I had the privilege to have driven this model just last week. I'm not an EV fan but it answered all my doubts about it. Yes, it is a beautiful car, it's the kind that grows on you. I know I won't be able to own one because of the hefty price that goes w/ it. But if they have the budget and great mktg team, i'm pretty sure they can be tough to beat ev in the philippines.
I would prefer this Hongqi 9 over the Rolls Royce Ghost or Phantom and my take is that at least Hongqi is build by 1 Company with everything done in house and is totally control by Hongqi Automotive so it is the original just like having a Rolex. Where the Rolls Royce well is abit like buying a Car from BMW 7 series where most of the main parts and engine comes from BMW in Germany and then its put together in England like legos and all the fancy parts slamed on it with a RR badge name on it.But Hongqi is like the Original RR when it used to be all made in house and not parts from others cars like RR is doing now.In the next few years this model with right up their in the west as a Status symbol of Luxury.
Why are so there so many sarcastic comments? don't forget the chinese auto industry is at least 20 years old !!! and over these 20 giant steps in growth in comparable to anyone ! at one time they laughed and slandered koreans in the same way, what the chinese only earlier in short times ! unlike systematic PROMISES and "Care" saving up budgets, they do and do a lot make mistakes , learn, copy, the best and have already begun to shape their own image , there own engineering ! another 5 years will pass and all other " CRAP " brands will catch up in quality and reliability ! they already begun to widely produce galvanized bodies albeit not completely ( except for the roof ) but still ! it is enough to compare. the " Concern " auto basin ( and other ) subsidized from the budget on an ongoing basis with a rich history and great age...what are the results and achievements, greatness, quality, reliability independence.. self sufficiency? A ! that's it ..
In China, it is essential to make products that are available to everyone without compromising the stats and party`s integrity for charging social prestige or making people look more than the other just because they are rich. Of course, I am 100% sure that not all Chinese can buy this car no matter what. But seeing how ordinary people travel to Hungary for example for vacation, ordinary factory workers, and seeing how the Hungarian people cannot be offered to go to vacation anywhere in their own country even though they work their asses off in usually western owned and Korean companies. They are doing a lot better than for example the Hungarian people are doing these days.
First of all great review and i really enjoy how well put in words the praise is always for engineering since as an engineer it is highly admirable :). Also, one request please target more international audience with English since many of us in west are not fortunate enough to perceive any coverage on them due to China effect. In the end, I have one question regarding Sale, Service and Spare parts after warranty period ? So for example ternary lithium battery wont' last forever so what will happen as for example Tesla has not built up a great post warranty coverage system as well to supply battery fixes and complete packs with other parts to third party. I am purely interested in buying it and keeping it post warranty period so any wisdom on that topic is welcomed :). Thanks again for such an amazing content to watch
Beautiful. My only reservation (aside from the price, around the same as a Volvo XC90) is that it's Chinese, I'm reminded of the early days of Kia/Hyundai when the cars looked nice (1st gen Starex was really pretty for its time, even the Ssangyong MB van, the Musso, etc) but had tons of problems
Your comment is fair. When you looked back, Kia/Hyundai didn’t hve foreign automotive industry at all & they did trial & error. But in China, they hve Mercedes, BMWs & more manufacturers there & importantly technology transfer. So they do trial & process less. Unless they try to adopt useless American cars like Jeep. I used to own Jeep & found it a lemon. Glad they hve gone insolvent.
If I can afford to buy this car, I'm sure this won't be my only car. I should still have a non-Chinese car in my garage which maybe my daily drive, my workhorse so to speak. So this Hongqi I will mainly use for special occasions, to showoff to other people maybe. Given that this is an EV, I can't say it's as reliable as ICE.
i kinda like this car, but I heard the Operating system is clunky compared to let's say Tesla? (slow, laggy, and some bad translated parts) Is this true? Also, isn't the car energy thirsty? Efficiency is weaker than other EV cars like Tesla for example?
Totally wrong. I had the vehicle for 5 days … everything you mentioned is not true. Your last statement .. syempre mas mabigat ito compared to the tesla.. walang gsnitong size na vehicle and tesla. Little advice lang po.. always look at weight and size when comparing.. para you can make educated statements and assumptions.

I think vehicles should have minimum technology to be reliable and easily maintainable and even to be safe . Thats why these cars "look" good only on paper . Most of the world doesn't want machines that have too many points of failure that it becomes impossible to maintain in the long run . Same goes for teslas . they will be just junk in a few years and vehicles that are low tech will keep taking you from point A to B .

I live near Tagatay. Had several Jaquar XLS before. As we had last week 2 days brownout and as we all know its a regular event, how could i buy an electric car like this, which uses tons of electric power.....Secondly, after 5 years the value of this car will be PS 700.000 seems not very smart finamcial strategy.------ Third, all this software has to be updated from China later....realy?......Fourth it shows that espcially chinese cars are easy to start burning as the safety is not regulated in China.
