Yeah the most basic translator will do a better job ususally! But they can fix it with a software update which they will most likely do after they have seen this video ;-)
@@johnair1 u think they’ll fix the shitty autopark to? Way too slow to actually be practical. Go watch the new autopark tesla has, thats actually a well made system. and it doesn’t hit things, ONLY using cameras too. No lidar uss or whatever
On the tesla they don't even stick out, its just the nature of ppl. not knowing how to drive with expensive rims... Basic rule, always park backwards. That 5-10s extra time can save allot of frustration. Even my mum never scratched the performance tesla rims with following this basic rule and before the rims on her old car was shattered in pieces :D
@@kenion2166We bought a Model Y last year, and the factory rims definitely stick out farther than the rubber, to the point that it looks a little weird. Mistakes happen, and when they do the rubber should hit the curb first, not the rim.
Please let us know how it went after telling the people from Hongqi about what happened. I'm curious, because as a Hongqi employee, I would be super embarrassed to let you pay for it, although they know that their autopark feature sucks.
They should see it as a fault from the car hopefully, a real world scenario. You were very careful as the video would proof. I Hope it's wouldn't cost you so much if they make you pay. Thanks for the video as usual.
They could maybe ask for a token amount - say €50 - something that everyone can see does not represent the full price of the rim. With everything being on TH-cam like this, it puts the Hongqi people in a bit of a difficult legal position. If they let you off entirely, they might be setting a legal precedent.
You should not pay for that rim damage. You have the video proof that the car did it. If the car can't do auto parking without curbing the wheels. it should not be released! this should be under warranty!
It did remind him to pay attention to his surroundings, though. This highlights a general issue with autonomous assistants in vehicles: who is responsible for accidents? Tesla's FSD can operate autonomously. Who is accountable if it causes a fatal accident? What happens if the HDA in my Ioniq steers me off the road and totals the car - and possibly myself? I don't know the correct answer, but it's an issue that needs to be addressed and tested in court sooner rather than later.
@@flipperdk123 As I said I'm another reply, I think they should make a token charge (€50?). This would maintain the principle of driver responsibility without imposing the real, probably very high, cost of one of those rims.
@@flipperdk123 Since the Tesla system only is level 2 or -2.5 [2.5 doesn't actually exist, I thought I read about it though]- at max the driver still is fully responsible at all times. To my knowledge, only at level 3, the driver can stay back for some time where the car is liable.
@@cobhamlondon Well, the aluminum rims look much nicer, but the steel + hubcaps are more practical, give a better ride and they add 30km to the range. I keep the original ones to install them when I sell the vehicle 😉
At 3:36 you can see the parking spot is smaller than the red outline. This may be why it didn't find a park in spot. The handicap spots were wide but not deep enough for it to turn green. Parallel parking may have been programed for a tighter spot because you won't have other cars parked to the sides, just front and back.
I would score this 1/10 because if the car damages itself then you're never going to trust it enough to use the system and also the translations are comically rudimentary as though they used some Chinese alternative to Google translate
The ten-year-old parking software on my BMW i3 occasionally makes mistakes like this. I still use it though, because I don't care too much about my rims, it's actually fairly quick, and it once stopped for a pedestrian that I hadn't seen. As to who pays for the rim, what with the incident being on TH-cam (and witnessed by Isobel!), this becomes quite a tricky question. I think they might need to make a token charge (€1, €10, €50..?). If they don't, they run the risk of compromising the principle of legally keeping the driver responsible. With a bit of luck, the video could attract enough views that you won't have to care about the cost. The parking feature should also be withdrawn until they can get it working better. (It should only get 2/10.. That would leave 1/10 reserved for colliding with another car or pedestrian, or a sudden burst of dangerous speed.)
10:33 "let's hope I dont get any curb rash" 🤦🏻♂️ I think you jinxed it man. Not your fault at all though, that parking system was terrible in all aspects
My 2019 V-Class auto parking could do better, but was also incapable of blinking on its own. Or maybe this is due to fact that turn lights are not standard equipment in Mercedes cars, and nobody pays extra for that stuff. That would also explain why they never blink when they want to overtake you 😂
I think only 1. It hardly did anything right and damaged the car's wheel rim. By rights this is bad enough that the feature should be turned off via an over-the-air update.
Score 0/10, technically Hongqi damaged the rim, this should be a warranty issue, let the dealer experience for themselves how good Hongqi's warranty is 🤣 Please do a follow up video on the outcome as many potential buyers deserve to know how good Hongqi's warranty is?
If the auto parking is so bad it scratches the rims (and usually fails completely) they should offer free replacements any time. What an absolute joke of a software 😂
P.s. don't pay for it, it was not your fault at all. Modern cars should be able to park in an empty lot like this without a problem. My 2015 ford can do it after all so how can a new car 9 year later be worse than that lol How is that still a 3/10 I'd give it 0
The newer ones are so much worse. My 2016 X3 was a 7/10 in city auto-parking, my 2013 Golf never seemed to fail, but my current 2021 Model 3 can almost never parallel park. Back in the day it was fun to see everyone's reaction to me removing my hands while the car parked, meanwhile the Tesla from a tech company can't seem to master what has already been perfected by others
@@garyanderton to be fair Tesla isn't really the gold standard by any means. They rather remove a 3$ sensor instead of caring about safety or functionality so no wonder they're bad. Most modern cars from reliable manufacturers (so not cheap Chinese or Tesla) are doing better than the older ones
