We've always loved Changi Airport. So great to see how much it has changed in the last 4 years. The airport also has a fantastic transit hotel we've used whenever we have at least a 6 hour stopover en-route to Europe from Australia. It makes a world of difference.
We've heard great things about the hotel at the airport and would definitely use that in the future if we had a long layover. Thanks so much for watching 😊
What an amazing Airport. Not a bad place to be stuck for 11 hours. You have easily become my favorite travel channel. You're so normal, relatable, and not self absorbed. I hope you enjoy your visit home with family and friends. 🌷❤🌻
Beautiful airport! Thanks for showing it to us! My son lives in Seattle, and I’ll be flying into that airport later this week. Singapore is definitely on my list! ❤
The last time that I was at Singapore Changi International Airport was in 2012. Like you two, I had a long layover. and one of the activities that I got to do there was watch a movie in their stadium seated theatre. One of the most beautiful airports in the world. And, I have to agree with you, it does feel like we are being pampered!😊
Changi Airport and both Tokyo airports Haneda and Narita are top class. Nice you enjoyed the experience. Glad to know you are headed home - happy for you both for family times. Take care and looking forward to next vlog. Good Luck.
Thank you. We are having a great visit back home visiting friends and family but also ready to get back on the road. Thank you for watching and commenting! Cheers!!🍻
Glad to see that you are safely back into Seattle. Another thorough and informative video. Two 11-hour stops at airports, and you made the best of it. I am torn about whether I would need/want an airport to have a jungle inside it, with a waterfall like in Singapore. I think North American airports couldn't justify the cost. We North Americans are more about the function of the airport to feed us quickly, get a magazine and then move you to the next gate. Also my life experience in various airports is that you don't have many affordable options for food. The kick when you're down is the next layover in Tokyo when you just want to get home! Thank goodness for lounges. I really like the western music and perspective of the Saporo beer. A machine that tilts the glass to fill, who knew??! Look forward to hear about where you are adventuring next!
You are correct, the cost of such an airport would have to be justified in the US. The airport Itself was very efficient and it was nice to have the lounges, we will use them again whenever possible. As you mentioned, the price of food and drink in airports is so high that the lounge is actually affordable. Thank you for always watching and commenting, Robert. Cheers!!🍻
I would love to see a couple videos that tell us more about you personally. Maybe while you are in Seattle, you could make a couple videos about who you are. Like, what occupations did you have before you retired? How many kids do you have? Grandkids? How difficult is it for you to leave them? What was the process in deciding to sell everything and travel the world? What was the catalyst? How long did it take you to prepare? How has this past year affected your marriage? Do you do everything together? My husband Ray is an extrovert and beer drinker and NEEDS to be with people. He always finds a pub to go watch sports and meet people. I do not drink alcohol and am an introvert. I desperately need for time alone to read. So, he does his thing while I do mine. What are your roles or jobs on your journey? I am the accountant and planner. But at times, I am just too analytical and am thinking that if I keep searching I will find a better deal. Ray's job is to come in and look at what I have done so far and make a quick decision or to pull the trigger and commit to something. He is responsible for all important documents, as I lose things. What about your all? I have so many more questions. We just love you all. You are by far our favorite vloggers. Enjoy your family and friends in Seattle.
Hi! These are some wonderful questions and your comment made us realize it's been well over a year since we've done a video touching on any of this. We will be sure to do video in the next few months and will be sure to reach out on TH-cam and Instagram beforehand to see what other great questions everyone has. Thanks so much for the suggestion. 😊😊. Cheers!!
This airport is so amazing and you both captured it so beautifully. There is a "zen" feeling to this airport and so happy you have some free time to take it all in. Safe travels to you both. I can't wait to see where you land next.
