Excellent bucking technique. Especially the action of moving up through the dirty wood to save the chain since cutting downward would just grind the dirt into the cut
You basically have to check everything dealing with the fuel system, intake, and oiling system on these old saws. Then check screw holes to make sure the threads are good or helicoil them and replace missing screws with the proper screws. On the old McCulloch's you also want to make sure the gas tank gasket is still sealing, they go bad occasionally.
I like monkeying around with the old iron but man the weight and vibration is terrible vs a 562xp or a 572xp or just about ANY modern saw with AV. When you’re used to running a smooooooth powerful saw and then ya p/u the old iron 😂! It feels like I’m running a jackhammer in comparison. State of the art back in the day and the cut speed can be made tolerable vs the new offerings however day in and day out I’m going for a modern saw with modern av! It’s nice to blow the dust off the bottle and take a sip once and awhile but for any “for profit” operation old school isn’t where it’s at , imho 😂
Sounds good thanks again for your time 👍👍
Sounds so nice.
Glad to see you got the old Homelite back running good. Gotta get my 925 back running. Gonna need a carb kit. Thanks for sharing.

An actual semi modern American muscle saw!
