I find the Spyro cutscene voice acting very funny and charming on the PS1. Especially when Hunter and Elora talk. I'm a huge fan of the way Elora says "Ripto". And hard P's in general. It sounds so funny, and the game just wouldn't be the same without it. I remember as a kid I mocked this enunciation very aggressively, and then one day I forgot why I was so brutal about it. I played the game again in 2022 as an adult and was like "Holy shit, kid me was completely right, she totally does say "riPTo" like that."
The first 30 seconds of this clip man! The intro to Spyro 2 for me, is one of those few scenes you'll always recall even when your 28yrs old remembering how cool it looked when you were watching your older sibling playing it and wanted to yourself but never got the chance to.
Kinda makes sense Spyro would want to go somewhere warm- he's a reptile, and even if he can breathe fire to warm himself up, a cold rainy environment would definitely slow him down immensely and probably be uncomfortable. A sunny, warm environment like Dragon Shores or Avalar would definitely reenergize him, and that's why he perks up once he reaches Avalar

The leatherback sea-turtle for example is mesothermic and can generate and retain a consistent body-temperature, while many dinosaurs are also theorized to have been warm-blooded. Maybe that's also the case with dragons in Spyro's world.
Honestly its such a shame this music or something like it didnt make it into the reignited version, instead we got.. well, you know. Also I've been looking everywhere for years trying to find any kind of music that sounds like the track in that cutscene. Truly one of the most euphoric and wonderous piece of music ever constructed. Honestly, It MAKES the cutscene. Elora's enchanting explanation of the fourteen talismans and the land of Avalar sound so magical, deep, and frankly fantastical. It really sparked something on me that never really burned out. I guess I'm just really happy someone agrees this piece in particular is stunningly beautiful. I hope you have a wonderful day.
I don't think I'll ever outgrow this series. The first and second are brilliant. Practically everything about these games was exactly what gaming was to me. Simple, clean, and refreshing. Honestly, the best part of any game for me is the audio. Gameplay is the most vital to actually consider it a game, and a good plot helps to make sense of it all...But for me, above even those favored aspects, the sounds. Whether they be mere sound effects or the actual soundtrack, some games just have the most lovely and uplifting audio. For me, it'll never get better than Spyro's. Driver comes at a close second, and Spiderman holds bronze here.

I agree with that statement, but at the same time Crash never really focused on the story as it was mainly just a way to get Crash and co. on another adventure. I do overall prefer Crash Bandicoot personally, but Spyro does have the better story
Okay, what I don't understand is that when Spyro first arrives in Avalar, meets Elora, Hunter and the Professor as well as Ripto, Gulp and Crush, Gulp eventually eats Ripto's scepter but in the scene after defeating Gulp, Ripto has his scepter. And all the times after that scene he doesn't have it.
+Darth Nicotitus - no he means the cutscene before he rebuilds his scepter, it shows an error in the cutscene where Ripto falls to his supposed death with him holding the scepter that Gulp swallowed and destroyed.
The moneybags fight scene was so much funnier in this one than reignited, this really shows how much of a coward he is. But reignited is still so much fun
I agree with the comment about that music in the cutscenes with Alora. It sounds like literal Heaven. I wish it was included in the soundtrack or that there was some way of hearing, but according to reddit, its no possible. It only exists with the dialogue overtop of it. At least i can imagine it in my head without the voices/sfx. 😢

Like the T, K, D, P, G, and even A sounds all kinda POP loudly when they say them (the first Glimmer cutscene especially, it's easy to hear) Ive noticed this since I was a kid but nobody really mentions it. I wonder if it was just the voice acting or if the recording software altered it somehow, because it decreases a bit as the cutscenes go on.
This game had a weird pop filter issue in the voice editing, and yet it is still great. I can't wait to see how the voice acting turns out in the Reignited Trilogy
@TheDarkZone yeah this video shows that scratched discs aren't the reason. Those P, T, B, and S sounds all pop out more in a way that wouldn't happen with a pop filter over the mic
@TheDarkZone Doesn't mean that all PS1 games have terrible audio quality. Heck Spyro 1 and 3 had cleaner audio in the voice acting than 2. The weird peaking thing was just in Spyro 2.