With all the traveling that you do, it's crazy not to have a travel card. Take the Chase Sapphire Reserve. It's $550 a year plus $75 for a 2nd authorized user (that sucks I know). So $625 for the 2 of you. But then Chase credits back automatically $300 a year in travel fees (airline tix, hotels, AirB&B, Uber, etc.) So it would cost you $325. You get 60,000 points for signing up, so that equals $600. You've already made money. You accumulate points incredibly fast compared to "regular" cards. And you get a bunch of travel benefits. Reimbursement for Global Entry, deals on hotels, lost luggage and flight delay coverage, rental car deductible coverage in an accident, and free entry into Priority Pass airport lounges. As you mentioned in the video, lounge access is huge! (I also have the American Express Platinum and that gets you into Centurian Lounges which are better lounges, but the card is more expensive). Either way, you should for sure get some type of paid travel card. My wife, daughter, I myself just went to Italy on points. We had over 400,000 points stacked up and still have over 200,000 left.
@@BrianandCarrie You did say that you have a Capitol One that gives you 2 free passes a year and Carrie said that you don't feel that you would make great use of any "paid programs." I assumed that she meant that you don't use a card with an annual fee. Either way, both the Chase Reserve and Amex Platinum give you UNLIMITED access to their lounges, and also legit credits (like around $50) at airport restaurants, if that airport doesn't have a participating lounge. Chase has 2 Priority Pass lounges at Sea-Tac in 2 different terminals, and food credits in the other terminals. Amex also has a Centurian lounge at Sea-Tac. Happy Travels!
Hi. What a trip due to change in aircraft. Hope the experience was worth it. 😁 For your information, Dubai Airport took the number 1 spot due to Changi was closed during the COVID period, but Changi Airport had taken back the number spot for this year according to Skytrax just a few weeks ago.
That is very interesting to know - thank you ☺. It truly is an impressive airport with so much to see and do - an easy place to have a long layover. Thanks for watching!!
It's great that you did a vlog on Changi Airport. The Jewel part of Changi opened in March 2019. I was there in Dec 2019 and Feb 2020. There's a lot to do and see. Changi Airport was also great before Jewel was added on to it. Since the late 90s, I have booked flights in and out of Changi while on vacations in Southeast Asia. It's a very easy and stress free airport. And at the end of my trips, I want stress free at the airport. There's also the Transit Hotel within Changi airport so if one especially arrives late, but isn't scheduled to immediately transit on to one's next flight, then that's an option. I've stayed there quite a bit due to landing at Changi, but transiting on to Bangkok many hours later. But, one's original plane ticket needs to have the connecting flight portion on it. One buys one's Transit Hotel stay in blocks of hours and one does not go through immigrations or collect one's luggage as it will be transferred to and put on one's connecting flight. If one has a plane ticket that's not connected to one's original ticket, then one goes through immigration and also collects one's baggage. Now with Jewel, one can check one's baggage there as I did it in Dec 2019 for my flight to Bangkok. In the situation of landing late, going through immigration and collecting my luggage, I've stayed at the Crown Plaza Hotel attached to one of the terminals at Changi. I stayed there when Singapore Air changed its flight schedule, a few years pre-pandemic, to landing at Changi after 3AM, too late to check into most regular hotels in the city, but too early for my connecting flight to Bangkok. There's also the nearby Capri by Fraser Hotel, 2.5 miles from Changi, and a very quick taxi ride. I've also stayed there and showered, slept, ate, and then gone back to Changi to catch my flight to Bangkok. I like to start in Bangkok and work by way around the region and then end in Singapore for a week or two and then fly home on Singapore Air with a quick stop in Narita Airport, enough time to get to my sushi place before re-boarding the same flight number on to LAX. I'm glad that you had a great trip and made it home safely. Thanks for taking the time to vlog it all. Now on to your next destinations. I do hope that at some point you get to Africa. Over the decades, I loved Ghana (in the 2000s twice) and also really liked Morocco and Tunisia (in the mid-80s). I'm female and travel solo. Greetings from Los Angeles
Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions and information. We are enjoying our time at home but also so excited for our next leg of travels. Hopefully we will make it to Africa in the next few years. Cheers 🍻
@@BrianandCarrie Get some rest, get recharged, and start planning the next adventure. It would be great to also vlog Seattle. I had great fun up there as I've been a couple times. Greetings from Los Angeles
Dang, what a long trip. I went from SF to Okinawa with a 5 month old years ago with a long stop in Hawaii and Guam. And then made the return trip a year later. Not as long as yours but pretty long when schlepping all the baby gear and carrying a baby by myself. Luckily, he was a chill baby. Kathleen
Great coverage of Changi Airport. Definitely worth visiting routing a flight thru Changi with a longer layover. Welcome back to USA in time for the July 4 holidays. Talking about Bellingham, reminds me of my job way back years ago spending a week installing DSL telecom gear in the newly built US West central offices. A great city and sure must have changed a lot by now. Long flight, rest relax and recharge. Cheers!
