it would be a more kick ass franchise
Purist Timeline all the way for me. However, I can never get enough of Myers. Any Halloween movie we get is still fun for me, no matter how “bad” it may be.

What's great is that I, like you, actually recognize several more variations in the timeline than are officially recognized. H20 is my personal favorite.
My preferred timeline is Halloween and Halloween II. The three characters story ended in that film: ( Loomis' sacrifice, Michael's death, and Laurie had left to parts unknown ) Yes there's H20 and 4 that take place after Halloween II, and I love both of them but it felt really final in Halloween II with that hospital fire in 1981.
My definitive timeline is 78' and 81'. It's the most complete without there being too many plot holes made by the other sequels. And where Michael Myers SHOULD have ended. Just One bloody night that no one will ever forget. I'm ok with the sister thing because Michael seems particularly fascinated with Laurie more than the others in the 78' movie. H2 kinda explains that at the end and I'm ok with the relation. I could accept H1 being the only one if the whole anthology idea worked out. And H3 was instead the next installment after H1. But yea, H1 and H2 is my definitive timeline for Michael Myers.

I know some people complain that they made too many of these movies but I'm here for all of them. The Halloween franchise is a blast and there's just no way to replace an icon like Michael Myers. I'll gladly keep watching new movies and timelines (But I gotta say, I'm ready for Jason and Freddy to get their reboots)

Believe it or not, when I first got into the Halloween films, I didn't realise H20 was ignoring the Thorn Trilogy. I thought Laurie faked her death, left Jamie behind and had another kid 🤣 When you think about it though, Laurie has had 3 different kids in 3 different timelines. Just imagine them meeting each other in some kind of multiversal clash. We never got to see Jamie Lee Curtis and Danielle Harris together.
*Thank God Disney don't own the rights because you Just know they would make that multiverse canon. "Halloween: into the multiverse of Michael" or something stupid like that.
I feel like I used to think the same thing. I suppose there is an argument that could be made for that timeline existing, and thus the first eight films (minus Season of the Witch) are all in the same timeline.
The Loomis time line (H1, H2 and H4) is by far the best for me, but if i have to choose a 2nd timeline it's the H20 timeline (H1, H2, and H20) but the other movies which aren't in these 2 time lines i seen them all multiple times but just don't have much of an effect on me. Bonus fan timeline: H1, H2, H4, (H5 & H6 if you want), and H20 (H8 if you want) Takes some stretching, but not impossible to think Laurie faked her death and moved away, and it does add to the damage she has in H20. Also, people theorize the clown mask Myers originally had on while killing his sister was some proto-shamrock mask, so pehaps you can create a timeline that has H1 and H3, although I'd have to watch H3 again to see if there would be any glaring contradictions
I actually have my own specific timeline that is my own personal head cannon. My favorite version of the story is Essentially the h20 timeline but add H4 in there. The biggest problem with it is that it makes Laurie look like A terrible person for leaving Jamie loyd behind. Maybe just add some dialogue that says Laurie believes she wasn’t fit to be a parent yet, So she left Jamie behind. But she heard about what happened in H4 so that adds even more trauma and gilt And add a line saying mickles body was never found
Lol, I've done something similar and made in my head H1,H2,2018 my timeline, H2 did happen but was undisclosed to hide any questionable motives that Micheal went after Laurie specifically which could reveal the sibling connection and to hide the true terrors. The victims in H2 on record died from fire in hospital and Micheal was never there, Micheal survived burns and put in institution until 2018, explains damage to his face better being burns rather than the clothes hook in H1 which was unlikely to cause that damage to eye and around it, when Micheal mask came of in H1 his eye was closed but no bleeding,swelling nothing. The bullets to Micheal eyes at end of 2 may be difficult to get around, they was blanks, Loomis had two guns he did give Laurie the spare or bullets move went through face at angles not fatal which does happen.
I think 1, 2, 4, and H20 make a great timeline as well. I know the detectives at the beginning of H20 don't mention the events of 4 and only refer back to 1978's events, but that doesn't mean 4 didn't happen. There's enough there to connect 4 to H20. (Laurie mentioning she faked her death and the bloody scissors in the opening credits that Jamie used). I look at John as Laurie and Jimmy's son.

