You forgot to mention that the rear seats (if optioned) fold down, adding significantly more storage capacity in the trunk in addition to being able to fit kids back there. Unless you are trying to save some weight for the track, the 2+2 option is definitely the way to go.
Thanks, I wondered about that. I heard that the 55 is a "de-tuned" 63 (or the other way around, that the 63 is the same engine but tuned higher). If that's true, then the 55 should get more miles than a 63. There may be other differences. I think that the AMG GT 55 replaced the previous SL 550 - not sure about that, nor am I sure the two are even valid comparisons.
Would have been a nice place for a carbon fiber insert. My black SL looks fine since it’s black, but in non-black colors I think CF there would really pop.
I mean its the same exact car is it not? The only difference is that its engine is detuned which is very easy to tune again. So what's the point of the 63?
A very well styled and daily drive vehicle! I was looking at the Lexus LC 500, but that vehicle only has rear-wheel drive, dated electronic and cabin electronics and piss poor storage/no fold-down seats! The LC 500 is cheaper, BUT if you can save up $30K more- this AMG GT 55 is a clear winner.
I own the LC500, I think it’s a future classic, I really enjoy it. And I want to add 992 to my garage in the next few years, but the 992 is getting expensive, the base 992 starts from 120k without any options, only with 388 HP, I may consider a GT55 instead
yes and no. If you're going to spend the 200k it'll realistically cost you for a decently equipped 63, there are objectively better options - especially considering AMG's depreciation (these models do a bit better, but not as much as the competition). All depends on if you're wanting a GT car or more of a super-sport/exotic car.
@@lwdn3379 i agree but if the client specifically wants a gt and have to pay a bit more for a 63 than for an 55.. but idd there are better options even as a “merc fanboy”😂 i would buy a 911 ts
Ive been a 911 owner for years. Ive owned several different models. Recently, I got tired of dealing with Porsche. You can NEVER get one, the dealerships NEVER give allotment of special GT cars. The base 911 is a great car but lacks emotion and can be sterile. I decided to get a 55 and to your point it is a bargain when you consider what you get. I always avoided the Mercs because they drop in value, but all things considered, it's quite the car. This car will attract many 911 owners to it. Porsche hast had decent competition, plus their cars are becoming damn near unattainable.
Always the benchmark against the 911... I'm ready to buy this GT55 witch is quite exclusive here in Europe, there are only GT63 and they are depreciating too fast. I think GT55 will keep it's value on a 3 year basis vs GT63. I tested the GT63 on a track in Belgium at Zolder, ceramic brakes are mandatory. I'm driving often at Spa-Francorchamps, so it will be a must. Does ynyone already experienced this kind of brakes?
The 55 is definitely the way to go unless you are searching for maximum power. Having designed a beautiful car it’s a pity that Mercedes totally butchered the rear bumper to meet USA compliance with those AWFUL Pontiac style bulges on each side of the license plate. They look like an afterthought and completely destroy the back of the car. Look at videos of European spec cars and you’ll see what I mean.
@@BabyKobeeeeI recently bought an SL55 and yea it’s gonna plummet (though I bought a CPO that was used by MB USA as a static display car and got a fantastic discount and basically a 4 year unlimited mileage warranty) but I’m gonna own it for at least 10 years.
For me, I demand that the cruise controls be on the steering wheel under my thumb. That's Mercedes, Bentley prior to about 2020, Corvette, BMW, even Toyota (Lexus) LC 500, Mustangs, and probably a lot of other cars. F! and hypercars and such are totally different classes, but they move whatever they can onto the wheel, under the driver's thumb(s). Porsche is, imo, on a decline, probably since I think VW bought them.
Upgrade turbos, down pipes, exhaust, tune, maybe some meth injection on the 55 and the numbers will be FAR greater than the 63. Over $200k for a 63. Pffftt. If you want speed you can buy an Audi R8 with a turbo kit for about the same cost as a fully loaded 63. Just my .02