Thank you! Bellingham is a beautiful city. The time home is needed but we are looking forward to getting back out there. We have big plans for this summer and fall!! Cheers CM!! 🍻
Love your videos! I just got the Hilton Surpass card. The annual fee is $95, but it includes 10 lounge passes for Priority Pass per year. I’ve used 3 already. Enjoy your time back home!
Greetings from St. Louis! We always love watching your videos. So glad you're getting a few days back home. We're looking forward to following along for the next part of your adventure. We're in the process of navigating what ours is going to be. You guys are awesome inspiration!!
Thank you for the kind words, Billy. It has been nice being home, but we are excited to get back on the road! Thank you again, we very much appreciate the support.
Always one of my first choices for best airport in the world (the other one is Istanbul). I use the Chase Sapphire Reserve for a travel credit card: free unlimited Priority Pass. But sometimes the lounges (depending on the airport) aren't the best. But I usually try to fly Star Alliance flights and get into better lounges with gold status with Aegean Airlines (the easiest airline to get gold if you're living abroad).
Singapore Changi airport was essentially closed during those two (awful) pandemic years because the country is so small they didn't have a domestic market to sustain operations. But guess what, they're back now and just took the Best Airport award again this year!
Another great video! I’m so happy for you living your dream! Just love your weekly videos and looking forward to hearing about your next adventure! Which Capital one card to you have for the airport lounges? I think it’s time for me to upgrade my Capital One! Thank you for sharing and inspiring!
Wow! That was quite a couple of days of travel. I love how Japanese pour beer! If you transit through Singapore in the future, there is free movie theatre airside, along with free butterfly garden. Bacha coffee is high recommendation. There are also chaise sleeping chairs throughout airport or so I’ve learned. I didn’t see them. In our upcoming trip to Vietnam, we will be transiting through Changi and I can’t wait to do stuff I missed out on. I had gotten sick last couple of days in Singapore. So, imagine having to spend 8 hours not feeling 100%. But I made it, thank God. Looking forward to your next adventures. Cheers from @rockergrrrl
Which CapitalOne card is it? I’ve had CapitalOne for years and they’re always trying to get me to switch to their other cards offered. What a beautiful airport!
@@Gen_X_Jenn Mine is a "Quicksilver Venture One" plus my regular 360 debit for checking and savings; nothing special, but I opened them specifically as travel cards and now they've become my primary accounts.
Hi Guys, That was a long day! Airport lounges are worth paying for when you have over a three-hour layover. Changi Airport is impressive, and you are right, and along with Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha, it is probably the best in the world. Enjoy your time at home and rest up for the next part of the adventure.
I saw the Thor hammer at the vortex. I forgot that there is currently a Marvel's event going on at the airport. Actually i have wanted to go down for it.
We have Chase Reserve, Chase Preferred, and Capital One Venture. We figured that we will want three just in case there is a problem with any of them. Once we begin traveling full time in September, we will see how it goes and whether we get the value out of them.
We both carry two cards as well, one with a fee and then one without. You just never know what could happen on the road and having the backups would give us time to deal with any issues when we come home for a visit. Thanks so much for watching 😊
wow guys it must be great to be back in the usa where is the next adventure lol I have to put beer in the airport lounge on my bucket list LOL have a good one 🤪😁😄
We won't be doing one for Singapore as we were only there 3 nights. We instead gave our pricing for what we bought and our hotel in the Singapore video.