I think my favorite timeline is the Loomis/Family curse timeline. The more I think about it, the ending of 4 is a perfect ending for me. It captures pretty much everything I love about the Halloween franchise and leaves off with the idea that the evil spreads and never dies

I just can’t fathom why studios can’t produce a film that just sticks to Michael and building a very scary presence for him again. I honestly hate that most these reboots focus so heavily on Laurie w/ Michael. I don’t want that. I want a storyline where Michael is once again motiveless and just stalking random people and characters. Due to being stuck so hard to the original Laurie character the stories are doomed to fail because they don’t want to the sister connection. Please, I hope another reboot can just focus on Michael and let it become a Friday the 13th kinda story. Where Michael is just slashing random people and what Michael is, is slowly explained through the course of films. Like as of Halloween Kills eliminated most the mob aspect and Laurie. Instead focusing on a group learning about him going back home and learning about the window thing. The rest of the film is just highlighting Michael and making him terrifying again. No Laurie, no cringey writing, and no dumb characters.
Usually, I prefer thinking of H78 as a standalone. Some of the sequels are good (or even great). But the first one is so elegantly simple that you'll never make something that quite matches up. But I enjoy most of the sequels, honestly.
I agree with you on Ends I love Cory and that story of transferring evil to him thought that was cool it just felt out of place compered to kills and ends but I still can watch it and enjoy it 8/10 for me.

It has problems for sure, but it’s really a perfect ending, for Michael and Loomis, in a way.
Still, 1978 works best as a one off.

Whoa I've been privately calling it the Loomis trilogy for years too. Personal favorite for sure.
But in my desperate attempts to purge the existence of Ends from my mind, I've found some decent appeal in having Kills as the closer of its own trilogy... Evil never really dies, Michael is home, Laurie pays the price with Karen's life for her obsession. Dark and mildly satisfying once the blue balls wear off.
I'm not sure why, because Loomis is in the whole Timeline up to H6.
That if anything should be called the "Loomis Timeline"
That being said, I do like the 1,2,4 Timeline. Ending with Jamie covered in blood and Loomis screaming is ballzy and fitting, even though they never intended it to end there.

How about the Peak Loomis trilogy? From the first kid turning evil, full circle to the next kid turning evil. Very Greek tragedy imho.

@@whobitmyname Halloween 5 was one of the most dominant outings for Pleasance in the role. Outside of 2, I don't think there's another film in the series that he influences to such a degree. Halloween 4 was a great entry for Loomis, but he largely disappeared over the second half of the film. 5 made up for that, with a VENGEANCE.

Personally my ideal timeline to the Halloween franchise begins with the 1978 original and ends after Halloween II. I have soft spots for The Return Of Michael Myers and love Halloween H20 as well as 2018 but it seems to be the most consistent timeline that makes the most logical sense for all of us fans of Michael Myers.

Laurie also can’t be killed. Laurie fakes her death twice and she always comes back every time she’s killed. Laurie secretly survived Resurrection.
I've created my own timeline with some changes. It consists of the og Halloween, Halloween 2 with them still being siblings,Michael survives & is captured & Loomis doesn't survive. It continues with Halloween 2018 with Laurie having Jamie (played by Danielle Harris) as her daughter & Allyson as her granddaughter. Michael is told he now has a niece and a grandniece and breaks out. Kills still happens minus the other escaped patient side story. Michael kills Jamie at the end of Kills. Michael survives his beating but collapses & goes into a coma & is nursed by a hermit similar to Halloween 5. He then awakes in Ends when Allyson gives birth 4 years later. Ends happens with no Corey storyline instead it is with Michael going after Laurie,Allyson and her child. Laurie and Michael die together in the movie and Allyson is the sole survivor with her baby.
Watching Halloween 3 now , love it .
To me all the movies take place in one singular timeline.
1-8 events actually happened. Rob Zombies and Blumhouse Halloween movies are just movies.
The way this works is after Halloween, Hollywood decided to make a movie based on those events and it explains it poppin up on TV in Halloween III: Season Of The Witch.
That's a pretty cool idea but it's Carpenters Halloween that was playing in Season of the Witch, not Zombies and/or Greens. But if you take Season of the Witch out then you could run with that I suppose.

