so glad to hear that! I feel like little tricks and tips come out regardless of the type of video I'm making and I want to be more consistent on YT this year. I think this style of content is easy for me to make while giving away some useful tips.
This is awesome! I've been looking for a tutorial on how to program drums to riffs like these. And this video helps a lot! Sick riff! Cool production! Very informative! Thank you, man! 😁
Thank you for checking it out! And I forgot to mention but always check the phase by flipping it or delaying the signal. I find I rarely need to mess with the phase but occasionally I do
I felt you on them claps near the end! Bouncy Nu-metal and I'm ready to jump into a mad pit. I've been wanting to create my own metal style of music for a long time coming and I haven't been wanting to use any other DAW besides ableton considering I'm doing most of my production learning on there. Watching your videos as of late has made me so much more pumped to make my own breakdowns and all that good jazz.. I mean metal. Going to check out your drum VST videos now bc I do not know which would be good just starting out with creating. Sorry for the long message here Brendon yet we met WAYYYY back in 2019 during the NeonAlien tour. Just wanting to say hi on that regard and thank you for being you :)
Eh thanks so much my man! I appreciate the kind words. And for getting started , ML sound Lab has a free drum kit that’s decent. You just can’t route out And by far I think Ableton is the Best DAW for any style of writing
@@BrendonKPadjasek I feel that no route out is fine for now considering I'm new to drum VST. I'm so used to drawing them yet seeing the drums helps me more than drawing. I can picture myself behind that kit and write from there. Yet with guitar and bass it's different. Thank you for the heads up!! I'll check them out for sure c: More kind words for ya since I have you for a sec. Glad you're doing yt and keeping musically busy. I was a little worried after hearing why you stopped touring. Yet meeting you told me that's not the end. Structures came back and BOOM. I was ecstatic!! Anyways, Brendon. Have a wonderful day and I'll be using that lofi VST too, that one is actually quite dope and simple Edit: I totally agree! Ableton seems like a final boss for beginners in music production yet as a beginner, I have to say.. far better than FL studio, Reaper and all the others I've either tinkered with along with friends or have owned myself finding the right DAW. Ableton is such a worthy investment overall considering the range it has now. Much more versatile than it was literally 5 years ago
@christopherlane6372 oh yeah I actually do some work for Wave Alchemy when it comes to presets and sample packs. I’m stress testing my sample pack now and there’s about 150 more samples I want to add before I’m happy sending them out to the world And definitely hear that. ML is a great free place to start. I believe Krihm ( I hope I spelt that right) has a free kit as well
@@BrendonKPadjasek you got this Brendon! I'm curious to hear what you put out into the wavs. Noted. I'll check em out too while I'm at it!! Thank you so much Brendon!! I truly appreciate your kindness today c: last thing, I've been spinning Gone / Dead lately. Wordplay siccckkk🔥🔥
I haven’t heard of that but that’s cool! Yeah claps are on 95% of mixes that I do for bands / artists and for myself. For breakdowns and choruses it’s a no brainer
@@BrendonKPadjasek I watch the beginning a second time : I am at the beginning of the journey with drums and drums programming. So nothing is obvious to me. The first time I quickly lost focus. I think it was hard for me to represent and feel each part of the drum because the sound isn't quite synchronized with the image. I might watch the whole video again, but I will need to reproduce both the guitare and the programming to really understand. Might be a good practice though. Surely better than just watching the video, but I will need time :)
Do you ever use one of those little keyboards or midi pads to input drums? I feel like it would be easier to write drums with i always have a hard time trying to use the mouse
I always find the latency kills the writing experience for me. I’m really susceptible to latency and if I hear the slightest amount I’m taken out of the creative experience. I’ve gotten really quick with writing drums to the point where it’s much quicker than having to play an entire 15 second part through. Probably takes me about 33% of the time to program it as it would to perform it. That’s just me though
@BrendonKPadjasek thanks! I really enjoy these drum writing videos. I know youv done a couple of them but i hope you do more of them cause writing midi drums is something i really struggle with
@Durkhead I’m so glad to hear that. I was saying in another comment these videos are relative easy for me to make and since I want to be more consistent with TH-cam this year I think there will be a lot more of these
I know. I bought it when it was on the initial release price and I HATE the company lmao. They kept sending emails after I bought it, I unsubscribed to their email list cause it was soooo annoying. A few months later I started getting them again
Oh yeah, unison audio sucks lmao. If you're looking for a good multifx plugin, you'll probably be better off with Infiltrator 2. Way more powerful, lots of good presets covering nearly every use case, unsubscribing from their email list actually works...
@ I know what you meant with the title. I was just being funny. I’m also a retired touring bass player who now writes and plays guitar, all baritones and lab towards heavy groovy. So I love your channel and it’s helped me a lot with toning things and looking at parts in a different way. Thank you. I hope do you get more active on TH-cam this year. 🖤
@DiamondLifer haha I figured you were joking but I just had to cover my grounds in case haha. I plan on it for sure. If there’s anything you’d like covered lmk
@@BrendonKPadjasek maybe your process on stringing parts together to make a cohesive song. I’m good at writing killer parts and can run through a full song in my head but then sometimes I’ve trouble getting it on paper. Partially because I’m still learning writing midi drums and by the time I get one part down I sometimes get stuck on where to take it from there.
Thanks for watching!

You made that riff extremely groovy, buster's drums are also crazy good holy-
Hey thank you so much! It’s so important to nail the drums. IMO they are more important than guitars, coming from a guitarist first haha
@BrendonKPadjasek you're welcome ! Honestly, making music myself, I noticed how much they serve the energy, so I agree
Oh yeah all the instruments work together to create what you hear. When I started to realize that, my songwriting and mixes started to come together
I always learn something from your vids. Thanks Bren!

absolutely stellar songwriting lesson from you here brendon

Thank you so much my friend! Appreciate you watching it
As always: Super helpful tips&tricks! thumbs up!
Thanks for checking this one out as well!
Simple riff or not, I always love the tone you have. Its heavy AF.
Great video brother. Very helpful tips.
Eh thank you so much! Glad the years of sucking at it has paid off to now get the tones haha
Killer video! 👊
Thank you so much! I enjoy doing these videos as it seems a lot of guitar players struggle with drum programming

Haha thank you. I just put up a video before this one about how I get this tone
@BrendonKPadjasek sweet! I'll check it out
@godwynobriendrums thanks!
livestreams would be a lot of fun! live return of the 1 hour songs?? :o

Great tips, and sounds great. Is everyone tuning to Low E now? I finally got down to A Standard, and it doesn't sound low enough now!
Thank you! I’ve been in Drop A0 for a bout a year now haha. So an octave lower than where you’re at, but I’m using a 30” Bass VI
Simple groovy riff makes man happy 🦍
Hahaha love the emoji use too
Can we get a structures EP production breakdown 🤔😎
There’s not really all that much too it but I could possible take a look in there
Very interesting. I am new to drum programming, this is already a bit too complex for me.
I have a beginners programming video as well. Which parts became too complex?

Absolutely. Is it actually one of their riffs? Definitely sounded numetal to me haha