Why dose punching Moneybags cause Ripto to take over? Is Moneybags the King of Avalar? And why dose he only take over one province at a time? Specifically after being chased out of another.
I know this post is five years old but, this has always vexed me as well and not many people talk about this plot aspect. Ripto didn't really seem to have a plan. He seems to have just winded up in Avalar and thought it was easy to conquer. I guess hes right if we reallt think about it. I mean, I think it's pretty clear that Avalar is in a state of chaos when Spyro is intercepted by the Professor. Some realms are at war with eachother (Breezeharbor and Zephyr) for what could be a myriad of reasons, while others have internal rebellions or revolts of some sort by some oppressed minority. It could be that once Ripto arrived he instigated these rivalries and/or issues to create a ladder to climb to Kingship (and create his Riptonia) while everyone is distracted. But like you said, why just one world at a time? And didn't Ripto start in Winter Tundra at the superportal? Why did he decide to take over Summer Forest first when Winter Tundra was litteraly where he started out? Disturbingly, It seems there's no real grand authority over the major hub worlds, with each individual world instead having their own locus of control, or maybe some sort of government or at least a representative to be considered apart of the larger realm that is Avalar. After all, each world holds a talisman that is connected with the guidebook. There are other questions connected to this idea as well. For instance, who created the Guidebook? How many are there? Did Elora make it? The Professor? Is Elora some kind of like leader, or resistance fighter? What about Hunter? What's his deal? I think these are questions we were sadly never meant to have answers to. It's not something Insomniac put that much effort into themselves. The fourteen talismans is just that - a number to collect, just like everything else. Giving them a greater purpose is in line with the games core philosophy of giving the collecting more of a purpose as gems can now unlock abilities and areas. Orbs are vital to completion. That's true she does say that! Seems implied that Ripto did stir the pot a little to make his conquest easier. Kinda makes me want another game that delves into the roots of those issues for each world as they clearly precede Ripto's arrival. The music sounds were way more dramatic in the original and way better than the reignited trilogy. A shame they didn't put those dramatic sounds back.

the pacing of the older games is far better than reignited, however, I can't get over the awfulness that is the "pah" and "Teh" sounds from the voice acting, it sounds like the pop filter is off
Why dose punching Moneybags cause Ripto to take over? Is Moneybags the King of Avalar? And why dose he only take over one province at a time? Specifically after being chased out of another.
If moneybags was the king, then Avalars economy would be screwed.

I know this post is five years old but, this has always vexed me as well and not many people talk about this plot aspect. Ripto didn't really seem to have a plan. He seems to have just winded up in Avalar and thought it was easy to conquer. I guess hes right if we reallt think about it.
I mean, I think it's pretty clear that Avalar is in a state of chaos when Spyro is intercepted by the Professor. Some realms are at war with eachother (Breezeharbor and Zephyr) for what could be a myriad of reasons, while others have internal rebellions or revolts of some sort by some oppressed minority.
It could be that once Ripto arrived he instigated these rivalries and/or issues to create a ladder to climb to Kingship (and create his Riptonia) while everyone is distracted. But like you said, why just one world at a time? And didn't Ripto start in Winter Tundra at the superportal? Why did he decide to take over Summer Forest first when Winter Tundra was litteraly where he started out?
Disturbingly, It seems there's no real grand authority over the major hub worlds, with each individual world instead having their own locus of control, or maybe some sort of government or at least a representative to be considered apart of the larger realm that is Avalar. After all, each world holds a talisman that is connected with the guidebook.
There are other questions connected to this idea as well. For instance, who created the Guidebook? How many are there? Did Elora make it? The Professor? Is Elora some kind of like leader, or resistance fighter? What about Hunter? What's his deal?
I think these are questions we were sadly never meant to have answers to. It's not something Insomniac put that much effort into themselves. The fourteen talismans is just that - a number to collect, just like everything else. Giving them a greater purpose is in line with the games core philosophy of giving the collecting more of a purpose as gems can now unlock abilities and areas. Orbs are vital to completion.

That's true she does say that! Seems implied that Ripto did stir the pot a little to make his conquest easier. Kinda makes me want another game that delves into the roots of those issues for each world as they clearly precede Ripto's arrival. Then again, perhaps Spyro solved all their issues as a result of dealing with Ripto and his shenanigans.
