    In my experience the U1502 hardly fails. I just remove the bad cap and replace the diode and the coil and it's good to go. But she's right, the solder balls beneath the chip can go out if you apply to much heat. Then you'll have more work having to re-ball the IC. Also if you're not careful while looking for the bad cap or something else you can crack the IC ☹️

      Replace them all, its so much quicker. And it is a plus to get the extra space to work with. I usually take them all off all at the same time, dink, dink, dink, dink.

    Hey, I've been becoming more familiar with my multimeter and I'm trying to get away from continuity testing like you said. I have been comparing diode mode readings to "known good" circuits and just going off of obvious differences, but I really want to understand what the multimeter is doing, and what those readings mean. When testing that backlight circuit, you said ~.5v is normal. What does that imply? Wouldn't resistance to ground be measured in ohms?

  • @fredericstrub2694
    @fredericstrub2694 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What can I do when some pads of the backlight ic are broken ?
    Is there a way to repair it. It was my first attempt to unsolder such a chip and it went wrong un fortunatly.
    I tried some things but nothing worked for the moment.
    I should have watched your videos before, thanks a lot for them , I learned a lot.

    • @JessaJones
      @JessaJones  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Frederic Strub you'll have to make microjumpers and solder the chip on top of them

    • @fredericstrub2694
      @fredericstrub2694 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your answer.I did that but i think the jumpers moves when i solder the chip.I tried twice without succes.Maybe i schould use the green UV stuff you sell in your store to protect the jumpers before soldering the IC

    Good day to you, I have a backlight problem with my iPhone 6s. The phone vibrates when I toggle the vibrate switch and the phone charges. I made a mistake of plugging a new LCD replacement without unplugging the battery, which caused a short with the motherboard, I smelled a diode burning when I plug the new lcd screen. The screen sometimes comes on when I turn the phone on and off and I can faintly see the screen with the assistance of a flashlight and was able to unlock my phone. I was wonder how much do you charge to fix this issue and how can I contact you. Thank you

    You can tell the coil is damaged if it looks just like the one on that board. Cracked and with the green stuff coming out of it. If you don't replace it you won't have full brightness and it will also flicker, like Jessa said.