So glad I found your channel. I don't know why it's so fun watching you make lists and making points that almost 100% agree with all the time lol. But yes to H20 having the best ending in the franchise. Completely agree and I love looking at those 3 films as the definitive trilogy in the franchise.
Personally just off of nostalgia reasons the Thorne timeline is my favorite. I love Jamie Loyd more than Laurie strode personally and Danielle Harris performance is so good. At the end of the day no timeline is perfect and everyone has their preferences.
I have head canon where h20 takes place after 6. When i was a kid and h20 came out, i didnt realize it was a whole different timeline. So in my head Laurie gave jaime up for adoption to protect her and then faked her death. Michael found Jaime (the same way he found Laurie after escaping the asylum, he just knew it was her when he saw her), and then later found Laurie again somehow. Since Jaime was dead he had to go looking for her, and with loomis gone and the cult destroyed, he had time to look for her
Though, i do pretend Ressurrection didnt happen. Because F that

If the OG Halloween 78 were the one and only, I'd be perfectly fine with that. But, as it stands, the trifecta of Halloween 78, Halloween II and H20 represent the best timeline in my opinion. I always try to work Halloween 4 into that timeline because, outside of Season of the Witch, those are my favorites. I try to tell myself that to explain Laurie's absence, she faked her own death and gave up her daughter to protect them both in H4. Then, maybe H20 could have continued the Laurie Strode saga but substituted a 17-year old Jamie for John's character. I feel that might have worked.
New timeline is probably my favorite despite a lot of issues.

I prefer the purist timeline but I do enjoy the choose your own adventure aspect of the franchise, it adds a level of fun.
Purist timeline all the way for me. Just a random, unexplained mystery that leaves everything up to the imagination.
The timelines ending with 4 and H2O are also solid. I just have some major issues with those sequels, especially H20. I wish they'd made it more dark, brooding, and atmospheric instead of going with the trendy late-90's teenage slasher vibe. That, and a much better Michael/mask. Now you're talkin'.

Man I knew there were alot of timelines in this franchise but never really thought about some of the ones you went over. 1 2 and 4 as its own timeline awesome.
I'm a fan of most of the films and I'm even in the minority that really enjoyed ends. Having said that the best timeline in my opinion is just the first film by itself but if I want to include sequels the best timeline would have to be one two and four.

@Big K Movies and Games For me 1978’s 1 and 1981’s 2 (which was actually SUPPOSE to be the end of the Michael storyline) are how the timeline goes to me. H20 was decently good but my problem with that film is they don’t even explain how he survived his death in Halloween II in it. If only the fans had let John Carpenter do his plan to make more stand alone stories with the other sequels like with Season Of The Witch, then it would be a more kick ass franchise

Yes there's H20 and 4 that take place after Halloween II, and I love both of them but it felt really final in Halloween II with that hospital fire in 1981.

My definitive timeline is 78' and 81'.
It's the most complete without there being too many plot holes made by the other sequels. And where Michael Myers SHOULD have ended. Just One bloody night that no one will ever forget.
I'm ok with the sister thing because Michael seems particularly fascinated with Laurie more than the others in the 78' movie.
H2 kinda explains that at the end and I'm ok with the relation.
I could accept H1 being the only one if the whole anthology idea worked out. And H3 was instead the next installment after H1.
But yea, H1 and H2 is my definitive timeline for Michael Myers.

