Again, it’s a fantastic, flagship instrument released during November 1997, and yes, I owned one of these mean machines years ago. It’s the first in the range to have on board the sweet saxophone and other new stunning sounds back then.
I had the PSR-8000. It's not a stripped down PSR-9000. The 9000 is the successor of the 8000 and the Tyros is the succesor of the 9000 . The soundset is not just basic XG, because the 8000 has many more megabytes of samples than the standard 4Mb XG soundset. It's a very versatile tool for basic studio productions.
I own a Tyros 3 with all the styles of the PSR 8000 in it, but I keep this instrument because I can't get rid of it.... I've loved this instrument ever since I bought it new.....
@@gearfacts Hi. I'm interested in buying A Yamaha PSR-8000 (based on this demo it sounds very good) but they seem as rare as hen's teeth. Do you know of a keyboard that's similar sounding to this one?? I read a rumor that these sounds are included in later Yamaha PSR models. Do you know which ones? Thanks in advance.
I have this keyboard, I've had it for over 12 years now and I still love it so much, but it needs a new contact strip. Please can you tell me where I can get one.
Itls still a workhorse. Love those good old powerfull sounbds. I beleive most of these samples were later imported into the psr E series. I Enjoyed the video.
I have had the PSR-8000 for many years and now I have a problem with the Disc Drive, it does not read, can this disc be repaired or should I replace this disc? Thank you for your help.
yeah, remember your sampling to a disc so it takes a while to save & load. have you inserted the batteries so the keyboard will save your settings when you switch off?
Yep, basically. The 8000 has a few extra editing options but it's all loosely based on the Yamaha XG sound set which was a new thing around the time the 8000 was released. Old new now :)
PSR-4000 is another name for the PSR-7000 released at the same time (1995) like E Series and their YPT brothers. 8000 is the sucessor of the 7000/4000 launched in 1997 so there will be a little missing.
I think the seller will be asking much more than that, 50 quid sounds like immense lowballing to me... I'd be surprised if they wanted less than 200 but hey if they are only asking 50 then go for it
Can you record the arrangement on a USB flash drive in MIDI format thanks to your keys and send to me? These keys have this auto arrangement like: Slow Ballad, 16-Ballad 1, 16-Ballad 2. Could you record these styles on your chords? Each of the arrangements would have to be 3 minutes long. I have no money for such keyboards, and I hope music is your passion.
Lets not forget how great sounding this DSP Guitars are and even way back in 1997
Agreed.
Just scored one for $100.00 including shipping. It’s a killer board!
I doubt

Excellent arpeggios as well as everything else.
Yamaha PSR 8000 in great shape. I own one of these.
i just got the one my uncle played on. its a whole new world for me. youre my instructor now :)
Woah, I hope the videos are helpful (to some extent) :)

Versatile indeed. Video #2 is very close to completion :) #gearfacts
So if I use this PSR 8000 play the midi it will sound really real?
Completely agree with you. I have a PSR-730 and its sounds are vert good, but PSR 8000 is much better. PSR-730 has 6 MB wave ROM, PSR-8000 has 12 MB!
Why sound drum style so compressed? Did You use external master comressor and EQ?
I think I did... always a mistake with TH-cam videos :(
I own a Tyros 3 with all the styles of the PSR 8000 in it, but I keep this instrument because I can't get rid of it.... I've loved this instrument ever since I bought it new.....
It is indeed very easy to love :)

I would check out the PSR 9000

I had it's successor the psr9000 v3. Added a cf2ide adapter instead of a spinning HD and upped the ram to 32mb was brilliant for sampling.
I wouldn't mind finding a suitable hard drive for this one actually
What is the unofficial hard drive limit? 2GB? Is it FAT16 or 32?
Again, an awesome instrument know, I’ve sold mine a few years ago, and had a few different models since, including Tyros, Genos and others.

It can be upgraded to a USB drive, I think you can get kits to do it online.
@@gearfacts You have to replace it, but first do a backup.
Sounds monstrous!
very 90's sounds. New video almost complete, uploading soon :) #gearfacts
I have one of these heavy beasts, I use it for sampling, underrated
Can't wait to start sampling on it. The effects system seems pretty impressive too :) GF
yeah, remember your sampling to a disc so it takes a while to save & load. have you inserted the batteries so the keyboard will save your settings when you switch off?
It's possible to sample?
Yes, it does 16bit sampling
@@barrypethers9439 but just sample over the keyboard or some more complex stuff?
Que máquina linda !! Não conhecia esse modelo. Lindos timbres, achava que o melhor era o YAMAHA PSR 2100. Obrigado #gearfacts !!
Estou muito feliz que você tenha gostado do vídeo!
Sounds amazing! Remember me to a new yamaha psr s 670 on lay out?
Yes! :) #gearfacts
And now we can enjoy these same sounds in a PSR-E series
Yep, basically. The 8000 has a few extra editing options but it's all loosely based on the Yamaha XG sound set which was a new thing around the time the 8000 was released. Old new now :)
Electronica producer's paradise keyboard
Yep, absolutely. It is totally steeped in those 90's sounds :) #gearfacts
there was a 9000 on craigslist, but it was just too high for me. looks to be a portable version of the clavinova series of digital pianos.
I need to find out hat the specific difference is from the 8000...
Now that, i'm not sure of... the look very similar, maybe its the number of sounds?
Hi buddy where would I get my hands on one of these I live in Perth
Still looking mate?
Nahh all good now man👍👍
That lead guitar is Sick!!! I bet it sounds nice in person. The video doesn't do it justice. How do the synth leads sound?
It does indeed sound nice in person, the speakers have an enormous sound :) #gearfacts
I'm able to get the PSR 4000 for 30euros! Does that have the same sounds?
I'm not sure but that's a BARGAIN and you should waste not time - get it!
@@gearfacts done 💪💪💪 it has some pretty bad cracks and broken off plastic in the body but all the software is intact!

This should have been an 88-key model with semi weighted diving board keys
Yep. I note that the keys are nicer to play than the recent PSR-E models though, which is interesting :) #gearfacts
this keyboard PSR 8000 is superior than yamaha PSR SX600 in quality sounds?
I haven't tried the SX600 but I think it would be better.
Can somebody tell me the price of this keyboard
Not sure, I'd check ebay's completed listings
Guys I've the opportunity to get one of these, how much should I pay. Is £50 fair?
I think the seller will be asking much more than that, 50 quid sounds like immense lowballing to me... I'd be surprised if they wanted less than 200 but hey if they are only asking 50 then go for it
@@gearfacts thanks
I want that keyboard
Good
Where are u getting all these goodies ahaha, I'm so jealous 😂
Lots and LOTS of online searching ....seriously, hours :) #gearfacts

Hi there, I don't have this keyboard anymore sorry
@@gearfacts ahh...ok...no problem.
@@gearfacts But maybe You have different keyboard? With similiar styles?
Make psr9000 rewiev
I hope to find a PSR-9000 one day :) #gearfacts
It's basically a pre tyros....
An AWESOME mean machine. I proudly owned years ago.
Yep it's a strong machine alright. Video #2 with sampling and synthing coming soon :) #gearfacts