Hey Fellow Travelers...I so enjoy your videos, education! Thank You! I spent 87 days in Schengen, now spending ~100 days in Montenegro/Serbia/Macedonia AND Now I can go back into the Schengen for another 90 days without any special Visas (Multiple Year Visas??)? Right?? A fellow XPAT I met has me confused on this...??!!
@@BrianandCarrie Thank You! BTW - Great Marketing = Beer! I just connected the dots on the "Buy Me a Beer" link and why you talk about having a beer in your videos = Brilliant!
Great Video! I tried to give you my thoughts on the best travel card I use, but it seems that the comment gets deleted. Keep the video coming. Happy Travels!
That's a long travel "day". I'd have been very cranky and my poor husband would have been stuck with me. 😂 Our current travel cards are Chase Preferred and I have a Navy Federal cash back. We always have more than 2 cards and with different banks. Just in case! May change my cards soon & just saw a really good sub on a hotel branded card. Always trying to watch for the next good deal and collect points on my every day spending.
Thank you for the suggestions! We love our Capital One cards but always looking for something different. It is easy to get a bit cranky for sure 😀 We have gotten used to it and just roll with it now. Thank you for watching and commenting! We appreciate the support. Cheers 🍻
Hello again - yep it’s us 2 😀 we CHOSE the flight lay over to explore Changi. What a place. The thing we found was the food was mega cheap compared to the big city as if the Govt wasn’t letting them take the piss (like in the UK ) We had 9 hrs and went to the movies 😀😀 As we were sitting there a terrible thought came over us… Is it going to be in English? 😂luckily it was. Iv got a feeling we’re going to bump into you 2 some day.. PS forgot to mention on prev vids your camera work is really fantastic. Top job again cheers
I mean, if you got to get stuck in an airport that would be the one 😂. It's a destination in itself. I'm with you guys on the lounge access. The way in which we travel, it's not worth it to us to maintain those high fee credit cards just to get "free" lounge access. Honestly, we try to limit flying as much as possible and it's rare for us to even have an opportunity to utilize lounges. We actually had "free" lounge access in our first year of travel through, interestingly enough, our international health insurance plan. We used it once for about 45 minutes the whole year. In the rare times we may benefit from lounge access, we will just purchase it as you did. Well done, safe travels.
We agree on the lounges. We would only use them maybe once or twice a year when flying long flights. The hopper flights usually have a shorter layover. It is nice to get the free ones if they are available. Thank you for all your support, we very much appreciate all the comments. ❤
I will be travelling from paris to changi airport on a 13hour flight. Any tips for when I land there? I have about 3 hours of free time there untill my next flight. Also I love the video keep it up
Each month we do a monthly budget video on this channel. We use a Charles Shwab ATM card to draw cash. We use Capital One Visa to pay for most everything else including Airbnb.
other than trying the Food scene for few days in Singapore, there' s very very little in attractions to look forward to, the opposite of space and tropical area, just not liking the urban crowd.
Thank you so much! Just got back and had a wonderful time ☺. We loved Singapore, but as a big city, we felt a few days was plenty for us to explore what we wanted to see. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers 🍻

Hey Brian and Carrie - I posted a link in my comment earlier and I think either your settings or you tube blocked it. Do you guys allow posting links? Anyways, I just read that Singapore was named the most expensive city/country to live in 2023 and the link illustrated that. So I was curious doesn;t Singapore go against your mandate of no expensive country's ?.
Interesting!! We typically have to approve links, but one never came through to approve. We knew Singapore was going to cost a lot more than we like to typically spend. We would never limit ourselvese not to go to expensive areas, we just have to balance those places with less expensive ones. Thanks for watching!
@@BrianandCarrie Wasn't implying that you guys can't afford it. Just remembered hearing in one of your videos that you stayed away from overly expensive country's, which I thought was very smart. I think places like London, Singapore Tokyo are WAY OVERPRICED and frankly not even worth the overprice. In any case did not mean any disrespect.