Looking at kills and ends as what if stories is an interesting way of looking at it.
I know some people complain that they made too many of these movies but I'm here for all of them. The Halloween franchise is a blast and there's just no way to replace an icon like Michael Myers. I'll gladly keep watching new movies and timelines (But I gotta say, I'm ready for Jason and Freddy to get their reboots)

I feel like I used to think the same thing. I suppose there is an argument that could be made for that timeline existing, and thus the first eight films (minus Season of the Witch) are all in the same timeline.
The Loomis time line (H1, H2 and H4) is by far the best for me, but if i have to choose a 2nd timeline it's the H20 timeline (H1, H2, and H20) but the other movies which aren't in these 2 time lines i seen them all multiple times but just don't have much of an effect on me.

Takes some stretching, but not impossible to think Laurie faked her death and moved away, and it does add to the damage she has in H20.
Also, people theorize the clown mask Myers originally had on while killing his sister was some proto-shamrock mask, so pehaps you can create a timeline that has H1 and H3, although I'd have to watch H3 again to see if there would be any glaring contradictions
H1 is a movie in H3. It's playing on a tv a few times throughout. That's the only issue with this theory

I actually have my own specific timeline that is my own personal head cannon. My favorite version of the story is Essentially the h20 timeline but add H4 in there. The biggest problem with it is that it makes Laurie look like A terrible person for leaving Jamie loyd behind. Maybe just add some dialogue that says Laurie believes she wasn’t fit to be a parent yet, So she left Jamie behind. But she heard about what happened in H4 so that adds even more trauma and gilt And add a line saying mickles body was never found
Lol, I've done something similar and made in my head H1,H2,2018 my timeline, H2 did happen but was undisclosed to hide any questionable motives that Micheal went after Laurie specifically which could reveal the sibling connection and to hide the true terrors. The victims in H2 on record died from fire in hospital and Micheal was never there, Micheal survived burns and put in institution until 2018, explains damage to his face better being burns rather than the clothes hook in H1 which was unlikely to cause that damage to eye and around it, when Micheal mask came of in H1 his eye was closed but no bleeding,swelling nothing. The bullets to Micheal eyes at end of 2 may be difficult to get around, they was blanks, Loomis had two guns he did give Laurie the spare or bullets move went through face at angles not fatal which does happen.
I think 1, 2, 4, and H20 make a great timeline as well. I know the detectives at the beginning of H20 don't mention the events of 4 and only refer back to 1978's events, but that doesn't mean 4 didn't happen. There's enough there to connect 4 to H20. (Laurie mentioning she faked her death and the bloody scissors in the opening credits that Jamie used). I look at John as Laurie and Jimmy's son.
My most favorite time-line is the thorn one just cuz it's most satisfying. That's what I love about origin stories.

I think my favorite timeline is the Loomis/Family curse timeline. The more I think about it, the ending of 4 is a perfect ending for me. It captures pretty much everything I love about the Halloween franchise and leaves off with the idea that the evil spreads and never dies

I just can’t fathom why studios can’t produce a film that just sticks to Michael and building a very scary presence for him again. I honestly hate that most these reboots focus so heavily on Laurie w/ Michael. I don’t want that. I want a storyline where Michael is once again motiveless and just stalking random people and characters. Due to being stuck so hard to the original Laurie character the stories are doomed to fail because they don’t want to the sister connection. Please, I hope another reboot can just focus on Michael and let it become a Friday the 13th kinda story. Where Michael is just slashing random people and what Michael is, is slowly explained through the course of films. Like as of Halloween Kills eliminated most the mob aspect and Laurie. Instead focusing on a group learning about him going back home and learning about the window thing. The rest of the film is just highlighting Michael and making him terrifying again. No Laurie, no cringey writing, and no dumb characters.

Usually, I prefer thinking of H78 as a standalone. Some of the sequels are good (or even great). But the first one is so elegantly simple that you'll never make something that quite matches up. But I enjoy most of the sequels, honestly.

I agree with you on Ends I love Cory and that story of transferring evil to him thought that was cool it just felt out of place compered to kills and ends but I still can watch it and enjoy it 8/10 for me.
