the precursor to pay attention re industry support for Fargeat/Substance is the European Film Awards. That film is eligible there. A lot of British + international members vote there and they have become a solid precursor, telling us many "surprising" nominations, especially in the directing category these last few years.
NickelBoys: Said the same thing for Zone of Interest and i feel that was top tier of last year. My #2 behind Poor Things. It'll get 5 nominations. The Substance: I Adored it, i watch body horror, not a fan but man, this film could move and Agreed Such a complete and succinct vision. Please Directing nomination even over Demi for Actress. 3 to 4 nominations Please!!!
I think Zone of Interest is the max (five nominations) and Women Talking is the best-case floor (two nominations). I'd bet three right now at the Oscars: Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography.
@@dacrimsoncurse True, CODA and Green Book are definitely terrible in the way they portray stereotypes but so is Emilia Pérez and the Academy is making smarter choices.
@@chrisjrosen it is much finnier than I thought it would be, but at the end of the day, it's a drama. Definitely a tear-jerker. However, it's also my favorite movie of the year.
We all know Chris loves anti-dicting, well see how totally wrong he is about Felicity Jones at a later date. Felicity is an absolute lock for a nomination, she's the emotional core of the strongest contender in the race.

I can never tell if you guys actually like each other. The chemistry sometimes just feels so disconnected.
I think Chris was a little put out that Joyce clearly didn't do her homework before the taping.
Foxfire in general is one of my favorites, top 5 actually. 1996. Go Angelina!
The Substance is totally a comedy
Fernanda Montenegro for I’m Still Here. My Brazilian heart 🩶🇧🇷🥹
You guys should watch Those Who Wish Me Dead led by Angelina Jolie. It was a good performance from her.
Emilia Perez for Awards Season!!!
NOPE! The Brutalist for Awards Season!!! Emilia Pérez will definitely get goose egged.
@@JoshFriedman786 you must be new, cause imagine only one film competing for awards season
@@dacrimsoncurse Yeah but Emilia Pérez is not the type of movie that wins awards it might be nominated but it definitely won't win.
@@JoshFriedman786 yea cause coda and green book with their lifetime original ass quality were winner worthy

Challengers could have its moment at Golden Globes. I think it gets comedy picture and comedy actress (but not supporting actor).
emilia perez domination!!!!!!
Um... NO, more like The Brutalist domination!!!
@@JoshFriedman786 i didnt ask u
@@rxre7922 Don't care, just breaking the truth to you. I've seen Emilia Pérez and it's not very good will likely get skunked.
@@JoshFriedman786i saw it at tiff and just because you have see it doesnt mean that everyone is gonna agree with your opinion lol
Even if Joker sucks Gaga did a good job she DESERVES a place there 😢
And Fernanda Torres for best actress in drama?
Sorry, but The Wild Robot is NOT A COMEDY!!!!!!! It is a DRAMA!!!!
I think... that's maybe right? It is funny, however.