Singapore is only expensive in the main touristy areas, but pretty affordable everywhere else with plenty of places to visit for free and eat below USD5, especially the many suburbs and housing estates where locals live. With a bit of planning beforehand, it’s definitely still worth it!
I use Capital One Venture X, 75,000 mile sign up, 10000 annual miles, $300 travel credit, $100 Global entry credit, Priority Pass lounge access. $395 annual fee but you get over $400 in value. I feel the best card with lounge access.
Uh....only ONE side of the escalator was working during the first minute of the video.....DEDUCT 7 points ....LOL 😂🤪🤪 Amazing architecture! It amazes me that the USA acts as though we are "so creative".....when the truth is; many countries do a BETTER job .....not enslaved to overpriced UNIONS and overpriced ARCHITECTS...

We will have to look into that one. Thank you for the information!!
Cheers!!🍻
Thank you, great information. We have experienced the not-so-great lounges. 🙄 We will be flying into Istanbul late next month!!
Singapore Changi airport was essentially closed during those two (awful) pandemic years because the country is so small they didn't have a domestic market to sustain operations. But guess what, they're back now and just took the Best Airport award again this year!
That's interesting and makes complete sense being how small of a country it is. So happy it's open now - so impressive. Cheers 🍻
you both look so fresh after 35hrs flight, How is that possible? I usually look tired, beat, run down, drain, exhausted, after 8 hour of flight.
A fresh change of clothes makes a huge difference 😊.
Rough trip! Enjoy your family!
Thank you so much 😊
great vlog, good to see your travel days
Thank you, we appreciate that 😊
Another great video! I’m so happy for you living your dream! Just love your weekly videos and looking forward to hearing about your next adventure! Which Capital one card to you have for the airport lounges? I think it’s time for me to upgrade my Capital One! Thank you for sharing and inspiring!
Thank you! We use the Capital One Venture card. Thank you again for watching and commenting!! ❤
Those are great tips and something we will definitely check out of we find ourselves with a layover there in the future. Thanks so much for watching 😊
For me, it is CapitalOne and Wise - what a great airport this is! Looks like a destination unto itself.
Thank you, Mike!!
Haven't start our "slow travel" yet but still swear by the Chase Sapphire for the lounge access and points used on any airline.
Hi Guys,
That was a long day! Airport lounges are worth paying for when you have over a three-hour layover. Changi Airport is impressive, and you are right, and along with Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha, it is probably the best in the world. Enjoy your time at home and rest up for the next part of the adventure.
100% agree 👍. Thank you so much, we are excited to be home seeing family and friends but also can't wait for our next adventure. Cheers 🍻
Very nice, great video
Thank you so much 😊
I saw the Thor hammer at the vortex. I forgot that there is currently a Marvel's event going on at the airport. Actually i have wanted to go down for it.
I read that there is an iron man standing at the centre of the vortex entrance. Looks like you didn't capture it
We have Chase Reserve, Chase Preferred, and Capital One Venture.
It's great to be back with family and friends. We will have a video in the next two weeks sharing our new travel plans for the next 5 months. Cheers 🍻
Will you be doing a video about the cost of your travel to Singapore? I really appreciate when you create those videos for each location! Thank you!!
Hi! Yes, after being out of Schengen for at least 90 days you can then re-enter for another 90 days without a special visa. Safe travels 😊
@@BrianandCarrie Thank You! BTW - Great Marketing = Beer! I just connected the dots on the "Buy Me a Beer" link and why you talk about having a beer in your videos = Brilliant!
Home Sweet Home. I bet SEA left you life time impressions and trust it met all your expectations.
We had a great time and plan on going back next year!! Thank you for watching!
Cheers!!🍻
Great Video! I tried to give you my thoughts on the best travel card I use, but it seems that the comment gets deleted. Keep the video coming. Happy Travels!
Interesting that it gets deleted. 🤔 Thank you for the effort and for watching our channel!!
Cheers!!🍻
We haven't started our "slow travel" yet but love our Chase Sapphire card for lounge access and points used on any airline.
