I love this in recent years the Simpsons normally just make the actor play themselves in an episode but they actually wrote a brand new character for Benedict Cumberbatch to play and sing we NEED MORE OF THIS!!!
Somehow I doubt Morrissey would have agreed to do the voice. Of course, if he did, he probably would have canceled at the last minute.

Although the bass line is a bit more New Order than The Smiths, I love Jermaine Clements work on this song. Just a fun episode. As a lifelong fan of The Smiths. I love Quilloughby.

I think they're getting Quilloughby's music mixed with New Order's. The bass sounds pretty much like Peter Hook starting at 1:13.
If Moz REALLY wanted to get clap back at his critics and show a sense-of-humour, he’d cover this song at one of his concerts. Knowing him, he’d turn it into a charting hit.
Alas, there are limits to Morrissey's humour. He is good at dishing the witticisms out, but terrible at taking them. He reacted to the episode like a small child and LEARNT NOTHING.

The guitar solo reminds me more of Joy Division/New Order, rather than Johnny Marr, more an homage to Manchester than just Morrissey

I love The Smiths since I was a kid and I must say that I also like this and take it with humour. Maybe it's too over the top about the old Moz but thanks to this many people will start listening to The Smiths

As a Smiths fan, I loved this! Haven't seen the episode, but to be fair to Morrissey, it was his portrayal in the whole episode he didn't like. The parody song itself, I think he'd probably like as his songs are generally tongue-in-cheek.