That's a long travel "day". I'd have been very cranky and my poor husband would have been stuck with me. 😂
Our current travel cards are Chase Preferred and I have a Navy Federal cash back.
The thing we found was the food was mega cheap compared to the big city as if the Govt wasn’t letting them take the piss (like in the UK )
We had 9 hrs and went to the movies 😀😀
As we were sitting there a terrible thought came over us…
Is it going to be in English? 😂luckily it was.
Iv got a feeling we’re going to bump into you 2 some day..
PS forgot to mention on prev vids your camera work is really fantastic.
Top job again cheers
It was pretty amazing!! It is a small world so it would be no surprise to bump into you at some point. Thank you for all the support.
Cheers!!🍻
You found cheap food? Was it at the food court?
@@SuccessforLifester yes but all the coffee shops/ cafe types were very reasonable in price.
@@antrog1895 I see. Generally prices at the airport are slightly more expensive though
Also I love the video keep it up
Hi! Three hours isn't too long so I would just recommend making it to the Jewel at the airport...well worth seeing. Cheers 🍻
What is your monthly budget and how do you draw your cash or pay to vendors , where you stay or for transit. You use ATM ?
Each month we do a monthly budget video on this channel. We use a Charles Shwab ATM card to draw cash. We use Capital One Visa to pay for most everything else including Airbnb.
Welcome back to the Pacific Northwest before the next adventure
Thank you so much 😊
If you go downstairs to the basement that’s where all the local staff eat , much better value restaurants
That's so great to know, thank you so much for sharing. Cheers 🍻
other than trying the Food scene for few days in Singapore, there' s very very little in attractions to look forward to, the opposite of space and tropical area, just not liking the urban crowd.
Thank you so much! Just got back and had a wonderful time ☺. We loved Singapore, but as a big city, we felt a few days was plenty for us to explore what we wanted to see. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers 🍻
Sounds like 11 is your favorite number.
It seemed that way right 😂
Which vpn do you use? And should i get it off of your you tube site? Affiliated? Just want to give you a spiff if possible!
Hi, we use surfshark they are very affordable and we have been very happy with them. We do get a commission at no extra cost to you (and we very much appreciate it 😊)
Hey Brian and Carrie - I posted a link in my comment earlier and I think either your settings or you tube blocked it.
No disrespect taken at all. I get it, some places are way to expensive. We wish we could see them all but have to do it in little spurts 😊. Cheers!!
Thank you!!
Cheers!!🍻
We were dreading our 13-hour total journey from London/Seattle/Portland (two flights) next week. But after seeing your video, we are ashamed.
Ha! Yes, we prepare mentally way ahead of time for long travel days. Thank you for watching and safe travels!!
Cheers 🍻
Where are you now?
We are currently at home in Bellingham visiting family 😊. Not much longer though, we leave in a few days!
Where are you going next?
We just released a video about where we are heading in Europe.
And then you come back to dreadful SeaTac… enjoy Singapore Airlines on the way!
Thankfully SeaTac was a breeze to get through and we even arrived to sunshine! Thanks so much for watching 😊
Uh....only ONE side of the escalator was working during the first minute of the video.....DEDUCT 7 points ....LOL 😂🤪🤪
Amazing architecture! It amazes me that the USA acts as though we are "so creative".....when the truth is; many countries do a BETTER job .....not enslaved to overpriced UNIONS and overpriced ARCHITECTS...
Singapore was such a beautiful City with a stunning skyline. Thanks so much for watching and not deducting to many points for the escalator 🤣🤣
Once again another Wonderful video. We hope you don't mind but we referenced your channel as one to follow because we love your adventures and the places that you have been. We are new at TH-cam and just want to give props and recommendations to those channels that have helped us these past few years. Thanks and safe travels. Also, any comments about our video would be helpful. We will be in Singapore in August. @retireearlyandtravelthewor8507
Thank you so much, we really appreciate that! We will be sure to check out your channel and see where your travels take you 😊
